The Parity 0.53a

Patch to 0.53 version. Some minor bugs and typos fixed. It's easier (from 9 to 7) to get Martha's help in chapter 13 (it seems that the threshold is too high).

How does chapter 13 end in your walkthrough?

So, after the chapter 13 we have a big switch about Caroline's path. I'm curious what happened in your walkthrough. :)

Here we go with another chapter. :) It could be very short or very long, depending on your previous choices, but as you can see, it offers one of the endings of Robert's path (of course, if Carl's plans suceeded).

Hello everybody. :) I'm officially coming back to live and create. Those 6 months were really rough, but May was calm enough to bring Parity back to life. ;)

Hey! First of all, I want to apologize for the lack of an update. Covid hit me, and I needed much time for the recovery. On the other hand, February was quite busy because of the situation in Eastern Europe. For now, I withdrew my resignation from my work. I got the promotion and a new goal - I'll coordinate actions that will help Ukrainians in Poland. I speak Ukrainian and Russian, and I haven't imagined that I would use those languages in such terms.

So, I caught covid. :/ I feel quite well (the vaccination in October hit me more). I try to write, but I'm not the most effective with that. :(

Wow, what a year

Sorry for the silence and the lack of release. If some of my December's patrons don't support me anymore, please, send me PM, I'll send you new chapter as I finish it.

My parents-in-law in late December, and my wife now caught covid. It's nothing alarming, but energy- and time-draining for me. :) 

I hope nothing unexpected happens and I'll give you a release soon. :)

About the competent NPCs

One of my goals during writing "The Parity" was to make competent NPCs. Pauline of course is the main character, and I think that you feel that many of your decisions influence the story directly. But some of your choices shape the story in another way.  Here I give you a scene that fulfills one of those situations. Martha has a plan, but you can through your walkthrough make her change her decision.

Should we have Discord?

Belgaesh proposed that The Parity should have a Discord channel. I was thinking about it some time ago, but as I use Discord only for playing tabletop RPG, I have a small experience how such channel should look like. And however my wife surprised me with the plenty of inspirations (well, she's a better gamer than me, that's for sure), I follow    Belgaesh's advice and I ask you about it. :) Do you think we should have our own space at Discord?

Chapter 13 will be huge and important. Probably I'll cut some passages, but I think it will be the longest single chapter to write so far (however, I'm afraid that chapter 15 will be long that I will have to divide it). Everything is in motion, so I'm excited to see the results of the future polls, how you have handled all the challenges. ;)

Chekhov's gun in The Parity

We have 10 chapters to the end, so it's about 200k-250k words+the epilogues. The resolving of the paths is more challenging than their introductions. I try to note every element that should be explained in the story, due to Chekhov's guidance that the riffle on the wall must be shot, or the audience would be disappointed.

Of course, it's not that you have the chance to get all information in a single walkthrough, but I think I need to describe:

The trip is more important than you think. ;) It's a time of summary of your relations during the game. People there will be a rescue team if things from chapter 14 would get dark.

I still work on chapter 12. I hoped that November and December would be enough loose for me to write 3 chapters, just to catch the delay up. Unfortunately, my work keeps me busy, and frustrated me. I plan to buy a computer good enough to work on the graphics and more serious game development, so maybe I could quit my job, and focus on the games. I keep thinking about the way to implement everyday life into the mechanics that I created for  "The Parity".  And as I'm really satisfied with the basics of these mechanics, I think I need something else to cover the advantages and everyday life - something that could change and needs the attention of the player, but it changes slowly.

I've started to work on chapter 12, so you can see the general idea. However, as there will be 4-7 people on the trip, my usual structure based on the passages seem to be less useful as general. I have a couple of ideas on how to manage the content, but I will decide during the writing.
