Do you like sci-fi?? You gotta watch it!

We watched the latest film Oxygen which I had never heard of nor did I know what it was about.

And I thought it was awesome.

If you like sci-fi and films that are a bit different, I would totally recommend it. But don't read the synopsis! Go into the film with no knowledge and you'll love it even more. It's in French, though, so you'll need to set down your phone and read the subtitles.

Also I love Mélanie Laurent - she's wonderful.

Overall I really e...

Pretty good!

Recently I went to the cinema and saw House of Gucci - it was pretty good! I didn't know the real story, which I think helped, so I had no idea how it was going to end. It's long, though, and my butt was getting tired by the end.

Good performances, though! Although the fake-Italian accents is a bit weird at first.. but eventually you stop noticing it.

Overall it was a good movie! It was nice seeing a movie in a theatre again, too.

November Book Club Review - I LOVED IT!

This month I read The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman and I truly loved it! Honestly, I finished it in like, 3 days. It was really sweet and funny and clever! I've never read a book set so specifically in Kent before, so that was fun, too!

If you'd like to read this one, you can get it via Amazon here.

I'll definitely be reading the second and third book in the future, but I think I'm goin...

Who said it's not Spooky Month?

Recently my partner mentioned that he's never seen Insidious - so we had to watch it!

I remember it being really creepy but with a silly ending. It's pretty much as I thought, but it didn't hold up too well, either. It's still a pretty fun, spooky film but not as scary as I remember it being. I still think The Conjuring is a lot scarier if we have to pick a better Patrick Wilson horror film!

I don't think I ever bothered watching the othe...

Fabulous show!

If you're looking for a new show, I can't recommend Yellowstone enough! There's currently 3 seasons out, (all ready for you to binge) and they've just started Season 4!

"John Dutton, patriarch of a Montana ranching family and owner of the largest ranch in the U.S., fights to defend his land and his family from the modern-day forces that threaten his way of life."

The story is interesting, the characters and acting is great, and the scenery is beautiful! R...

November Book Club!

Hi everyone!

For November I'm going to be reading The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman (you can buy it here from Amazon)

I'll be honest. I've started this one early. And I'm LOVING it so far. I always meant to read it before but never got around to it. Thanks so much to Aaron for sending this to the PO Box! It's really easy to read and I catch myself smiling along. It's also really neat to read s...

October Book REVIEW - Dark, but not bad!

This month I read The Weight of Blood by Laura McHugh (you can buy it on Amazon here if you want!)

Like a lot of the books I read, I really had no idea what this was about. I never read the back cover of the book (if I can help it) and pick it based on someone else's recommendation.

I thought it was good! Not incre...

Okay I guess!

This month we watched Don't Breathe 2 and I have a lot of ranting and raving to do but I'll keep it short and spoiler-free.

If you're looking for a spooky thriller, Don't Breath is incredible. It's so surprising and I really enjoyed the film - go watch it!

Don't Breath 2 is such a weird storyline that turns our villain into a hero? Even after everything that happened in the previous film?? Why??? You could easily watch the second one without seeing the first, they...

Great spooky show!

Like most of the world, I watched Squid Game on Netflix and thought it was great! It's obviously subtitled, and some of them did NOT adequately translate... but I thought it was a great show.

I didn't really understand why everyone was saying "it's the best thing ever" but as you get further into it, and the contestants are faced with worse moral dilemmas, it really hit me! The sets are great, the idea is interesting and I happily binged the whole show!

I also rea...

Spooky Month viewing!

This Spooky Month I watched Midnight Mass, the new Mike Flanagan show on Netflix! I loved Haunting of Hill House (and to a much lesser extent, Bly Manor) so I wanted to try this one, too.

I thought it was good!!

It's certainly a slow burn, and for the first new episodes, I really didn't know where we were going or what the big deal was... until BAM. Everything starts happening. I thought the acting was good, the set was creepy and it was a really interesting idea!...

Classic (sort of) spooky alert!

I FINALLY watched the original Saw for Spooky Month. I never watched them before because I hate super-gory movies, but I didn't realise that the first Saw is different. It actually reminded me a bit of Se7en - one of my favourite spooky crime-thrillers!

It's still pretty gross, and I wouldn't recommend my mom watching it... but I was actually really surprised by this one! Way better than I thought. And I actually never knew about any of the twists becau...

I just wanted to post a little update about pledges and different currencies. Originally, I could only accept Patreon pledges in USD (annoying). FINALLY Patreon released an update that Patreon pledges could be accepted in a few different currencies (USD, GPB and EURO being the big ones).

I had posted about it before but it can be hard for new Patreon members to see old posts sometimes.

New spookem!

Recently we watched Caveat. I'm not sure how we found it or WHY we chose it but it seemed kind of creepy. And it was OK! A low-budget spookem that I wasn't totally sure where it was going. A bit weird, but sometimes you need that in a scary movie.

"An effective spine-tingler despite clear budget constraints, Caveat suggests a deliciously dark filmmaking future for writer-director Damian Mc Carthy."

I think we watched it on "2021-10-08 18:00:06 +0000 UTC View Post

Happy Spooky Month, y'all lol

What a movie. Oh my god.

We watched the new film Malignant and WOW. If you like cheesy B-horror films, please watch this. It's absolutely ridiculous and I was screaming at the screen - a LOT of fun and very silly. Some spooky parts, sure, but not that scary.

"Although Malignant isn't particularly scary, director James Wan's return to horror contains plenty of gory thrills -- and a memorably bonkers twist"

No spoilers, though! Don't read anything mor...

Love it or hate it!

Recently I watched The Green Knight and as you can see from the Rotten Tomatoes score, it's pretty divided!

I thought the film was beautiful and very strange. If you go into it knowing that it's a medieval tale trying to teach something, I think that helps understand what's going on.

"The Green Knight honors and deconstructs its source material in equal measure, producing an absorbing adventure that casts a fantastical spell"

"For better an...

New book alert - Oct Book Club!

Hey everyone! This month I'm reading The Weight of Blood (you can buy it here if you want to read along).
