Making the Most of Being Landlocked [Ep.250]

Join us for our last few days of living a domesticated life, before we get confirmation that we can SET SAIL!! In this episode, we make the most of our time left in our beautiful villa before moving back onboard. All of the open space and fresh air has done wonders for us, Lenny in particular. He has been in his element, wandering endlessly, likely searching for the beach (his favourite place by far). The sea has been calling us like never before.. 🌊⛵️🌊

Hope you enjoyed our la...

Ditching our Boat for THIS! Our European Romance Novel Villa #249

We were very fortunate to receive an offer from a fan to get a break from the marina for 10 days to their vacant airbnb. This place reminded me of a Romance Novel, "a house of artists", it was the perfect getaway to inspire some new creative thinking.

Congratulations to Lain Payner who is our 3rd longest supporting patron. Hope to catch up with you soon. We've been reading all the comments over the last 7 days in last we...

BOAT LIFE: Taking Quarantine Seriously.. lol

Whilst La Vagabonde is still locked into the marina, we try exploring a few destinations by car. Andre takes quarantine precautions to a whole new level - see it to believe it haha!

If you've seen our last few videos, you would have heard us talking about our small meet up in the Azores when it's safe and permitted to do so.

For this next fortnight, we have a new competition and the audience will decide the winner for one person and their partner to attend our meet up.

A Summer Onboard, Eating from the Ocean!

Whilst we had the extra time stuck in Lagos we had the opportunity to reflect on some of our favourites times in the Bahamas. You may have heard Riley mention of TPS (The Perfect Spot). He wrote an article a while back called 'TPS Report'. Check it out if you're interested. The Bahamas might not be TPS but it ticks plenty of boxes. If you were to name your 'TPS', what would the criteria be for you? Let us know...

Going Crazy in ISOLATION [#247]

Don't get me wrong, we have lived life in isolation before. But having to stay on your boat and not be able to leave for an unknown amount of time is a new experience. I'm sure you can all relate to the craziness created from staying at home. We got a bit silly in this one - hope it brings you a smile. I'm sure you can guess who's idea this thumbnail was...

Congratulations to Joshua Thompson, another of our longest supporting crew members from 2015 when this crazy journey began. Hope to...

BOAT LIFE: A New Beginning! Ep.246

A new beginning! We've moved back onboard and we're nearly ready to set sail. Well, at least that's what we thought before things went crazy with COVID19.. We have a heap of jobs in and around the boat to start fresh for a new season of sailing, which we're so excited for. ⛵️⚓️ Join us for some salty adventures in beautiful Lagos!

Congrats to Erika Swinburne! Erika is one our top 5 longest term patrons, supporting us on Patreon since 2015. Thanks Erika! Hopefully we can ma...

Our Scary Experience With Lenny Ep. 245

The scariest few weeks of my life so far. Lenny experiences anaphylactic shock from eating peanuts. I'm so glad we found out he had allergies while we were on land. More info in the video. Happy to say Lenny is back to his cheeky happy self and we've got our Epipen for future adventures.

25 hour transit flights can be tough with a baby so we tried something different and stopped over in Dubai (which is kinda the halfway mark). We met up with Humaid which you might remember from this epi...

Sea Shanty Update...

Firstly, to those who have sent through their videos over the last month - Thank you so much! We love seeing your faces and some of the creativity that has come through has been very entertaining. 13 videos in total which has included anything from talented solo guitar pieces, car karaoke, pirate costumes, family band, use of green screens and numerous other props. It's been awesome to see!

Racing in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race (Ep 244)

I've always had a keen interest in the Sydney to Hobart Race. It's considered to be one of the great sailing events around the world. It came about talking to a friend of a family members friend who was crewing on DareDevil. After a number of conversations back and forth and figuring out the requirements, we were able to make it happen thanks to the skipper Sibby, one of the few female skippers in the race.

We sail 600nm from start to finish over 3 days.  What an experience.

Live Stream FAIL

Hey guys, so sorry we've had a couple of go's at doing this live stream but the connection isn't steady enough. We packed up and tried to move spots, but it's not better. We're thinking we will pre record the video with your questions and upload ASAP maybe 1-2 hours. We are out in the Algarve country side and the internet is not to flash.

SO BUMMED, but we do have some really good news for you.

We will announce in the video!! In the meantime, please get all of your questions in...

Sailors, Living off the Land in TROPICAL PARADISE! (PART 1)

As you might know, we spent a heap of time sailing and living off the land in the Bahamas. We've been digging into our archives lately, during lock down. We really wanted to do a 'best of' show reel, mostly showing our attempts of self sufficiency. We were new to using a polespear, the traditional Bahamian primitive method of spear fishing, and Elayna was experiencing what it meant to be pregnant for the first time! Feeling very nostalgic looking through this old footage.. 🌴🐟 Hope you e...

We'll update you on what we've been up to and what the horizon looks like for us but if you have any other topics for conversation, throw them below and remember to 'heart' the ones you are interested in so we can get to those first.

Storing La Vagabonde For The Winter Ep. 243

Join us on board La Vagabonde for our final leg of our sail down to Lagos with our patron Andre, to meet the crew at the Sopromar Boat Yard. After our last minute dash across The Atlantic, we needed somewhere to store La Vagabonde for the winter and Hugo from Sopromar was kind enough to offer assistance.

We've called it "The End of a Chapter" as it really has been. What a crazy sailing season from Lenny jumping o...

Sailing Out of Lisbon (Ep.242)

Welcome back to Europe! Join us on board for a pleasant sail from Lisbon to Sines. Meet Andre, a patron we met during our time in Lisbon. We were lucky to have him onboard helping us sail south on our way towards Lagos. Having a natural sailor who knew the local area and spoke the language made things infinitely easier.

Grab a drink and enjoy the episode. Thanks for making it possible.

"Never Eat Soggy Wheatbix" The Australian way to Navigate (Ep.241)

Join us for our last sail in the USA. We actually both come to the realization that we still use "Never Eat Soggy Wheetbix" to remember North East South West. I'm sure there's a heap of variations that you were taught at school?

It was when filming this video, we received confirmation we were crossing The Atlantic with Greta. If you haven't already seen our Atlantic Crossing Series, you can check them all out 2020-04-12 09:44:18 +0000 UTC View Post

Only one more episode of USA before we jump across to Portugal. Thank you to everyone we met in USA for making our trip so enjoyable. We had an absolute blast and hope to return one day.

Discovering Towns by Boat! This is Annapolis. Ep. 239

Join us for a sail to Annapolis and explore what the great sailing town has to offer. After attending the Annapolis Boat Show in October, we had a list of recommendations that went for miles. These are just some of the ones we picked out. In just a few days we managed to really squeeze in a heap.

We've recently been told that the Spring Boat Show has been cancelled which is a shame but very much expected in the current climate. Hope you're all keeping well.

BOAT LIFE: Day to day Living & Working! Ep. 238

Join us and Riley's friend David as we continue to sail the Chesapeake. David would constantly remind us on the way and during our time in St Michaels that this was where his favourite movie 'Wedding Crashers" was filmed. He was very excited. This was a really fun relaxing trip and it was great to have a friend on board that could help us out with Lenny. That extra person can be priceless at times.

Hope you enjoy the video and it takes your mind of the current challenging times.  View Post

Secrets we kept from Elayna during the Atlantic

After a good nights sleep in a nice warm bed, we were keen to get back to La Vagabonde to reminisce the biggest sail of our lives so far. One of the biggest challenges out on the water is the decisions you have to make, each one, the potential to have major consequences. Many of these, I kept from Elayna...until now.  Thanks to Nikki Henderson for being incredible. She is as good as they get and couldn't have done the journey without her help. Be sure to check her out on her social netwo...
