Been meaning to do this for a while, but I've been needing to learn how to actually draw dicks. Colors, shape, details all that kind of stuff. It might seem excessive, but I'm an excessive person! So wish me luck and enjoy the dicks!

Ideation- Figuring out the form and the mood each one gives and how it serves the needs of the commissioner which we talked out beforehand.
Mood Board- Compiling a collection of images that I will use to inspire the impression that I want the final product to give. As this is simple composition, I'm only using a few images.
Form- the form needs to be a bit more precise than I would otherwise go for. Identifiable features typically are more recognizable when they're in the correct propor...

I technically classified this under pinups!
Gilian is an old friend from way back at my first years in the furry fandom! Look for this badge at Anthrocon! You'll find this beautiful boy!

Really more of an interactogram right? But it's like... a spiritual smooch!

Part 1: Collecting ideas
Part 2: Sketch: Acquire form, body language, shape expression
Part 3: Colors First pass: Really just trying to keep things in a certain gamut and value range
Part 4: Colors Second Pass: Pushing values and colors even further to capture the quiet contemplative emotion I'm going for.

Decided to bite the bullet and make a painted pngtuber. Honestly, it wasn't as work intensive as I thought it would be! You'll be able to see this on Tremorthewolf's channel very soon!

More headshots! I'm learning quite a bit from these. The value of repetition is that it helps make new things more recognizable and easier to learn! Now it's all about it just doing it over and over again! Here we go!

A painted smoochagram for Leuphe and Chapu! Two people I'm lucky to call friends! They wanted a picture of themselves all big and monstrous but also dad-like, and also loving! And we all know that flannel plaid is the daddliest of all the topwear. Chapu was bereft of a shirt though, so Leuphe had to let him borrow one of his identical shirts!

Step 1- Collecting information and chat with commissioner. Uncover details, what they desire for the commission, how they feel about the smooch receiver, what their character means to them, and specific details the commissioner wants to be included, then come up with a pose that reflects those wants and adds in a few of my own desires for the art!
Step 2- Collect references! In order to keep things consistent it's best to have consistent inspirations and really only change up the speci...

I'm starting to get more into the groove of doing these and as a result I'm much happier with the result. Having taken the time to slow down and consider my brushstrokes is giving way to being more intuitive. The problem I see though with giving into intuition is that it relies on what you already know, so in what way can that be called a study?
Don't get me wrong, me being happier and more confident is not nothing. It's a rare comodity I and other artists SHOULD indulge in more and if...

Thank you Bam for the title!
Standards set by commissioner- check
Interesting shapes- needs work
Implied flow of brushstrokes- needs work
Composition- check
Impact- check
Step 2- Uuughhh the struggle. I'm going to start without colors instead I think. I still need that step to figure out where all the values will go
Step 3- Decided to work more on the muscles as this is supposed to be a pinup. I am... OKAYtm with the background but I'll be focusing more on it ...

Ding dang, man. The level of fidelity in touch. That's really I think what makes a smoochagram work. The nuance and flourishes in touch. As a digital painter, I know I can get SO much nuance and flavor in touch, down and honestly I would be happy as an artist to keep them either here or how you saw them in part 4. This is exactly the quality I want to display in my work! While I like the sketches for the small pieces they were and I love how they function as a body of work, I wouldn't be able...

In for a penny in for a pound, right? One of my bigger problems with my early styles artistically speaking was it could sometimes be hard to tell who was in them. I was only using their primary color and that only gets you so far in communicating the idea of someone's character! I even started putting borders around them to make these commissions self contained transparent bg illustrations! I called them "exit plans" and you best believe they took TIME to create! But these colors I can't poss...

The next upgrade! I got pretty deep into selling textures and details here. I was even inspired by Wolfskulljack (twitter) to start inking! Sadly I don't much like inking I think? I can do it and it REALLY takes these to the next level when I do it, but it's a LOT of work, which I'm not opposed to but I was running into a problem. I wanted these to remain something small that anyone could buy, but with all the work I was doing, I couldn't justify their price staying as low as it was. I was st...

The second style I adopted for these! It was quite an upgrade and they came with a price increase and I was really concerned with coming up with unique poses! I didn't want to use the same pose! Of course with all of these being around built around a theme there were only so many poses I have at my disposal while still remaining honest to what the commissioner wanted! It took me a while, to figure it out, but the displaying the honest feelings is more important than displaying something uniqu...

This is the first style of smoochagrams I started with. The idea started small and grew bigger and bigger over time. Maybe a bit unweidly so, but I won't argue with the results! I hope you enjoy them all!

The first of these studies! I think I was happiest with the shapes and textures in this! Looking back at it, I think using a multiply layer for the shading values might be the easiest way to get across shadow shapes in the fewest brush strokes, however this will sacrifice the colors.
Qualities of multiply:
+ Better shapes
+ Fewer brushstrokes
- Worse colors
-- Learn less about brush placement

What is this?
A study? A commission type? Mmmhh... 60% column A, 40% column B. The idea hit me as something that I could use as smaller work that could help me practice numerous things: Brush economy, edge control, shape information and expression, in a controlled environment. Don't worry if you don't know what those are. All terms in italics will be explained in what I think are simple terms at the end, along with little explanations along the w...
