wip-photon will certainly be finished. super happy with that one.

more SNES fun

been playing more with doing stuff with the super famicom's sound chip. the "spc700" stuff here is recorded directly from actual hardware. pretty cool what you can crunch down to 64kb at a time! i mean, i'm no stranger to that, i grew up with trackers, but it's just a wonder to hear these things from that hardware. still don't like its built in filtering, but it's interesting to play with regardless, and explore sounds that none of the people that worked on the console actually did.

exploring the SNES' potential

the super famicom has one of my least favorite soundchips. it's muddy and doesn't do all that much. but that doesn't mean i won't explore it.

here's a tune i put together as a theory that the SNES will really bump some funky lo-fi stuff. turns out: yes, it will!

this MP3 is recorded from an actual Super Famicom using an SPC i wrote being played back on a SD2SNES cartridge. i'm also attaching the original SPC file.

some tracker files

here's something unusual for y'all: a bunch of tracker files. some S3M and IT files are in here. various chiptune stuff, some ERGOSPHERE files, some Shark Attack stuff... just some goodies i was able to dig out and optimize. a bunch of stuff isn't in here because it relies on plugins, etc, and i prefer not to deal with releasing that.

these all play best in current builds of openMPT with all sample anti-aliasing disabled.

"w" eventually became true fossil soul. "twinkle" is unused so far and will probably remain that way. "deserve" is something i kinda wanted to go further with but have no idea how to right now. maybe later on.
