Voukoder Pro

You've probably heard about the mysterious Voukoder successor app I've been working on for years. This application was completely rewritten, and I even made sure I can compile it for both MacOS and Linux as well.

However, the app called "Voukoder Pro" is currently in beta at best. It works basically, but I haven't added all the functionality (filters, encoders, post processing, ...) yet.

But I want to give you a chance to test it and I'm curious about your feedback.

Good news in difficult times ...

Voukoder 4

I like the idea of giving my patrons some kind of bonus other people don't get. And what's better than giving you early an access to releases?

Compared to 4rc1 you can now trim the audio tracks (i.e. for the shifted AAC audio). And the issue with having a single log file next to the exported file has been fixed.

The official version 4 release to the public will follow in some days.

My dear patrons ...

Version 3 was a big release from my point of view. Getting it working with all the connectors was basically required for legal reasons. But it also helped to create a clean interface to Voukoder making it easy to add Voukoder support to other progams like VirtualDub 2 ;) (or any other program).

Almost reached my first goal ...

It's been some time since I posted last on patreon, but I am more active on twitter and the forum. So feel free to follow me there to stay up-to-date on this project.

But I'd like to use this post to send some BIG thanks to all my patrons for the amazing and continuing support. Without you this project would definitely not be where it is right now!

It was - and still is - a hard time to develop a plugin like this. Especially when it's supposed to be working on tho...

Some changes ...

I am working on the Voukoder for over 2 years now. But it is still just a hobby project to me that I am doing in my spare time (after my 8 hour day job + weekends). Unfortunately the side work is getting more and more and programming after my regular working time is getting harder and harder.

I made the decision to work only 4 days / week in my day job from march on for a period of 3 months so I have one full day for Voukoder. I hope I can finish most of the piled up work and get my hea...

Another month has passed and I'm focussing pretty much on Voukoder 2. I made some huge progress recently after having some idle time and in this post I'd like to show you another nice feature of the new version:

The Export Preview

Currently it will you some stats about the encoding progress:

• Frame counter
• FPS counter (I know many of you will like it!)
• Live logging console

Do you have any ideas for more stats? It's quite empty and...

A september review ...

I have/had quite some holidays in september and october and there was not that much of voukoder development. But still: I released version 1.1.0 today with one new encoder and some little improvements. But most of my development time I spent on voukoder 2. It is in a private git repository at the moment but I will make it public with the first release.

A little late ...

Okay, I have to admit I'm a little late with this post. Normally I'd like to write a little summary of what has happend by the end of each month.

One big thing has happened: We have officially reached version 1.0 which is an amazing achievement! Actually the latest pre-release version is even 1.0.2. Some bugs have been fixed and there is a first prototype of "piping" included. This allows to forward ("pipe") the muxed data stream to an external program. My first month on Patreon!

Looking back at my first month on Patreon is a positive view. Funding the development of the voukoder is my biggest and hardest challenge in this project. Patreon is a great opportunity to help creators with this task and I just had to try it and ... got you 4 patrons! Thats great! I hope some more will follow but you guys will always be the first ones!

Nightly builds available!

It is quite an advantage to be a TeamCity administrator in my regular work when I need the same software for my open source projects. But still, it took me a couple of weeks to set it up properly, secure it with SSL and finally make the nightly builds available to my patrons (requires 2nd tier at least).

These nightly builds will be built at 4:00am CET from the GIT master branch. So you have the chance to test all features I am currently working on before everybody else!
