There's a lot of home in this piece. Winter is ending and the world is quiet, holding its breath for spring.
Extra stuff: Four panels for some details you might have missed, and a desaturated version of the scene - I paid a lot of attention to values while I worked on this painting.

A little portrait for a friend - and also an experiment in dry brush textures! I was curious to see what I could do without any blending.
My paintings often go through a lot of major changes! Here I ultimately swapped out the placeholder background for tree shapes, and dropped some hours into paw/hand that didn't make the final cut. Always make sure you have the most up-to-date character references. ;3
