Resource Wednesday-gritty texture

Shown on one of Khimeros's minipets, the necros. 

The gritty texture itself is available for download. You can lay it under shading or place it over images on either overlay or multiply (or any other fancy layer type) for different effects.

Funny story about this one.... I thought I'd lost it for the longest time. Could not find it anywhere, so I drew the commissioner a new one gratis and apologized like a madwoman for misplacing it (he was incredibly gracious).  Just as I was about to send the second one, the first one turned up. I was so freakin' happy. I was able to ship them both together.

Do you guys remember Sliders? It was such an awful show but for some reason it really stuck with me. Every time something has gone odd my brother and I suggest to each other that we might have slid into another universe. 

A peep at my day job

I thought it'd be interesting to show you the sort of thing I do day to day at my job. It ranges from backgrounds to pets to items. The recolorable bases are a complex system of layers so that any color can be applied and each marking you see is a separate layer. For the main pets I do something like 20 markings each. Also the accessories for the werewolf like the collar, blood, shackles, and wings, all are separate bases with shading, highlighting, etc. to be recolored. So something small can b...

Still fooling around in photoshop. I'm going to see about putting some color on this one via layer effects. It's not a look that I especially enjoy and I'm super tired of all the smudgy grey stuff the concept art industry is churning out these days, but I feel like it'd be a worthwhile thing to learn.

Turning anime into actual ethnicities, woah. Atem's bara daddy is creepy as shit and not historically anything so I'm sliiiiiding him in there as Akhenaten's eldest son, Tutankhaten's older brother. Bllooooop, there it is, I just did it. Long live the Aten. Feed me some of that sweet, sweet life force. 

Done in various, pencil and ballpoint.
