Took a week off but kinda didn't

The good news is that I think the sex part of the next animation is pretty close to blocked out. The major movements are done, it'll just be a couple of passes afterwards for things like limbs going through each other, micro-movements, faces, blinking and eyes. Theoretically, it shouldn't take very much longer. A few days of sitting it down will get this part of the story finished and ready for the next section which continues the story and provides the hook for the next vote.

Update 23/10/2020: The cycle of pain begins again...

More extra stuff (really nearly done)

I can genuinely say this will be done in the next few days!

I've got this major part rendering right at this minute, which will run overnight. I've started doing simple demo renders of scenes to work out timings and see any glitches before I sink hours into the final render. By cranking all the settings down to minimal, I can get about 3-4 seconds per frame running, rather than the full 75 second/frame with everything on full with fur.

I started replacing the shitty scenes I showed off last week and have now got about 50s of animation queued up for rendering. The first block has about 5s of good footage but the previous 5s was waaaay too fast so I've slowed it down and will be rerendering.

I am so sorry for what is in this video!

The story behind it is that I've been working away on it and thought I had something worth using. I rendered out all of it and was convinced the shoddy stuff could be ignored. Further update 5/9/20

Thanks to the poll, I think I'll go with splitting the episodes up into chunks for expediency, then releasing the full episode at the end. This means I can keep content going even when there's big sections to work on, and lets me be a bit more regular during uncertain living situations.

Technically, I'm still on holiday, but I got in a bit of riding over the 5 days I was actually away despite two huge storms that hit the UK and left me without any dry biking clothes, so I returned home to clean up, restock and head out again.

Update 19/8/20 - Time off

Just a quick update on this stuff.

Animation has started on the next episode, and so far I've got about 34 seconds rendered out and good to go, with another 6 seconds needing re-rendered because it had issues. I'm having a sneaking suspicion this is going to be the longest episode so far.

State of play: 14/8/20

I've tried to start animating, but it's just not happening so I gave up.

It turns out the new version of Efa just does not work. She keeps noodlifying and flopping around all over the place. It's not a good model or rig, so I went back to the drawing board with her. At this current stage, I'm just finishing up modelling her feet again into a slightly lower poly mesh, and took the opportunity to fix her teeth as well.

Quick update - Progress slow 8/8/20

Unfortunately, there's not been much in the way of real progress on the next episode.

I've got a rough script fleshed out, I know more or less how it's going to play out, scenes, actions and so on. I've even animated the first part of the first scene and rendered it. But it was shit.

Weird stuff while building a new Efa

Felt this one was worth sharing.

I've spent most of the day rigging and weight painting the new Efa model. This means a lot of Inverse Kinematics, control bones and so on.

Turns out, I did something a little incorrect somewhere along the line...

There seems to be a thing with Firefox not liking videos from Drive, so you might need to download. It should work with Chrome though.

Final final update (damn it)

The last render just completed. 

I switched to Video Editor mode.

I plugged in the final fixed bit of footage.

I edited the bits around it, ready to tweak the timeline a bit and get the final cut ready for intro, outro and music.

I notice the final clip is 700 frames short.

I'm so nearly there.

Unexpected working hours, sickness and other stuff have been trying to stop me from hitting my target. A late delivery of Indomitus turning up tomorrow looks set to try and grab my attention as well, but that's ok.

Efa V1 announcement

Just a quick update but also to record this and remind myself for later...

I've been working more on Efa Version 2. Her rigging is almost complete and a lot of the Inverse Kinematic rigging is completed. She's still not quite done, but she's coming along nicely, and once I get this episode released I should be able to take a day or two to get her finished up before working on the next episode.

Update 16-7-20

Good news! It's now up to about 1min36 of rendered footage and some complex stuff now out of the way.

One of the big issues I hit was a new way of handling jiggle physics, which are needed. Without going too complex, with the last system you could simulate the movement of the bones controlling jiggle then bake that motion, meaning it plays back the same each time.
