So, kind of unrelated to Crimson Veil, I’m currently playing through Dragon Quest XI S on my Switch. Absolutely FANTASTIC game. I have a big grin on my face each time I play it. The game is just so charming and fun. Some of my design philosophy when creating maps and NPCs in CV is inspired by the older DQ games I’ve played in the past. How is everyone doing? I was checking the poll I recently posted, regarding the inclusion of commissioned enemy encounters by the community, and the vast majority of voters seem to be in favor of it being added! I’ll see if I can squeeze in one slot for this update. No promises though! :)

I just got an idea in my head and I thought I would ask if there would be anyone interested in this idea.
I'm thinking about in future updates (Not 2.3 as my art schedule is already full) adding in a slot or two for enemy design commissions to be added into the game. So the way it would work is, I would open up slot(s) for anyone to design a single enemy. Crimson Veil Version 2.2.1 is now available for everyone to download! As mentioned in the last update, this is the same version that was released early for my patrons with some bug fixes and an update to a previous illustration. The release of 2.2 is SUPER CLOSE!! The last piece of art is currently in the final stages of completion. I'm working on it as I am writing this and it is coming out great! I can't wait to hear what you all think! Game wise, writing and event scripting for the last quest is nearly done. I need to do a few run-throughs of the quest to see how it flows and make sure that there isn't anything game breaking. I've got the next two days off and I'll be working hard to have 2.2

I thought I was pretty close finishing the Blood Temple quest line, but it turned out there was quite a bit more I wanted to add in to make it feel complete. When writing scenes for two of the characters, I felt like I didn't create enough expressions for them and the scene felt awkward when play testing through it. The Nosferatu quest is now done! Although to say it's a "Nosferatu quest" is a bit misleading... I have decided to make the Nosferatu a new enemy type that can be encountered. Within the expanded Rotten Grove area, several Nosferatu enemies can found and defeated for gold as well as Vampire Dust. Nosferatu are resilient enemies and whip attacks do little to hurt them. This week, my focus was on building the new areas you will be exploring in 2.2. The primary area of expansion is The Rotten Grove, the forest in the eastern overworld. Before, it was a relatively small patch of woods that you could explore as part of a quest. Now, the forest has been largely expanded. Related to my 8/4/19 update, I asked the community if I should add in an area that has enemies that are much higher level than what is expected of a player at this point. The catch is that you would still be able to experience the various bad endings associated with being defeated by these enemies. So, should I add this once the players are ready to take on this challenge or should I start working on this area now to see these bad endings sooner?

The ground work for the next update has been laid out and I have started expanding the map for the Rotten Grove. I haven't yet decided at what level this new expanded area will be accessible yet. Been a pretty crazy week for me with lots of stuff to do. I've had a lot of life commitments I had to get done this week, which hasn't given me much time to work on the game. I've been think a lot about this upcoming user submitted contest that will be posted shortly. I've been planning in my head scenarios of how I would handle the art and the quests themselves.
