Happy (observed) Halloween!

Black Wings for Halloween

I painted these Black Wings as a backdrop for photoshoots. This week it's all Halloween-themed and spooky scary. However, I made the painting somewhat ambiguous- are they wings, is it hair, or is it simply a crazy pattern for your mind to joust with?

I love working with creative models. Julie came in and grabbed my foraminifera scarf. "Can I pose with this- just this?" Absolutely. I love when a piece that I designed is incorporated into new works. What followed (this week's photos) was a stunning series of images that are sensual, passionate, and creative.

First Time

I've been moving a few items to Bentbox (at twice the price that patrons pay, of course), and one collection was from my first time with Kalopsia. It was early days, and a lot of Photoshopping had to be done.

As I worked on getting it ready to move, I realized there were some gems that maybe you all haven't seen.

"First Glance" again, by Request

When a model is requested, I go into the archives and see what's there. The adventure into the past often takes on a new life. 

I got a request for Kyla, and when I went to pull images from the archives, I was stunned by the beauty of the shots from 2 years ago.

What do you look for in Beauty?

There's an aesthetic that I visit occasionally of the European style of chaotic beauty, where everything is tossled, in the midst of ancient architecture. 

This week is a bit about that aesthetic. 

3909 is the Number, and the number is:

3909. I had to go to the image archives to retrieve a photo of Maizy in the grass, and I wasn't sure where it was, but I knew the number. So I punched in a search "3909" and found it, and...

There were several images with the same number, and some were from models that don't appear in the feed that often. I thought it would be cool to make a week's show out of it.

California Poppies

A little roadtrip can bring you to very unexpected places. Less than 2 hours from my studio, there lies a beautiful vista, full of wildflowers, and-- what's this? It's a Long-haired Oregon Floofie, migrating to warmer climes! 

The Best of those on Hiatus

Some models retire, some go on hiatus for a while and then return. 

This week is a collection of models on hiatus. As the old song goes, "We may never pass this way again!"

Model Mayhem sometimes produces a collaboration that lasts for years. If you look in my archives here, you'll see I've worked with Alia for almost 5 years now. It's been a consistent once-or-twice-a-year thing. 

I really appreciate her- the next time we meet, I think I'll bring presents!

Two Models

A dream of any photographer is to have multiple models to work with. For February, I had some cancellations, and plans fell through, and I was down. 

Then, I got calls from two different models- great! But on the same day???

Cacia Zoo took the mohawk tradition of retro punks by shaving the sides of her head. Of course with such dense locks, one would scarcely recognize it, unless she wanted one to see. That is her power as an artist to shock and amaze when she sees fit.
