Keyword Votes!

As promised, I'm bringing back the Keyword voting event. Sorry if I'm a bit later than expected, but let's see how well this goes.

Summary

Basic rules of the event. I'll put out a pool of random words and the viewers will vote for them in Deviantart. By the end of the time limit, I'll pick the top 2 or 3 words and make an image or story out them that will be posted here.

Patrons at any range will also get their own private vote with the same pool, which will be at patreon for a second piece that will be exclusive for backers. And Patrons over 5$ will get the right to their own image by picking words within the pool (And it'll be up to them whether the image is shared in other sites).

Voting: 5Jul - 10 Jul

Special rules for this occasion

Unlike the previous one, this time I'm picking the words to avoid those who vote for the word they came up with. There is however one caveat: before the start of the voting, patron backers over 3$ can switch one word of the current pool with one of their own.

The Asylum, part 5

Let me know what you guys think. I'm reaching the part of enjoyment here. I just wish I was faster when working on this.

Curious developments. Needs more studying elsewhere?

The Asylum, part 4

Coloring/shading 2 characters gets tricky at times. I have no idea how experts do this. And it's no wonder mangas are just white black and in between.

It's time for Lorie's medicine.

The Asylum, part 3

The adventure continues. Gonna try to be posting one or two of the 16 pages each week here, and in my other channels, I might just start once im halfway here.

The next page of the mini comic.

We meet the asylum's patient, Lorie. Who is about to get her medicine.

The Asylum, part 2

Honestly, I feel like the quality does bump up in later pages but I do get pleased with the end results. I don't know about the black and white aesthetic, feels a tad noir. What do you think? Because this page is actually colored, it just has a filter to it.

Still I hope I can keep pumping these out at a steady pace while working on other stuff.

The next page of the mini comic.

All is quiet at the Pengroove building as Haylee makes her rounds down the corridors, with extra attention to a particular patient.

The Asylum, Part 1

Well... I'm certainly glad that I managed to finish the comic but also at awe that it took me so long to finish inking the pages. I don't know if i'm being held back by anything like work or other hobbies or if it's standard procedure but at this rate, my desire to start a comic or something is becoming infinitely more complicated.

Anyway, the coloring was tricky here. See, at first I thought i could use use shading and lighting for the whole thing, but since this comic takes place in the night, I threw the shadow on everything. and as I began adding more layers to the dark, I realized that i might as well color it and just desaturate everything (which i only applied for the last 2 panels).

Regardless, now that it's over, I just can't help but see the flaws and dislike them >>.

But that's just me... let me know what you think.

The start of a new mini-comic. In an dark evening in a place branded as an asylum. What can possibly happen?

Keyword Event S: Uniform + Survival + Fruitbat

The present submission was provided by cylonmaverick who provided the words: Uniform,  Survival and Fruitbat.

And here is my take on the idea. Hope its of everyone's liking.

Keyword Event P: Unexpected + Survival + Ice cream

Here is the next image, exclusive for patrons for the words:  Unexpected + Survival + Ice cream

This was probably a tad too much for the first time trying out this event format, 2 ethereal keywords and a seemingly random noun. So I tried to make the most of it to capture at least an idea that contains those points.

It was still good drawing practice.

Keyword event: Mermaid Fruitbat

This is the piece requested by popular demand: Words for this one were Mermaid + Fruitbat.

Here we have a mermaid that finds herself dealing with a case of vampirism ( or rather fruit vampirism) quite tame, except for the physical transformation.

Sketch - trials of fantasy times

Its been a while since I did anything of note. Swamped around with work and many projects my output has been slowed. Not helped by the fact that the most recent chapter of my stories is about 20 k words, i also have this little project i'm working on.

About a third of the pages are in this state, with no colors nor dialog included. So I estimate it might take a while (or a good day of work) to make substantial progress.

Still, I figured you might be intrigued by whats to come. Let me know if you'd want to see more of these WIP pages

Mane & Tail

This is a bit of a classic idea. Started as a bit of a character and pose practice, I feel like I went a bit too far with the concept. Rather than giving it the bare bones treatment of leaving it in lineart, I added some fancy coloring, a background and just as many details as I could before i would run out of steam (one of the details i just realize now shoud've been included is steam).

As per usual, any comment is appreciated

Well, this was a fun little project. We reached the end of this small intro to the concept of this spinoff pokemon adventure.

I feel like i was running all the time I worked on it. There are certainly some details that could've been worked on or that were somewhat simplified. It goes to show much does the lack of prep work can affect the idea of a comic.

But yeah, logic is that Cecilia was to have her own little adventure learning how rough pokemon battles can be. I certainly don't feel like i'm ready to make that level of action.

Still, any sort of comment is appreciated.

Alright, one more page to go. It's been a blast, to be honest to draw all this. Though if I were to carry on with this idea, I should certainly have to practice drawing pokemorphs and other characters. I hope to get into it as my mood gets better, if it does.

As per usual, any comment is appreciated,

These last weeks have been trials for me. Mood wise and in RL and work stuff >>.  And with me writing for Whateley universe on the side, it has slowed my output quite a bit, something I always try to remedy with dedication but ends up with distraction, but i try regardless.

Anyway, here we have the next page of the sequence, carrying on with the change, I'll be wrapping this up quite soon, I hope and well hopefully figure out how to work with my new cintiq tablet.

Sorry this one took so long. Classes and work are taking their toll on me and with the whateley chapter being overdue, I have my attention split. I really need something to pick up my mood though none seems in sight.

Anyway, here we have the next page of the sequence, carrying on with the change, which might last a couple more pages before I wrap this up. I kinda happy with this sequence, I just wish I was better ^^;

Guardian's loot

The last picture of the sequence that began with https://www.patreon.com/posts/31730986 and was followed with https://www.patreon.com/posts/32549618.

To be fair, I hoped to add a bit more of it, but this seems like a good finish point, a a rather decent trial run of this new line based coloring method.

Sorry for the low output this month. A lot of homeworks are racking up at a faster rate and this week is going to be hectic. I can barely set myself for any plans to future (nor bring up enough motivation to plow through stuff)

As usual, any sort of comment is appreciated

The next page of the 7th pkmn comic.  Not sure how many of these will be, my guess is about 10  or so.

This one was a bit tricky since I lost some of the consistency when it came to some details. A bit of a reminder that I have to standardize the process and get more efficient at this sort of stuff

Sketch - Guardless loot

This is a reworked sketch I planned to use for the caption contest. The idea was to give the viewers a situation and for them to come up with the context.

However, feeling a tad behind schedule I decided to go on ahead and pick the best of the two possible alternatives.
