The Heart Nebula
Hey guys! I should really start doing these earlier, since the first event actually happens tonight. Here's a quick rundown of what is happening in our skies this month:
March 9th: Supermoon!
The moon will be full and appear slightly brighter and larger than usual. I'll be shooting it once its high in the sky, but try to watch it rise on the horizon. It will look huge and beautiful when it does!
March 20th: March Equinox.
The sun will be directly over the equator. Nothing...
Try to find all the background galaxies! I counted 17. There may be more.

How many galaxies do you see in the background?

This is a blend of 50 of my favorite moon shots taken over the last year, all combined into one high resolution image.

2/8 Super Snow Moon:
For the second year in a row, February's full moon is also a supermoon, and the moon will appear slightly larger in the night sky, and be significantly brighter. This happens when the moon is in its perigee, the closest part of its elliptical orbit. I plan on getting a shot of this full moon to share with you, weather permitting.

Re-uploaded because the last one was an earlier draft where the stars still looked awful (getting them to look right is one of the hardest parts of this process). This was the moon last night at 62% illuminated. I'll probably have a print for sale soon as well.
