It's trouser time, Charm Scouts! These ’40s style trousers are so elegant, they’ll have you feeling like a Hollywood icon. With a beautiful pleated front, a generously cut cuffed leg, and roomy pockets, these trousers are both functional and flattering. Choose between a high shaped waistband (our special contouring side darts give you an extra-curvy look) or a simple straight waistband. Hey Nancy Drews! You're always way to good at guessing what the next pattern is so I'm keeping it vague this time. This beautiful lady was part of the inspiration for tomorrow's pattern, and it's not what you think it is so don't even try to get me to spill the beans! I am a fortress of restraint and will not give away any secrets. I swear. Don't try me! I am beyond excited to show it to you but you'll just have to wait until tomorrow morning.
Also, this is your last warning that ...

Hi scouts! I mentioned this in the Crowdcast last week, but I felt it deserved a post of its own. As we've continued to release more and more content, I know the Patreon feed feels a little hard to navigate. That's why we've come up with an easy way for you to find the pattern and video content you're looking for in an instant.
We have a brand new Patreon page on my website (that's a screenshot of it above!). Go to t...

Rise and shine, campers! It's a new day at Camp Gertie and after the flurry of activity yesterday, we're ready to settle in here at the glampsite. A few thoughts and announcements:
- Thought for the day: our second Charm Scout Law is "A Charm Scout strives for diversity and inclusion in every aspect of life." How does that apply to your life? What can we do to make Camp Gertie more inclusive and welcoming to you? We want everyone to feel safe and happ...

Like any good scouting organization, the Charm Scouts have a motto, a pledge, and a set of laws. While this may seem a little silly, I love the ideas behind it. I spent some time researching and reading old scouting guides to come up with the Charm Scout "handbook." But you really only need to watch Troop Beverly Hills to see the benefits of having a code of conduct that shapes the way we interact with each other (especially online). Be kind, be fabulous, and above all: Feel the Fantasy! ...

Meet the Charm Scout Capelet! I’m so excited to be showing you how to make this official troop uniform. (Of course, we’ll need to come up with more uniform ideas as the year goes on. A Charm Scout needs options!)
Check out the pattern and instructions in my separate post, and watch this video to see how the project comes together. I cover everything from supplies to piping to bagging a lining.

Welcome to Camp Gertie! We’re giving Patreon a fun new twist this year: you’re all officially Charm Scouts, so of course you need a snazzy uniform. I’m a huge fan of the ‘80s classic Troop Beverly Hills (Patreon movie club?) so I knew we would need to do something as fabulous as Phyllis Neffler’s amazing troop leader cape. So the idea for the Charm Scout capelet was born: a cute little vintage-inspired number that has versatility written all over it. We’ve made it in blush double ...

Hey campers! Believe it or not, today is our one-year Patreon anniversary. We’ve had the time of our lives bringing you fab new projects and videos every month, and getting to know you through live streams and virtual sewing circles.
To keep things fresh, we’re introducing a whole new theme for our second year. This space has now been transformed into Camp Gertie, and we’ve gotten a Troop Beverly Hills-style makeover. But don't worry, we're still going to be releasing the mo...

I take you through all the major steps of constructing the coat, so make sure to watch this video especially if this is your first outerwear project. Meet the Swing Coat! Inspired by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, this snuggly topper is just the thing to round out your wardrobe. I love the bell-shaped sleeves and chunky cuffs paired with the swingy shape; it just feels so dramatically luxorious to wear! The funnel-shaped neckline makes this project quick and easy to sew, so the coat comes together in a jiffy. Make it full length with in-seam pockets (extra points for making a dress to match your lining like I did with this Stanwyck Dress) or h...

This is probably the biggest project we've offered here to date on Patreon. As I mentioned in last week's Crowdcast, in a non-pandemic year, this certainly would have been a Charm Patterns design because of its scope and ambition. One of the reasons I l...

Along with the tutorial video, this project is your entree into high-end lingerie sewing techniques. I'm thrilled to bring you a half slip pattern that will become a staple in your lingerie wardrobe! Vintage dresses were hardly ever lined because women owned lovely silk slips, which would save time, money, and fabric (instead of spending the time and fabric budget to line every skirt and dress they made). Slips also deserve a place in the conversation about sustainable sewing: They are a beautiful eco-friendly alternative to buying lining fabric for every project you sew. (For dresses like t...
