Found out through sokomin, the wonderful creator of It's On, that our editor Kristine had her birthday like... a month ago? So I drew her an incredibly belated gift. Fingers crossed that she'll like it!

It really depends on both the editor and the creator. Some creators prefer to have an editor be more hands-off, especially once they've figured out the direction of their series. While I don't rely on my editor ...

Quick background painting

Hand Jumper is set in a fictionalized version of Korea, so I've been doing a few setting studies here and there. I'm thinking of adding a character to the foreground- any that you guys would like to see in particular?

I just moved out of my dorm! Now I'm getting settled into a new place (with a new drawing tablet...!) so things are a little slow. But we should be back with a new episode next week! In the meantime, here's some in-progress images for some Hand Jumper art.

Ryujin Painting Process

Paintover I did the other day. I'll go through my process!

1. Sketch. Self-explanatory.

2. Base paint. Blocking in the colors under the sketch.

3. Paint over. I merge all the layers (color and sketch layers) from the previous step and then paint directly on that single layer. This ends up erasing most of the line work.

4. Adding FX. Gaussian blur layer, some color adjustment. And we're done!

Bonus illustration: Forgiveness

I was commissioned to design a Little Red Riding Hood-esque character for my friend's DnD campaign a few years back. This character's design served as the basis for the character Ryujin in Hand Jumper, and vice versa- now, whenever I draw a Little Red Riding Hood, I base her loosely off of Ryujin.
