Sorry everyone, obviously I haven't managed to get a January upadte out, but I've also managed to miss the window for pausing January billing cycle. If anyone needs refunds, then I don't think I can do those until the billing cycle completes. Please send me a message if you want a refund.
David.

All, firstly I want to reassure you I am still working on the game, albeit intermittantly with my ongoing health issues. My intent was to finish the base magic system before the next release.
However, I'm now having to pivot my focus. Deep within the core of the game are largely unused mechanics that were inspired by the way OSR games work. With the ongoing upsetting dumpster fire surrounding the OGL (*) that allows OSR to exist I need to focus on excising anything that has an origin th...

All, I've been working on the magic system some more, wanting to get one of each type of spell done so I can prove to myself that what I have is sufficient. Unfortunately this has taken longer than expected, and there won't be a September release, so I've paused billing. All memberships will roll over to October without any additional charges.
Sorry,
David / Dingotush

Here's the game engine Javadoc and game XML format document (98 pages) for those of you at the experimenter tier and above. These two documents provide a good deal of information about the internals of the game, and are great if you want to mess about in debug mode (aka cheat mode).
The XML format document explains the contents of the XML files that define the game. If you were to open the lib/GameF.jar in an archiver like 7zip you will find these XML docum...

The intrepid adventurer can now learn to cast their first spell from the proprietor of the magic shop. With each use, the mastery of the spell increases so it drains less mana and mana refills faster. More spells are in the works, but much of the work on this release has been involved with getting this new system working.
The body modelling conversion to the new system is now completed too, which should not have changed anything (that was not already a bit broken). This will enable musc...

This version brings some long pending updates to the user interface. The quest pane now includes a description of the current quest goals. I've been trying to get this to work for several releases but it required a redesign to fix it.
The combat pane has also had a re-work and now displays a health meter for each combatant. It also adds filters and sort options. By default it does not show friendly (not hostile) creatures but these can be shown, and it will list hostile ones first. Norm...

This version includes a creature spawner that attempts to balance encounters against the player character by very approximately simulating how the conflict could play out. Please let me know if how you get on with this in case it needs further tuning. It should be survivable most of the time.
There's a notice board in Twizelford's town square with a new quest on it that uses the new system. The town hall is also open to a limited extent and there's a clerk for you to interact with shoul...

All,
There has been progress with the game as I'm gradually getting better, but I don't have a stable playable version to release this month. So once again I'm pausing billing. I'm really sorry for the ongoing delay, sadly there's not much I can do about it.

All,
I'm afraid that once again my ongoing health problems haven't allowed me to complete a release in April, and so things will roll over into May. The good news is I am improving enough to get some work done and continue to work on it intermittantly.
Thank you for your patience,
David/Dingotush

All, I'm sorry to have to do this again, but I really haven't been well enough to work on Yaffaif for most of this month, so I will be pausing billing again. This means your subscription will roll over into April, when I hope to be able to deliver something all being well.
Thank you for your patience.

Hi All,
Unfortunately a combination of bad health (complications from a new mediaction), and over-wishful planning (my bad) means I'm not going to meet my deadlines for a release in February.
I don't believe in taking donations when I know I can't deliver, so March's billing cycle is paused. What this means is that you won't be charged for Yaffaif on March 1st, and February's subscriptions will roll into March.
Sorry for the delay!

All, I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to get an update out this month so I've paused December's billing cycle. It's been a mixture of technical challenges as I needed to work on some of the core aspects of the code for forthcoming features and me being unwell (a mix of Crohn's and a rough time after a vaxination).
What this means is that pledges in/for November will roll over into December without any additional charge.

While I wasn't feeling so well and unable to work on the technical parts of Yaffaif the other month I started messing around with RenPy. Just wanted to see more of how it worked, and learn a bit of Python. I already knew some of it from my work on translating A Piece of Cake.
Is was just intended as a proof of concept for myself, not for release, but the characters kind of got away from me so I thought you might want to try it out. It's a game where you play as a human female, and explo...

There is a male to female potion type that is partly finished available in the shop (if you are male). I left it in as it would have delayed the release to unpick it. It's primary function works, but the side-effects are not there yet.
