Summer Band- Full Color Version

Sayeon doesn't like video games, but she's very, very good at them-- much to Jaeil's chagrin. Her specialty is RTS games, but she isn't half-bad with Street Fighter either.

She's not one to indulge in her emotions-- when she smiles for longer than a few minutes, her face hurts. Before she returned to the others, Sayeon made sure to snap this moment out of existence... so technically speaking, this embarrassing meltdown never happened. That's how it works, right?

Sayeon New Colors Test

Making preparations for the return right now. Hand Jumper's colors were originally supposed to go from bright and saturated to increasingly darker and more realistic, until it was eventually entirely monochromatic (with the exception of essence, and the color red.) While I've long abandoned that idea, I still refresh the palette every once in a while to match the story's tone.

And there's the problem with webtoons. I wish I could make a different color palette for every character in eve...

Son Aera

Aera is one of my favorite dead characters. As Head of the Aberrant Corps, Aera was both a Level 10 Captain and unanimously elected Head by all other Captains-- so she wasn't just powerful, but overwhelmingly popular. Her death on Seju Island shook the Aberrant Corps, and put the whole organization on a downwards trajectory.

Hand Jumper Ink Washes

Found this cool (digital) brush that simulates watercolors. I haven't painted painted something in a long time, and I honestly thought I forgot how to do it. But the Min painting came very quickly and naturally to me-- took maybe thirty minutes.

They're both sad characters in their own right. Sometimes two people have what the other wants, but because of misaligned desires, neither end up happy.

Illustration + mini-lesson-- how NOT to do colors in your art

Was looking through my sketches from last year and saw the first image here-- it sucked balls. I wanted to fix it.

If you find that your art isn't punching hard enough, check the contrast by adding a Color layer above everything, and then filling that layer with black! Contrast that is too low, too high, or directing your eye to the wrong place CAN and WILL ruin your piece.

Sayeon's Hair

Some sketches I did of Sayeon with somewhat shorter bangs. Sayeon's current hairstyle is meant to look kind of dorky and uncool-- like if someone with bangs stopped getting their hair trimmed, and didn't care enough to style it properly (which is, in Sayeon's case, exactly what happened.) Sayeon had short hair for most of her childhood, but she decided to grow it out after a certain incident in her life.
