STnS: Chapter 216

This is just what I need. Another jealous idiot.

It had been a while since he had to deal with someone who didn’t know their place. The last time he really needed to beat some arrogant young master who coveted one of his women was… when was it? He paused, tilted his head, and thought for a moment. It must have been back when he was a kid. Ming Shen was the eldest son of the Ming Family. He often tried to get Wu Meiying to marry him and had even tried pressuring the Wu Clan....

STnS: Chapter 215

Wu Jian, Hou Jingshu, Zhou Lihua, and the others were up bright and early the next morning. No one seemed to know about the conversation that took place between the three of them last night. However, Zhou Wen had eyed them suspiciously. Wu Jian did his best to pretend he hadn’t seen her looking their way. Nothing good would come from appearing guilty--not that he had anything to feel guilty about.

Nothing happened, much to his disappointment.

Everyone ate breakfast in the mess h...

“This is beautiful,” Wu Jian breathed.

Hua Xue almost seemed to thrust out her chest with pride. “That sword is called Pale Moon. I found it a long time ago in a legacy tomb. I doubt you will ever find a better sword on this world than the one you now hold.”

Wu Jian believed her. He could feel the sword’s will after Hua Xue handed the weapon over. It almost felt alive. A vibrant thrum raced through his body. If he had to describe what he felt with words, he would say it ...

STnS: Chapter 213

Everyone awoke early the next morning, ate breakfast, and headed out under the watchful eyes of Yu Chenguang and his two wives.

Because Long Pass was so narrow, they were unable to take their carriage and had to walk. Hou Jingshu and Zhou Lihua were at least afforded horses. Yu Mao was allowed to ride with the princess, though that was because she had complained about walking. Wu Jian walked alongside the two horses while Yu Chenguang, Li Hua, and Liu Heifeng walked in a formation with ...

STnS: Chapter 212

Hou Jingshu stiffened up like a wood plank. While Zhou Lihua studied her friend in worry, Wu Jian turned around to find Hou Kun naught but several jin away. He wore the same arrogant smirk Wu Jian remembered from last time. Mixed in that expression, however, was anger.

Hou Kun wore different clothing this time than he had last time. The red hanfu looked like flames that writhed as he moved. Whatever the fabric was made from, it must have been very expensive. The bo staff he had used las...

STnS: Chapter 211

The little girl was like a lightning bolt as she raced toward Hou Jingshu, who knelt and spread out her arms to catch the child. The young girl couldn’t have been older than nine or ten. She had the same hair color as the woman on Yu Changuang’s left, a somewhat lighter shade of brown. Her eyes, however, were the color of chocolate. She had fair, peach-like skin and chubby little cheeks. If Wu Jian had to describe her, he would have said she was cute as a button.

“Mao’er, what a...

“I’m sorry, Jingshu,” Wu Jian said after thoroughly studying the emperor’s body.

Hou Jingshu closed her eyes, took a deep, slow breath, then released it. She slowly relaxed the hands that had been clenched into fists.

“It’s okay.” She opened her eyes and smiled at him. “I knew the possibility that you would be able to cure him was a long shot. Don’t worry. So long as we get the Ten Thousand Year Spirit Spring Water from Hua Xue, we can have someone refine the Nir...

The carriage ride was quiet. Hou Jingshu didn’t speak the entire time. She just leaned into Wu Jian’s side as though seeking comfort, and he returned her embrace. He was glad she didn’t feel like talking. There was a lot on his mind as well.

No words were spoken even after reaching the academy. Several people whispered when they walked by, but none of them spoke. Even Ding Hong, who saw them as they walked through the Outer Courtyard, was tactful enough to realize something had ha...

Zhou Lihua stared into her cauldron. She took several deep breaths, holding it, then breathing out slowly. Her hand hovered over a set of ingredients placed in little boxes to her left as she inspected each one with her chi. She could tell what kind of condition they were in simply from letting her chi hover over them.

Another deep breath later and Zhou Lihua tossed one of the ingredients into the cauldron. She held out her hands and pushed her chi outward, turning it into an alchemical...

Wu Jian found himself sandwiched between Zhou Lihua and Hou Jingshu. It had only been a few minutes since he had returned. The vivacious heiress of the Zhou Clan had only just released his lips. He was certain she was acting this lasciviously because he and Hou Jingshu were intimate. This was most definitely revenge on the princess for sleeping with him all the time while she was forced to retain her chastity.

It seemed to have its intended effect. Hou Jingshu was glaring at Zhou Lihua ...

“Messing with you? What makes you say that?” asked Wu Jian.

“Don’t play dumb.” Hou Kun’s glare grew even more fierce. “You’ve been going easy on me this entire time. You think I can’t tell? I wasn’t born yesterday. I know when someone isn’t taking a fight seriously.”

Wu Jian shrugged. “I guess you caught me. I meant no offense, but the truth is, you’re not strong enough to make me go all out.”

Hou Kun clenched and unclenched his hands, knuckles ...

The next day was when the match between Wu Jian and Hou Kun was set to take place. Mun Han had made the announcement not even an hour after Wu Jian left. He woke up early that morning to find that everyone and their mother seemed to already know about the match. People stared at him when he came down for breakfast, and they whispered in not-so-hushed tones as he tried to eat in peace. He wondered if he should tell everyone that he could hear everything they said with perfect clarity, but he c...

Wu Jian was too shocked to speak for a moment. His hand went up to his mask, fingers caressing the cool surface. It was an instinctive reaction to the words this man spoke--and he was definitely a man. Of that Wu Jian had no doubts anymore. His voice was too deep to be a woman’s.

“Unfortunately, My Lord, my honor has been stained, and I made a promise to myself to not remove this mask until I have restored my honor,” Wu Jian said. Bringing his hand away from his mask, he performed...

The table in the meeting hall was longer than it was wide and spanned the length of the entire room, which was every bit as gaudy as the rest of this palace. Walls surrounded them all on sides. This was unusual given that the architecture of this palace was designed to be open so its residents could enjoy the splendor of its many gardens, but that was also the reason this room had been chosen.

Some conversations had to remain behind closed doors.

Several people were already sittin...

“Victory goes to Jian Wu! That’s another one in the bag for our newest contender! That makes this is tenth straight win in a row! And his tenth straight win in a single blow! We’ve never had someone quite like him in our arena!”

Wu Jian sighed as he looked at the people cheering in the arena stands, then at the other contender, who was even now getting carried away on a stretcher. It felt like the battle had only begun before it ended. The man had practically walked right into h...

It took two full days of work to harvest everything from the Hell Ape. Every part of the corpse was valuable in some way. The organs could be either cooked or used in medicine, the hide and bones made extremely durable armor and clothing, and of course, the spirit core was the most valuable item of all.

Spirit cores could either be used in alchemy or as the base for a profound spirit weapon and armor. The type of spirit core used in the creation of armor and weapons created specific ef...

Wu Jian looked back at the corpse. He hadn’t realized it was such a powerful magical beast, but it had definitely been strong. If he hadn’t been a practitioner in the Dao of Space, there was no way he would have been able to defeat it. He would have died ingloriously and all his ambitions would have ended here.

He shuddered.

I might have still died if it wasn’t for Yōuměi. Several of those attacks would have killed me if not for her.

Speaking of, Yōuměi wa...

STnS: Chapter 199

Yu Qian raced through the forest with the head elder. The much older man was in the lead, jumping from branch to branch so quickly his feet barely seemed to touch bark. This man was light on his feet. Despite the situation, Yu Qian could not help but admire how much control the head elder had over his chi.

“We’re coming up on the battle site! Remember, do not engage under any circumstances!” the head elder commander.

“Yes, head elder,” Yu Qian said, though reluctantly. View Post

STnS: Chapter 198

Yu Qian was sitting inside of the stronghold’s café, quietly taking sips of a very strong green tea. He had long ago perfected the art of tea making. He would dare say his tea making skills were on par with the most skilled geisha in the Shang Kingdom. Some people might consider this unmanly, but he loved the flavor of tea and felt like learning the art of tea making was the best way to show his respect for tea.

It’s been two days… I expected Jian Wu to have already arrived, ...

Wu Jian raced through the forest at speeds that far surpassed anything even most Asura Realm cultivators could manage. He had been traveling in the direction that Yōuměi had pointed toward. It seemed that, wherever his destination was, it was quite far.

Xia Lin was unable to keep up with him, and thus he was carrying the woman piggyback. She had blushed when he told her to hop on and tried to tell him that wasn’t necessary. He was having none of it. They needed to travel fast.

Wu Jian glanced at a tree that towered over him like a goliath. Its giant trunk was so massive that it would take fifteen of him holding hands to encircle it. Leaves so large they looked like blankets hung from branches that were twisted in a myriad of ways.

“We should come up with a plan to decide on how we want to get our tokens,” Wu Jian said, stopping near the tree and placing his hand against its trunk.

Xia Lin nodded. “Hmmm. I agree. The way I see it, there are two met...

With the exhibition match finished and the number of hopeful students cut in half, the remaining students taking the Inner Court Admission Exam were led by Yu Qian and several instructors to an old forest.

The forest was not located at the academy. It wasn’t even in the Shang Kingdom Imperial Capital. Everyone who was participating boarded an airship that flew them nearly a hundred lî from the capital.

Wu Jian had seen it from the air, the vast forest that seemed to stretch out...
