Affection Values

So something I've been toying around with for a little bit is player feedback for when make choices that increase or decrease affection with characters. On one hand, I feel that if you know how impactful your choice is or if you choose wrong then going back and choosing a different option becomes more of a priority and pulls you out of the story. But at the same time, knowing what selections are actually doing things (because not all of them do stuff) might help?

What's in this update?

- Day 6 (Tyson, Roswell)
- Day 7(Partial) (Tyson)

As per the results of the poll held, Tyson won the first updated route. As such, he's got a password scenario to play through. Also, because everyone else had a flashback/origin story of sorts, Roswell gets his to keep things fair. For everyone else, their routes end at lunch time.

Launch Schedule (May)

Given when everyone else is launching their content, mid-month seems to be a solid time to launch new builds. That said, this will come down to Patron-Preference.

Launch Schedule (April)

First thing to note, is the 27th of April being Hyena Day. Given the results of the poll for the MC's species, I feel it's pretty much certain that we've got a canon species to work from.  As far as unveiling, I feel like the 27th is going to be a good target to aim for; ideally as a new title screen at minimum, but I'd be pushing for some sort of character interaction CG to put into the game as it currently stands or in the next update.

A few things to keep in mind though. I've written the outlines of each, and I can confirm that almost all of them at the moment involve death in one form or another. So either vote for the character you want to save from their fate, or throw another character under the bus! At this stage I'm planning on having the next build out by Friday. This should have everyone up to the start of day 6 at the least. There are some assets that, at the moment I'm struggling to put together but it'll be playable.

April/May Release Schedule

Here's where we're sitting for the next few stages:

April: Despite being a couple days left, we have one last build coming up to round off the month. This will have up to Day 4, through to the start of Day 5. There's a few typos here and there, but there'll be a Google Doc created soon to keep tabs of any that crop up in any future builds. This will be a living document. There we go! An update!

Day 3 is playable, although you're locked into only one character route for it for now. The others will be easier to get in there now that the framework is done. 

Decided to try something with text colouring that I remembered from the old N64 days so we'll see how that goes. I'm thinking of having text colour be different for narration versus internal thought versus speech but that's purely cosmetic and thus not a priority.

March Update Schedule

Now that we're in March, it's time to see where we're looking as far as builds go!

The current build is likely to be the most "generic" route until the end of the month given how big Day 3 is shaping up to be, but we'll be hopefully getting two routes officially started by the end of the month.

Character Preview - Tyson

To round out the cast we have Tyson.

He's the obligatory "I'm mean because reasons" character. Put simply, Tyson used to be the school bully, and one of the common threads connecting all the characters together. Having been bigger than most of the others for most of school, he's relied mostly on his brawn and created very much a "my way or the highway" attitude towards things.

Demo and Delays

Apparently I broke Ren'py when I was making the demo build. So... It'll be up soon! I just have to go figure out what I did and fix it up. As far as demos go, it'll be free to everyone as the first public demo. It's only two days as I'm still fleshing out the third and fourth days. 

Once Day 4 is up and running, I'll put a build up for public access and then any additional updates from then on will be Patron-Only as they'll be the more specific character routes.

Achievements/Trophies?

I'm torn on this. I'm personally a fan when I'm playing much bigger games, but part of them almost feels off in the visual novels I've played. My thoughts were keeping tabs of what endings you've seen and then maybe use them as triggers to check for alternate endings or something?

I plan on having the art available eventually, in-game in a gallery but if I'm adding menu features I figured it'd be worthy to maybe consider this too?

What do you guys think? Do we want achievements?

Passwords

So the namesake of the game is going to take you to a room known as The Vault.
