Wow!!

We watched the new series The Investigation on BBC IPlayer - wow! It's a tough watch and a slow burn, but really well done. The show covers the recent murder of journalist Kim Wall in Denmark after she boarded a homemade submarine. You might have heard it about - the story is equally bonkers and awful.

Zombies, anyone?

I've been seeing ads on Netflix for Army of the Dead constantly so we finally watched it - it was fine! Not bad for a horror/zombie movie as they typically aren't very good. It's long, too, but doesn't feel too long.

Overall it was fine! Fun in parts! Obvious in others. I can't say I've seen another zombie heist film before, so that's new. Worth a watch if you're looking for something a bit spooky/zombie.

Oof

Finally watched Nomadland after it won Best Picture at the Oscars. Oof. It's a rough watch and I certainly didn't feel that great watching it, but the movie is incredible. It really hit me harder than I was expecting. It's beautifully shot, incredible acting and a really interesting look at a life that was pushed on a lot of people after the recession.

We watched Stowaway after getting it recommended on our Netflix homepage. I love space movies, so why not? 

It was fine, but certainly not awesome. I don't think I like Anna Kendrick that much... I'm not totally sure why. The plot is really interesting but I feel like it falls apart a bit. Still worth a watch if you're looking for something!

New season alert!

Recently I binged the first two seasons of Master of None on Netflix and loved it! The writing and stories are incredible - and even if you've never been young, single and living in New York City, there is so much stuff to relate to. Family, relationships, work, travel! I really enjoyed the first two seasons a lot.

It's so good!

Recently, for the first time, I watched the entire series of Veep! I loved it! Even if you're not really into American politics, or don't know much about Washington, it's still so hilariously awesome. The acting is incredible and from what I've heard - it's shockingly close to what the White House is really like.

If you're looking for a comedy TV series, I totally recommend giving Veep a try!

This one is wild and strange but if you're up for it, it was a lot of weird fun! In a Valley of Violence isn't a film I would recommend to just anyone!

Ethan Hawke is great and his dog is wonderful (such a good boi). Everything is strange but it was a fun watch, especially with a big bowl of popcorn! It's a nod to classic westerns but with an absurd twist.

Oh also it has John Travolta lol

The book was better! (shocking)

Recently I watched the new film "Those Who Wish Me Dead" - I actually read the book a few years ago but didn't remember much. I do remember the book was really good, though, and the movie was just OK. Pretty typical, nothing outrageous but had lots of recognisable faces.

It was difficult to get into though because it was next to impossible to imagine Angelina Jolie as a firefighter...

Worth a watch if you want a typical action-thriller, though!

I FINALLY finished April's Book Club book!

Hello from the new flat!

Hi everyone!!

Thank you all for your kind words during this stressful move! We made it into the flat OK and the big grey sofa fit up the stairs, hallelujah! 

We still have a lot of unpacking to do, but that will happen in time. There are no closets or storage here (🙃) so we'll need to buy some shelving, cabinets etc before most of our stuff can be put away. All in good time!

Recently I watched The Dry with Eric Bana and I loved it!!!!!! Please watch it! It's my favourite genre - crime/mystery/thriller!

The Dry is such a good story with great acting. It might feel a little bit slow at parts, but I loved it. I would definitely recommend it if you like a mystery!

Do you like arty movies that leave you thinking "WTF??"

Recently I watched Come True... and I have some feelings. But I don't want to spoil it.

I will say - it's got a great atmosphere, really neat aesthetic and an interesting idea. But my god - HUH??? If that type of movie annoys you, better skip this one. But if you're willing to try an arty horror film, give it a shot!

Pretty silly and so much fun!

You know those nights where you just want to watch an action film? That doesn't have too much substance but has a lot of violence? Check out Nobody! It's pretty silly and over-the-top but a lot of fun, too. Think John Wick but with Bob Odenkirk as an ageing Dad, instead.

I'd definitely recommend it if you're into that kind of thing! My mum watched it and said: "It was OK... there's quite a lot of shooting..."

With Season 6 just finished, we have to talk about Line of Duty - I loved it! I'm always partial to some type of murder-mystery-cop-detective-type thing, but things was really fun. There were so many twists that I didn't see coming and I really enjoyed it over all.

We binged it on BBC iPlayer in a few weeks - really recommend it!!
