“I won,” Rumi announced, barging into my office and making the house of cards I was building fall over. I pursed my lips, looking down at the cards with some annoyance before I cocked an eyebrow in Rumi's direction just in time for her to throw a packet of papers at my face. She was only a little disappointed that I caught them with my hands rather than my face.
I knew what the packet of papers contained. I had a similar packet on my desk. Creating a small Room with a thought, I sa...

“Tell me your journey, Siegfried. I want to hear all of it,” Mother requested in a tone that felt more like an order. There was a point in time when I would have hated that tone as a child, as it usually meant my brothers had offloaded their chores onto me, but now it was a balm to my spirit. My family was seated together as we finally got a moment to reunite in the early morning the day after our arrival.
Words couldn't describe how good it felt to see my family all under one roof...

As soon as everyone had sobered up from the wedding, we set sail for Norway. At the port, everyone said their farewells. Hoffer embraced his sister, knowing that this would likely be the last time they saw each other. The same was true for many others—those who chose to stay behind said their farewells to the friends who would be returning with us.
Many tears were shed on both sides, but underneath the sorrow was a hunger to begin the next adventure. And, with heavy hearts and filled...

Hadi sat on a cushion, looking out at the festivities as they awaited the groom, as well as his bride in this unique case. Everyone worth mentioning in the Caliphate had squeezed themselves into the royal palace for the wedding, and Hadi could almost see the division between the people from his place of honor.
It was expected. Caliph Harun would have to be blind, deaf, and dumb to not see the potential division that the marriage between his sister and Siegfried, a pagan, would cause. T...

It was difficult to pinpoint exactly when it happened, but the people attending the meeting in Rome seemed to realize all at once what they were trying to accomplish. That it wasn't some vague idea or a lofty goal that would fall apart the moment they took their eyes off if it. They realized that what they were doing was real, that the reformation of the Roman Empire was possible, and it was up to them to make it happen.
As an outsider looking in, it was rather fascinating to witness. ...

“Rude?! What the- what did you just do?!” Jill shouted at me as I took a breath, keeping an eye on Carlos. He was mean mugging me pretty hard, but he wasn't taking the shot. Probably because he was surrounded by people he knew would be willing to pull on him if he did. If we were alone, I imagine that would change. But we weren't and that was to my advantage, even if it did have me committing murder in front of some cops.
Damn. I probably should have been nicer to the president. I ...

Nobility could only be maintained for brief amounts of time, Rhaegar witnessed as the festivities continued as he was seated in a place of honor. Music filled the banquet hall, people danced on the floor while others continued to gorge themselves on the seemingly never ending courses. On the very first day of the celebrations, the nobles maintained that aristocratic dignity.
However, it wasn't something that was easy to maintain. Not for most, at least. It was like clenching your fists...

Jill felt the exact moment that Rude took command of the situation, even before she learned that he somehow put himself in charge over at HQ. The situation in the long hours they were in the depths below the city… it was sliding the wrong way. It wasn't as bad as it could be, it wasn't total anarchy, but it was slowly heading that way. The evidence of it was everywhere -- the conflicting orders, the overstretched front line, the chaotic evacuations, and the gaps in their defenses.

Whoever said that Cyvasse had ballocks for brains and not an ounce of good sense, Robert Baratheon decided as he sat at a board with the pieces arranged mid battle with a graveyard filled with pieces on both sides. Even as a tool to teach tactics, it was middling at best. He wasn't sure why people were so obsessed with the game, enough so that it got its own contest at the tourney.
As Robert moved a pawn forward, setting it in motion without much thought, he knew it was the kind of gam...

Annie knew at some point she had lost her way.
It wasn't even when Cinder managed to make the worst day of her life even worse by blackmailing her with a video of her sexual assault. It was some point after that. At some point in the years of hell that followed, she gave up. After the world ended, the blackmail didn't mean anything, yet she had still gone along with everything that Cinder demanded. Yet, it hadn't been then either.
No… no, Annie suspected that she gave up much ...

The completion of the fusion reactor opened doors for me. One almost literal door in particular. For a year now, we could only manage a trip though the Dias once every two months at most. Sometimes we skipped an opening just to preserve the power on the off chance that we needed it. My trips through it when we did open it were rather infrequent as well, in all honesty. I mostly just used it to pick out pieces of tech, get some updates from Taylor, maybe harvest some knowledge from specialists...

If I had to describe the meeting of two of the most powerful monarchs in midgard in a single word, then my word of voice would be… tense. Or perhaps uncomfortable. If, however, I was allowed two words, then they would be painfully awkward. The ancient senate building was filled with a tension that I could only liken to the feeling of knowing your parents were fighting, and you were wary of even breathing too loudly, fearful it might set them off.

After getting a moment to breathe, I made my choices for Level 10. It was an important milestone level for my class -- Magic Item Adept had the potential to be a real game changer for me. “I… am known as Singed,” the man introduced himself as I was walked into his lab, escorted by Jinx. It was a real and right proper secret lab too -- it was located in the fringe of the city, in the fissures that were mined out centuries ago before Piltover started digging down and laid the foundations for what would become the Undercity. There was a complete network of caves that had been co-opted for various inhuman experiments.
The man himself had a real evil scientist vibe to ...

I had hoped that things would be simple with my departure, but that wasn't the case. The Roman came and went, delivering Irene's message -- a invitation to attend her in Constantinople. An invitation that I couldn't refuse without consequence.
It was tempting to simply ignore the summons. Extremely so. The only thing that held me back from ignoring the summons, and Irene, was one simple thing. An instruction to bring no less than five hundred of my greatest warriors with me to Constant...
