Hello everybody,
We're nearing the end of the month, so I'd like to inform you what's currently going on with the next video. Unlike last month, where I essentially sat the entity of it without so much as a word written, I'm 15 pages in at the moment, that's about relatively halfway based on prior experience.
What's made this video in particular so challenging? Honestly, I'm not sure its the project itself but the timing. It's likely I'll be making this video in Adobe Premiere, be...

Rian Johnson.
I wouldn't have predicted years ago watching Breaking Bad's "Fly" or Looper, that the man would become such a polarizing figure in Hollywood, and not because of those movies but one in particular.
I was pleased then when watching this movie that none of that discussion, controversy, or history, really seem to impact this film from being easily the best of Rian's work (haven't seen Brick yet). It's funny, fast-paced, and compelling but not in mystery, rather, just the...

Remember MSN Messenger?
When logging off of Xbox Live for the day, there's a group of people I'd interact with on MSN, talking about Linkin Park's A Thousand Suns, how dead Myspace was, and all with the curses and slurs I won't repeat here. It was a different time back then. I've got memories of crappy webcams reacting to plays made on Uno.
Though the program certainly had its issues, one of the most obvious stemming from my friends account, who would say something to the effect o...

Most underrated game of all time and why?
There's plenty I'd consider underrated. Halo 4, GRID 2, NFS: The Run, Mass Effect 3, etc. I don't think it's a coincidence most are sequels. Traditionally, the disliking of these games is written as "they suck, worst I've ever played" when what they often mean is "I don't like this compared to what came before" which is understandable, but not something I traditionally align with. I go into seq...

Sometimes I'm taken aback by what I haven't already recommend on these posts. Its entirely possible that I merely overlooked it, but I couldn't find one article listing this album that's been with me since childhood. Ever since hearing "Gravastar" on F1 Career Challenge...
Hybrid continue today, and I've even recommended previous works of theirs like the superb Driveclub OST, but Morning Sci-Fi is the one I keep coming back to because of tracks like "Know Your Enemy", "Marrakech", and "...

"Why do you love Black Lagoon so much?"
One question asked in the midst of a vast conversation about a variety of topics over the course of hours, was enough for me to wrap an entire conclusion around in a video.
Years ago, I made a video exploring the combat dialogue in Multiplayer because of a Youtube comment. I asked myself about Immersion because of a couple matches on Gears of War. King Kong was explored after Sparky bugged me on Discord. Even these last few days, my imaginat...

What's your favorite shotgun in a game and why?
Halo 4's a top contender. It's visually muted but in-terms of sound-design? It's like the thing's firing sledgehammers rather than pellets. There's so many shotguns to choose however, it's hard to select a definitive #1, or even remember all of them. Max Payne 3's are quite underrated, likely because the late game makes them harder to use against fully armored enemies, but goddamn is a th...

I sort of feel for edgy Comedians. They'll always have people following them for the edge, and not necessarily the point. Jim Jefferies rather encapsulates this. Previously starting shows with a full pint in hand mocking Lesbians and spewing the word cunt, to being married and hosting a late-night show, you're bound to have people complain you've gone soft.
What's enjoyable about Jim's new special, is that it doesn't feel soft, but it also doesn't feel like he's just dusted off an old c...

So I've Finally Played Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown...
Hadn't played any flight game since childhood, that amounted to crashing in Microsoft Flight Simulator for about five minutes total. It might not have even been Microsoft Flight Simulator, that's how long ago the memory was. I'd never even played an Ace Combat game. Well, I did play Assault Horizon, but understand that doesn't count. I...

What are some games that are on your bucket list that are REALLY hard to obtain but still hope to play one day?
TIMESPLITTERS.
God damn, I really wish I had Xbox Live when Future Perfect had its servers up and running. Aside from that however, most games on my "bucket list" are things to own rather than just play. Things like Steel Battalion and its controller.
Japan is on every nerds bucket list though, and especially ...

Gameloft might just be the most derivative, repetitive, and unoriginal developer in existence. Constantly throwing out shameless mobile cash-grabs to market with all the energy of a dead dog. Hardly surprising its founded by the brother of Ubisoft's CEO.
But just like Ubisoft, every once and in a while, this seemingly lifeless company can make something reinvigorating, exciting, and fun! And Asphalt 9 is one such case. Prop your phone onto a controller, or download on Switch, and you've...

It's common place in gaming circles to talk about sports fans like another race of human, entirely locked off from the rest of people who enjoy playing games, and it's not hard to see why. I bet the only soccer game a good chunk of Steam users have is Rocket League, which is odd because mainstream sports games like NBA2k & FIFA sell millions of copies yearly.
Just from the surface it makes ...

Building on my last question, you said you don't play roguelikes for very long. Why is that and what would/does it take for one to get you invested?
I imagine the reason I don't get into Roguelikes for one is that the opening stages become a blur, as the design of Roguelikes forces them to be easy, and typically repeat the visuals. The joy of the genre is discovery, so when the first ten minutes are virtually guaranteed to stop surpris...

It really hit me recently how much the BBC loves M83. Something as simple as an F1 Season Review uses everything from the Oblivion OST (Tom Cruise Movie, not Elder Scrolls), or Before The Dawn Heals Us. However, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming is the album that caught me by surprise.
Nothing's quite pulled me out of a depressed mood like this Album has in a long time. Normally, I'm not one for glossy pop but what I think separates M83 is that its uplifting moments have proper buildup. There's ...

Speaking of space sims, what's your take on Star Citizen?
Game of everybody's dreams IF it becomes reality.
As for Planetside 2, that update looks pretty nice! Haven't played seriously in quite sometime, though I hold fond memories of epic battles on that game. Definitely appealed to more of my personal taste than the usual MMO.

I couldn't for the life of me see the appeal in this show initially. Treating it like any other, where you launch the pilot and tour through the first season, all I witnessed was Yoda giving basic military advice that made Clone Troopers bow their heads in astonishment.
Thing is, Clone Wars isn't a standard show. You don't need to watch the first episode. Hell, you don't even need to watch most of the first season. This is a show made up of episodes and arcs, and as such, you don't need...

Hello Everybody,
It's cliche to say, but I hope all of you have been doing well these past few weeks, days that I imagine will be talked about for some time to come. On my end however, this month has been hysterically unproductive.
Last year, I paused 5-6 months of Patreon donations due to not releasing videos. With the benefit of hindsight, I'm able to say despite good intentions, it was silly to refuse people's donations when I was working around the clock. However, that is what...

From the moment Star Wars Squadrons was announced, the vibe I saw from friends and comments was "don't give me hope," and it's easy to understand why. EA's list of Star Wars games since their dealings with Disney haven't been extensive. There was Battlefront! Then Battlefront II! Jedi Fallen Order and... that's it.

What's your least favorite genre or genres of games and what would it take for you to enjoy them?
Definitely MMO's. Even in my younger days with loads more free time, I couldn't get into the heavy grind of games like World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, or Everquest. That's not to say I don't like the idea of an MMO. I love reading stories of epic battles on EVE, interactions on Star Wars Galaxies, or coordinated attacks in Guild Wars, but t...

Run the Jewels 2 holds up as one of the best albums out there. It's one that consistently floors most I show it to, whether they're into hip-hop or not. While RTJ4 doesn't quite reach the highs of that album, at least on a first listen, it packs a mean punch. Especially the opening and ending.
It's as much a banger as it is politically charged, with countless listeners believing lyrics were written in the last week, when they actually were completed last year.

What is your stance on takedown animations? Some people, like Yahtzee, don't like them for supposedly ruining the flow of gameplay. Personally, I live for this shit, just the sight of those John Wick-style moves was enough to get excited about Watch Dogs Legion more than anything else.
I'm rather mixed on them. ID's DOOM games managed to incorporate them well, and I think it's because they're built into the game's flow. DOOM uses those very b...

Sometimes a game isn't the issue, but instead, the person playing it. That was very much the case with me upon first playing this hotly anticipated reboot of a beloved franchise. Upon hearing many people's disappointment, I went in with my hopes still high, and came away dejected from the game's physics, content, and lack of advancement.
However, I bought it on-sale and have already clocked in 10 hours. It didn't take me long to realize what was wrong with my previous approach. I went i...

I've not been following The Last of Us Part 2. Originally, it stemmed from enjoying the original game but not standing on it's powerful hype-train. Now, it stems from not wanting to have a decent chunk of the game spoiled. Though, when a big publisher does its job, escaping the game's presence completely is almost impossible.
And Sony have most certainly done that. I've seen various tweets posted about the game's release, features, and themes. The problem is that the marketers aren't in...

For years I've pondered over a sci-fi where a decaying Earth sends three shuttles from the world's three superpowers to a fictional planet nearby. I've made a habit over the years of diving head first into the discography of artists I only know from one song. In this case, it was Feed the Addiction in Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) that made me find the album that song featured on.
