Suddenly, Beau's wound reopens and he is killed and burnt by Rayna. Nora and Mary Louise run for their lives.
Meanwhile, Valerie and Stefan try easing the delivery (the twins were reluctant to come out thus leave their constant source of magic). Bonnie, Alaric and Valerie watch as Caroline successfully gives birth to the twins.

Lisbon's ten-year anniversary with the CBI is celebrated and she is offered a job outside of CBI by Ray Haffner (Reed Diamond) who is starting his own security firm. She declines and chooses to stay, moreover, after learning that Haffner is a member of Visualize, and possibly worked at Elliston Farm where Red John painted his first smiley face.
The team talk to Jason Cooper from Visualize and identify the dead as Lester Bradovich, Talbot and Cherney - all members from the 1980s.
An ex-member and missionary, Father DiBuono tells them that Bradovich was under pressure from Visualize to turn the farm into a success and was pushing workers hard. There were rumours that Bradovich was giving them drugs which was against Visualize policy. He recognises the Red John smiley face and tells Jane that Talbot told him "a kid" at the farm painted it which helps Jane determine an age range for Red John.
Jane cracks the murder case by tricking the killer into confessing but she only shot Bradovich and the other two dead bodies were already there leading the team to believe it was Red John who killed the others.
Based on the appearance of the first smiley face and facts from the case, Patrick Jane narrows down his Red John suspect list to 408 names, also adding Haffner.

It is revealed that Enzo sent the 'X' cards to track Rayna; he burns her to ashes only to revive her back in her young true self.
Elsewhere, Damon returns to his road-kill antics, picks on Julian and indulges in dangerous games with his mates. The fights esculate with Julian stepping up to fight him. Stefen arrives and begs Damon to stop but Damon continues to fight. Damon begs Julian for death. Stefan interferes and finally gets Damon to step out of the ring.
Eventually, Damon discloses that he burned Elena alive. Stefan punches him, and returns to his car. He is now hell bent on killing Julian.
Damon looks on bleeding and remorseful. Back in Mystic Falls, Valerie and Stefan finally take on Julian as Stefan catches him off guard and stakes him while Valerie keeps them cloaked.
Back in the Salvatore boarding house, Damon gets an unexpected visitor, a brunette (she saved him during one of the ring fights) who kisses him. Wallowing in emptiness, Damon gazes into her eyes accepting the bitter truth of fate and as a final jolt of mental agony, he bends down to kiss her back.
Flash forward: Three years from now, near the Dallas news station, Matt vervains Stefan after freeing Caroline (as shown in the previous episode). Inside the news station, the unseen vampire hunter is finally revealed to be a young Rayna, who looks on at Damon as he sits there tied to a chair weakened by werewolf toxin.

Jane finds a remote-controlled toy car at the crime scene and determines that it is likely a young boy witnessed the murder.
DNA evidence shows there was a second killer other than Milk.
Jane finally meets Volker and riles him to identify Don Clyde (Steven Bauer), his associate who Jane suspects is the other killer.
In the meantime, Lisbon questions Horatio Jones' girlfriend who says their relationship was casual and she didn't know about his work. It turn out she was being threatened by Volker and she promptly leaves the country.
CBI pick up Clyde and realize he wasn't able to murder the young boy, Marvin Pettigrew but he refuses to tell them where he hid the boy. CBI lets him go but he gets a call from Volker who knows about his trip to the CBI and Clyde steps in front of a bus and is killed moments later.
CBI Media Relations head Brenda Shettrick (Rebecca Wisocky) had been feeding information to Volker which is how Volker was one step ahead of the CBI. Though unwilling, she is forced to share information about Marvin with Volker.
When his hired assassin refuses to kill the boy, Volker pursues Marvin himself but is taken down by Lisbon and Marvin is reunited with his mother.

Hello, hello. Happy New Year. You guys, after I posted the message that I needed some time off, I turned off all my notifications and having logged in. At all. I was being a giant coward about it because I thought you were all going to be mad at me. And while, I did have a fair share of cancelations (totally justified), most of you were so lovely, sweet, and supportive. And I'm very grateful for it.
So, as I've had some time to think, I've mad some decisions regarding this page.First off, both Novel and Book Stack are getting the episodes at the same time. I cannot tell you how difficult it is for me to remember to go back on certain days and give access to Novel. I know it's stupid, but one of my New Years resolutions is to try to make things easier on myself. Because of this, Book Stack is now being dropped to $12/month. Book Stack also gives you access to the exclusive Book Stack show, which is currently, Ginny & Georgia. Book Stack will also get two movies a month and drunk rewatches (we're due for one, aren't we?). I'll put up a poll at the beginning of the month (which I'll be doing in a couple of days) and we can vote on what movies we want to watch- the top two highest in the poll will be the winners for the month. Drop your suggestions in the comments.
The other thing that I need to do, is to stop trying to do 7 or 8 reactions a day. It's just too much for me. I think 5 a day is where I feel best. Now, what does this mean for you guys? Not a whole lot. I basically means that the reactions will come out later in the day. I like to have my reactions go up at noon, two, three, four, and five (it's a five day week). So, things will probably go up between 5-8pm now. I'm no longer going to force myself to try to be several days ahead.
Next, I don't have a Vimeo plan. (Although, if I'm not doing 7-8 reactions a day, I might be able to tackle it). For the time being, I'm basically just going to ignore it. Mostly, because I don't have a plan to deal with it. I'm taking down all the stuff that advertises stuff from Vimeo, so hopefully, new subscribers don't join for stuff I don't have access to right now. If you joined in the last two months or so and we haven't previously discussed it, contact me (my notifications are back on now) and we'll work something out.
Finally, whenever the next show ends, I'd like to replace it with a show that's 30 minutes or less. Having one quick show on the schedule every few days, will help, I think. We've got a while until we're there though. I've just spent a lot of time the last few weeks brainstorming how I could make things easier on myself without taking too much away from you guys.
Other things to note: 9-1-1 S9 comes back next week. I will not be starting this until January 16. It will then come out every Friday. This is for Novel and above. Also, I told one of you (I'm sorry I don't remember who!) that I would finish up Stranger Things. It is officially over now. And, while there are only 8 episodes is S5, they are long episodes. So, I am going to finish this. But, I'm not going to drive myself crazy. That said, I will start S5 on January 23 and it will come out every Friday for 8 weeks, also for Novel and above.
Business out of the way, I hope everyone is having a good start to their New Year. I've got a handful of resolutions, if you're curious.
Find ways to make things easier on myself.
Lose 100 pounds.
Write a first draft of a novel I feel halfway decent about.
Read 100 books (I only managed 60 last year).
Limit reddit to 20 minutes a day (I'm such a reddit whore. If unchecked, I could be on there for hours 😳).
Bring more whimsy, romance, and fun into my life.
Did any of you make resolutions? I never did when I was younger, but the older I get, the more I find myself wanting to.
Well, Dan and I are on our way out to grab a few last minute items before football starts (we went to Lidl late Friday night and there was basically no produce).

This is the part of the year where you’re unhappy with me. I really, really need a break you guys. I had such grand plans to get so far ahead by the end the of year, but I’m just barely treading water. And I know this is very VERY last minute, but, as a Christmas present to myself, I’m going to take the rest of the year off.
I’m sure this is not what you want to hear, and I’m sorry to say it, but I’m just so tired (I couldn’t even mange to post a schedule last week- miraculously, I think everything came out properly, but I couldn’t handle doing one more thing last week). And I hate opening my email because I’m so afraid one of you are going to be telling me I forgot something, or messed something up, or asking about Vimeo (which was also supposed to be fixed by the end of the year, but that’s not happening, apparently) and I just don’t have the time (or energy, to be honest) to fix. Which means I’m not really checking my email and I’m missing a ton of stuff. It’s really just a mess over here. Plus, my apartment is a disaster, I haven’t bought a single Christmas gift, and all I want to do is lie in bed and stare at the ceiling. (That can’t be healthy, right?)
So, for those reasons (and several others) I’m taking two weeks off. I will be back on January 5 to pick up where we left off. I’m sorry if this makes you sad (totally understand if you want to cancel, no hard feelings), but hopefully, when I’m back, I’ll be fully rested (with a life is in better shape) and excited to be back at it.

I felt very meh about this investigation. You can't make the B plot better than the A plot. All I wanted to do was focus on the Lisbon/Volker stuff. I'm really hoping I get a ton of that next episode.

I really want to be frustrated with Tess and Heather (and I am), but I can totally understand just wanting to keep your sister and BFF safe. And, it's true that Cat's been very secretive lately. I just wish we could all just talk about this. I understand why we're not, but it just makes things so complicated!

During the pickup, Simone runs off to say goodbye to Peter. Jose drives back to retrieve her.
At the gala dinner, Devon accuses Michaela of running a cult and being involved in Jocelyn's death—only to learn Jocelyn is alive, living in seclusion after a failed plastic surgery.
Peter tells Michaela he wants a divorce and confesses to feeling uninspired, resenting their childlessness, and fearing Michaela's collection of evidence of his affairs—meant to protect her under the prenuptial agreement.
He begins a relationship with Simone and asks Jose to escort Michaela out.
Devon confronts Simone about her involvement with Peter. Simone invites her to stay at the estate with Bruce, but she declines.
On the ferry home, Devon runs into Michaela and apologizes for her accusations, and Michaela encourages Devon to cash the $10,000 check she gave her.
Simone, now mistress of the House on the Cliff, gazes out to sea with a satisfied smile on her face.

Don't you think if there was another way, they would have tried it?!?
Also, Even is now against us (through no fault of his own, but still). That's gonna be fun. So many people know bits and pieces of what's going on but none of us can talk to each other. It's so frustrating!
And now Tess wants to break up with us! I know she's upset about all Cat's lying recently, but she has to know that she wouldn't be destroying evidence without a damn good reason, right? Grrrrrr

Jeremy was working with a secret lab researching marijuana cultivation. He removed some seeds from their facility since that was his work.
Jane determines Jeremy was murdered for the seeds and devises a plan by planting the information about a fake marijuana dealer named Olivier Ganz who Jeremy was going to sell his seeds to.
Rigsby poses as Ganz to see who will approach Ganz to try and sell the special marijuana seeds called Turbo Wolf. Both Francesca, Jeremy's colleague from the research lab and his mentor from a farm he was working on turn up to try and sell the seeds.
His mentor reveals he killed Jeremy to procure the seeds but is told that Francesca had already swapped the real seeds and Jeremy was killed for no reason.
During a counterfeit cash bust with the Rapid Response Task Force, Cho runs into a heavily pregnant Summer (Samaire Armstrong) who insists she was there with her friend, Chuck, and didn't know it was a shady deal.
She begs him to let her off since her baby's father and fiance has no idea about her past but Agent Tamsin Wade refuses to give in.
Cho arrests Chuck and brokers a deal with the D.A. Osvaldo Ardiles (David Norona) to let Summer go free leading to some tension between him and Wade.

****We're supposed to assume that Helen is a mermaid too, right? Because I totally do. Also, I thought it was going to take so much more time for Ryn and her sister to get reunited. I assume the government will try to find mermaids now (since they know they exist that the experiments have proven fruitful), but I'm not really sure where we go as a show since we were focusing so heavily on Ryn finding her sister and now that's over.

Vincent tries to make things right with Catherine, but she tells him she will help protect him; however because he was possibly going to leave her for Alex and his old life, she tells him she needs some time to heal first, before she can trust him again.
Evan discovers a bug in his office, which makes him start to believe J.T.'s earlier warnings.
****I'm so frustrated with Vincent. Honestly, I do kind of get where he was coming from, but I'm annoyed that Alex's reaction to see him 'transform' is what pushed him to decide that Cat was right for him.

Michaela consoles her, advises against the engagement, and offers her a position as the foundation chair in New York City.

That evening, Ethan, Devon, Bruce, Raymond, Morgan, and others have dinner at Michaela's house, where Peter invites them to a humanitarian gala dinner for the bird sanctuary they are organizing the next day.
Simone tells Devon she feels no responsibility toward their father, citing years of neglect, her suicide attempt, and blaming him for their mother's suicide, leading to an argument between the sisters.
Devon storms out to the beach, followed by her flings Morgan and Raymond, where she ends her toxic affair with Raymond.
Later, Simone speaks with Ethan and clearly ends their relationship. Drunk and distraught, Ethan lashes out at Simone and accidentally falls off a cliff.
The Vanity Fair photographer reveals a secret photo he took of Simone and Peter's kiss, igniting Michaela's fury.
