A rather fun request by one of my newer Archdukes. The girls of Frozen, drawn up in a style similar to a comic about the Disney Princesses that I will never finish or acknowledge again. I am very happy with this one. I think I nailed their personalities and the coloring came out very balanced. I keep experimenting with new ways of adding color, but on his one I went back to the way I use to do it, and I think it turned out alright.

Another patrons oc. Ever since Zatoichi the concept of a blind swordsman has really appealed to me. In the last Zatoichi movie (which was meh) they reveal that Zato is not actually blind at all, but that he just leads people to assume he is blind. Dante is also not actually blind, but his milky white eyes and cane sword lead people to that fatal assumption.

In Tolkien's works orcs and goblins were pretty much the same thing though, but I thing most people go with the WOW/Warhammer/MagicTG theory that they are different.

I like drawing elves. You might be thinking, "But Mark, isn't drawing an elf just like drawing any other human, but with point ears?" Yes, voice in my head, you are right, and drawing dwarves is just like drawing any other human but with a big beard and vertical limitations, and orcs are just humans with green skin and tusks. In fact, when you think about it, drawing an elf is just like drawing an elephant, except without the tusks, big ears, tail, and quadruped body. Shut up!

So this is the last pic I did entirely in CS4. Everything after this is going to at least be partly done in CS6, not that I think anyone will notice any differences at first. I still plan on using all the same techniques and functions as before, but I've already noticed that CS6 is moving WAY faster, which at least means I'll be able to tolerate doing more in less time. We'll see.

This one was a blast to draw, and its a concept I've wanted to do for a while, recasting Mark and the gang in modern time. Notice that it says Academy and Not High School. All of the character are 18+, and anyone who says differently is an ISIS sleeper-cell agent. I am goning to post this to HF as well later tonight or tomorrow. Basically, every month I'm going to be putting the names of every Knight and Count into a random number generator thing (there are lots of these online) and I'll offer the winner a free basic commission. One of my Dukes asked me to draw my own version of a Red Sonja type character, and it ended up being a lot of fun. I think Bikini-armor stuff is my absolute favorite thing to draw. It takes me back to the Frank Frazetta books I used to hide under my bed as a kid.
