I Feel like I missed the mark with this one, I feel like it’s kind of unfocused. There’s too many different colors, not really a palette to bring it all together. To be fair, the reference image had some weird lighting going on, it seems like it’s called an hour through the trees but in the background it looks like an overcast day. So maybe that was also why I’ve got some funky lighting happening in mine. Oh well move on and try again tomorrow.

Room Assignment #2 // VOTE IN COMMENTS

My assignement for Kat Tsai's light and colour class! We had to create 3 different lighting conditions of the same room. I still have to fix my original room drawing. It is a true nightmare. Why is it so difficult to light a plain white room?! It's much more straightforward to light these scenes because they're so much less subtle and you can really go nuts with colour.

Another plein air. I feel a bit more confident after a bit of practice, but I did have a lot of difficulty with this tree. I’m trying to figure out how much I can simplify while still keeping enough detail. If I get really bored with all the details of leaves, I wonder if people usually have a brush for it.

Still working on studies! Getting more comfortable. Feels like this is my first time caricaturing a face from a movie still where it actually looks good. Tried a new technique with new brushes and I think it turned out pretty cool! What do you think?

Bedroom light study

Not giving up on studying lighting, I’ve started Kat Tsai’s assignment which is to draw a room in my house with natural lighting. Been working on it for the past two days and having a lot of difficulty with shadow colors. I learned that if you have a cool light then your shadow should be warm and vice versa, so I’m really stuck because my lighting doesn’t quite work like that. I started to study to practice lighting on a smaller scale, practice before I try the assignment again.

Unexpected illustration

Started doodling, I wanted to have a sketch ready to go on TikTok live tonight. But one thing led to another and I kept having to expand my canvas and kept having to expand the composition, and this simple doodle turned into a much more complicated illustration lol I hope I finish. I’ll def be posting a vid about when I eventually finish!
