Happy New Year Everyone! [+some announcements]

Happy 2024! Thank you for all the support you have shown me throughout the year, whether you’ve been here for a while, or just joined recently, I appreciate you being here and supporting my work :)

"Just send a pulse of mana, and it will activate," Kaelan instructed.

I walked towards Ash, petting the giant wolf on his head. I could feel the Gu pulsing inside of him. It was shallower now, his ties to the earth and the energy of death weakening as he spent more and more time above the surface. There was no danger of Ash losing his abilities, but I could tell that his spirit was growing weaker, albeit very slowly.

Aurelia felt the world twisting around her as she found herself standing in the new environment. The searing hot air washed over her skin, the sudden rise in temperature making her body tingle. She stood on a circular rocky platform, with cliffs surrounding her on all sides.

After spending a relatively restless night in his new bed, Noah arrived at the training hall as the light from the first dawn began to pierce through the skies earlier than he had anticipated. It really was strange to be living on something that was flying through the clouds for such extended periods of time. I  walked through the village of Taizhou, which was now a lot emptier. Not  every villager had moved to the city; some still remained, looking  after their homes and working. But most of those who remained were  people who were under my sect, or had work related to it and could get  the necessary security all the way out here. [QiB3] 9 — Young Paths

Chi circulated around Labby as she sat in her chamber meditating. Her Path had shifted when the heavens had changed. Her Qi had changed, alongside the heavens, as Chi had taken its place instead. As a result, her lightning had shifted subtly as well, though she couldn’t quite tell how.

[QiB3] 8 — A Royal Summon

I flew through the skies, making my way to Lord Zhou's manor. By opting to fly rather than take a carriage, I kept my journey short. The concerned look of the messenger who had informed me of this meeting did not bode well. As I descended, the guards watched me warily before recognizing me and giving a light bow.

As I stepped down, a servant rushed out, bowing her head deeply. “Elder Jie, the Lord is awaiting you.”

[QiB3] 7 — Lab Developments

Flying really was super convenient. The realization became more and more apparent as I made my way around the sect, soaring through the skies. It was a wonder that a cultivator ever decided to walk after they learned how to use sky stepping.

Drawing on the Chi from my environment basically allowed me limitless flight time, which is probably the defining factor for other cultivators. Not everybody had a giant source of Chi to draw from with a Divine Tree attached to their soul.

Instead of walking all the way, I decided to take the shorter route, this time with Mo Lin in my arms. Sky Stepping was still a skill I was not extremely proficient in, but the girl did not need to know that. After her initial shrieking of fear, she seemed to be having a wonderful time. I couldn’t blame her; flying was a special experience. Even as someone who had lived in a modern world with airplanes that flew way higher than I could currently, there was something special about being able...

Noah looked at the captain, wondering if it was alright for her to just stand there while the ship took off. He didn’t have any idea how things worked here; it probably was fine, but it still felt strange to see. People began to scatter, some heading into their rooms to rest, others checking out the training areas on the top floor. In his mind, Noah had been treating this airship like a typical airplane from his world, but standing here, he realized that this place was truly a flying ship, ...

Mo Lin walked behind the sect elder, her heart pounding with fear, uncertain of what had drawn his attention to her. All she had been doing was practicing the forms alongside her peers, but then, out of nowhere, he had appeared, singling her out and leading her away from the others. She shuffled her feet, secretly hoping the elder might suddenly realize he had the wrong person and release her. But with each step, her hopes faded, replaced by a growing dread of impending punishment.

Posting Announcement

Not sure why this post didn't upload as scheduled. Anyway. I've got a deadline to finish the third book of Qi/The Laws of Cultivation. I'm uploading 9 chapters today, and will likely continue with daily uploads after that. 

Most of you here are likely here for Rise of the Devourer, and the schedule for that won't be affected. I'll be trying to upload 3-4 chapters of RotD every week alongside Qi. The next one will be in roughly 3 hours from now.

I followed behind Qiao Ying making my way towards the chamber where the formation had been prepared for this scrying. I had been quite surprised to learn about the existence of long range communication like this, but in hindsight it shouldn’t have been too much of a surprise. Given the kinds of various mystic arts that existed it wasn’t a big stretch to imagine cultivators being capable of projecting their images across large distances.

Zax stood within the library, going through the various shelves, as he tried to look for the book that may have the answers he was seeking. A spell pulsed around him, being cast independently with a strain of thought in his mind, maintaining a ward that would silence his presence here. He wasn’t supposed to be here, but just a brief look at the procedures required to gain legitimate access to the location had made the Dragon opt for the easier and faster route.

Noah walked around the store, his hands full with bags of clothing as he followed behind Aurelia and Snow. He wasn't sure why he had expected shopping for clothes to go any differently in this world than it would in his own.
