Be a Dragon: Experimentation (ch.5)

The first thing that Hinata felt when she woke up was shame and disappointment. Her eyes felt dry from her crying, her head was full of fog and it felt like a tailed beast was sitting on her chest -- for the first time in a long time, she had cried herself to sleep. Hinata thought she had left those days behind her when she was a child.

Slowly, Hinata opened her eyes, feeling emotionally exhausted, and took in her surroundings. None of it had been a dream, unfortunately. She was s...

Be a Dragon: Spiteful Mistakes (ch.4)

You know what? Maybe this was a bad idea, I realized, watching the six villains carve a line through the parking lot, flipping over cars, tossing them around like they didn't way several tons. Civilians ran away screaming, some of them were in the cars that got tossed around and my stomach clenched when the cars landed with a horrifying crash.

There were six of them and one of me. I had the power of the darkness, but, at the same time, jumping to murder for a car that...

Going Native: Interlude #2 (ch.27)

I awoke in a healing pod like so many times before, only this time it wasn’t easing out of my mind, caught between consciousness and sleep, waiting for someone else to tip the balance to the former. I awoke with a jolt, my eyes snapping, a hand going to the mask on my face, then to my side, feeling flesh underneath my fingers. I was naked. In a healing pod? That...that was good, right?

Wanting to find out, I hit the draining button, getting out -- it was impossible to tell how long I...

Going Native: Smell of Freedom (ch.26)

The Champion scarab was on top of me almost as soon as Fasha caught the scouter. Flipping around, I dodged a missile and with the same action, I slashed at another. These weren't the black holes ones, I realized when I felt my eyebrows singe when I was blasted in the face with what felt like the intensity of a sun. The explosion claimed a part of the ruined space elevator, the heat so intense that parts of it began to melt.

Through the fire, the Champion flew at me, one arm twiste...

Power Corrupts: Small Setbacks (ch.24)

Ryuu, for all of her willingness to teach, wasn't much of a teacher. That much was very clear when the tip of her sword buried itself into my gut, hardened muscle offering no defense and it was only by her restraint that I merely had the breath knocked from my lungs rather than be ran through. I skid back from the blow, leaving behind a trail of upturned dirt where my feet dug in to rain standing. As soon as I came to a stop, I dropped to a knee involuntarily, clutching my stomach -- the only...

Zanis knew better than to try to argue with a pissed off god and made a hasty retreat, practically fleeing the establishment as if Hestia was the devil herself. Given that I had never seen her like this -- the absolute fury etched onto her face as she marched out of the Hostess, bombarding every sense with her godly presence until bystanders were left gaping...Maybe he wasn’t wrong. Because Hestia was marching to the Soma familia’s house, her fists clenched so hard that they trembled at h...

“What-” Eina started, dark bags underneath her eyes as she walked out of the backroom the same moment that I walked out of the Dungeon. Ryuu was already outside, not wanting us to be seen together with the feeble excuse of tempting the Soma familia to take enough rope so we could hang them with it. In Eina’s hands were stacks of paper, files upon files, and I could guess their contents. She really was giving it her best shot, wasn’t she?

I offered her a lopsided smile, “I can...

Be a Dragon: Chance Meetings (ch.3)

The harsh contrast between her last memory and her current comfort was enough that it broke through the sea of fog that was sleep. Her training told her to slowly observe her surroundings with her hearing first to not alert potential captors, but Hinata couldn't bring herself to. Not when her last memory was confessing her love to Naruto-kun then… a hand went to her chest, only to feel smooth skin. The wound was gone. As were her clothes, including her underwear.

Time stretched to impossible lengths, my refusal seeming to echo through the air over the hump of hundreds of plasma weapons. I should have spent that second thinking of a plan of attack, or how I was going to deal with this mess. I should have used it to figure out how to leverage what I did have or think of a way to buy myself more time so I could use it to think of a plan. Instead, that long second that felt like it stretched on for hours was filled with absolute silence as I simply waited...

Monthly Prompt #3

This prompt feels a bit Tarble wanky, but it makes sense in context.

...

Prince Tarble the First moved like a man that expected the universe to give way to him...and, if a fraction that Komand'r learned about the Saiyan prince was true, then more often than not, the universe did. In truth, he was more impressive in person than he was in the holovids, Komand'r thought, her gaze washing over the prince.

His gaze was obscured by a blood-red visor, but what she could see o...

This was such a bad idea, I thought, jumping off the rock when I reached the end of it. I could hear the dragon slowly moving to meet me halfway, each step it took sent vibrations running through me. I didn't even want to think about how much that thing would weigh. I didn't even want to think about how big it was. The only thing going through my mind was how I was going to kill the dragon.

Be a Dragon: Benevolent Sugar Mamas (ch.2)

My internal clock was so powerful that it could be considered a force of nature. Between college, work and a flagging social life, my body learned to adapt to no sleep, hangovers and worse, and I could still wake up at five in the morning. My eyes cracked open, feeling the presence of someone else curled to me, their head resting on my still asleep arm. For a moment, I thought I had managed to sleep in for once, only to realize that it was still night time with a glance at an alarm clock rest...

I suppose, to him, it was.

I returned to the Hostess of Fertility in a daze, my feet carrying me there as my mind replayed that conversation, wondering what I could have done differently. Should I have argued? Was there a point? From how she sounded, it seemed that Loki never had any intention of helping me and I doubt I could have said anything to change her mind. I guess I seriously misjudged her.

What really struck me was going back on the promise of training me. Getting my butt whipped by Ais and Tiona ...

Be a Dragon: Being a Dragon (ch.1)

There was a meme about being yourself unless you could be a dragon. I never gave it much thought beyond the occasional chuckle but that was about it. Now, however, looking down at my fuck off massive body covered in scales that were as black as midnight with the ones on my stomach holding a reddish hue to them, I suddenly found myself thinking about that meme in a much more literal light.

I swiveled my massive head large enough to swallow a minivan in a single bite, my elongated s...
