Chapter 55 - The Dawn

The battle didn't stop because of the entrance of the high Level Adventurers. Reivyn wasn't one to goggle, and the situation was certainly in hand, so he quickly made his way back to his original position to defend against the Revenants with Melissa and Larissa in tow.

Now that the Revenants were on top of the wall and engaging properly, Reivyn was finally able to see just how powerful the Revenants were without the restriction of the mana density.

Chapter 54 - It's Darkest Before

Reivyn looked out at the fields covered completely in moving skeletal abominations. In the distance, he counted fifteen Dullahans calmly walking with their heads tucked under their arms, and behind them, he counted five of the giant demons. They were truly monstrous, standing what appeared to be 40 to 50 feet tall. It was difficult to gauge their exact size because of how far away they were, but they towered over everything else. Revenants filled the entire space, and then some, around the la...

Chapter 53 - The Storm

Reivyn stood upon the ramparts and stared off into the distance. The last group of villagers, the first ones Reivyn and his Party had encountered, were finally making their way into the city below. The atmosphere was charged. Almost literally. Reivyn could feel the increased mana density as it spread all the way to Magron.

The other aspect was the palpable anxiety he could feel from the other people lining the ramparts, waiting. The Lord's Retinue, the City Guard, the Count's...

Chapter 52 - The Calm Before

Reivyn ran along beside Erik and the others on their horses. He matched steps with Erik, and he, after several minutes of running, felt his Forced March Skill kick in. It reduced a lot of the Stamina consumption. He kept his armor on, as he was still wary of any stragglers from all those months ago from the beast tide, but he removed his helmet, and so did Erik.

Judging by his outward Stamina consumption, Erik either has the Forced March Skill or something similar to redu...

Finals of the Party Name

Most votes were to keep the Party name as "The Ravens," but there were enough to pick something different and some good suggestions, so one more poll to choose the final winner. The name will retroactively be changed in the latest chapters.

Chapter 51 - He Bravely Turned His Tail and Fled

Reivyn stood near the entrance to the Dungeon as he watched every Party that came out, looking to see if they were his companions. He fidgeted back and forth on his feet, eager to get moving.

I don't know the exact extent as to the changes the ambient mana has gone through, but this Dungeon was discovered months before the Count sent his men to conscript us. And who knows how long it existed before then?

I knew that the mana density could feel li...

Party Name

I need a Party Name to supply to the Adventurer's Guild. I'm having a hard time coming up with a good one. It's for a Party consisting of everyone: Reivyn, Teilon, Kimberly, Melissa, Larissa, and Erik, not just the original three. It is currently The Ravens, but I'll let this poll go through the weekend, and I'll change it to whatever has the most popular support on Monday.

Chapter 50 - Brave, Brave Sir Reivyn

Reivyn walked with the sword-priests as they marched towards the church compound. He noticed that his body subconsciously matched the steps of the church members, but he just shrugged and kept doing it. Because he had changed his upper armor, he almost matched the others, and to those who didn't know, it almost looked like he was the commander of the troop. This resulted in hardly anyone taking any notice of him in the procession.

These guys are still being pretty polite, despi...

Reivyn groaned as he rolled over and slowly stood up. His entire body ached. He felt as if his insides had shifted from the blow he took from the giant, and his entire lower body was going to be sore for several days from the stress of activating Charge in such quick succession.

Chapter 48 - Too Easy

The small claw slammed into Reivyn's shield, not moving a single inch. He hardly even felt the blow from the weak goblin, and only the sound of the collision was noteworthy. The attack was followed up with a sweep of Reivyn's sword, slashing through multiple goblins that had encroached upon him with ease.

Reivyn was angled slightly with his back and side against the left-hand wall of the corridor that led into the goblin's berth. He had steadily made his way down the Dungeon,...

Teilon placed his cards on the table and lifted his arms in triumph.

"Hah! Finally beat you," he exclaimed.

"Yeah, yeah, you only had to team up with Kimberly to do it," Reivyn smirked.

"Since when did you get so lucky?" Teilon asked as he scooped up the cards.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Reivyn shrugged. "I'm obviously just the superior card player."

Teilon rolled his eyes as he started shuffli...

Chapter 46 - Return

Reivyn leisurely stretched as he slowly opened his eyes. He smacked his lips as he gradually came awake. He felt like he had just had the best sleep of his life. His vision came into focus, and he was momentarily confused at waking up in a different location.

Where am I? Reivyn sat up and looked around. He was placed on a bed in an unfamiliar, large room consisting of rows of beds. Some of the others had occupants, but most were empty. His companions were sitting or ...

Reivyn's body submerged in the liquid and he slowly sank to the bottom. He didn't know what to expect out of entering the alchemical concoction, but based on what happened to the goblin, he wasn't thinking it would be anything good.

Except for not being able to breathe, it's not much different than water. It's not actually boiling - I suspect the bubbling is magical in nature - and it's cold to the touch.

He kept his eyes firmly shut, as he didn't wa...

Melissa watched the young man they had entangled themselves with out of the corner of her eye as he did calisthenics in the hallway. He always moved with purpose, and he never let himself sit still or let any time go to waste.

He was an enigma.

He's far more hardworking and inquisitive than any of the other young men and women in the Academies. They've been raised with resources, opportunities, and tutors their whole lives, and that breeds a certain expec...

Chapter 43 - High Muckamuck

Reivyn did some simple stretches and calisthenics in the hallway leading up to the boss room. The entire Party was there, and the plan was for the three companions who couldn't use mana to rush in and do as much damage as they could in six or seven minutes, then retreat to the hallway or entrance, depending on the situation. The boss room on the first floor didn't close off once they entered it, and Reivyn didn't see a door or mechanism to do so at the end of this hallway either.

Chapter 41 - Interlude: Princess Amily and Brave Sir Fenrix

Ameliyn sat on the couch to hand knit some smaller, more delicate projects. She didn't always do all of her work on the loom, but the things she produced to sell were usually larger things she created quickly. For the more personal items she made, she liked to do it by hand. It felt more intimate to know that something her daughters wore was made with her hands directly.

She wasn't currently making a more intimate piece of clothing, though. Instead, he eyes were focused beyon...

Chapter 38 - The Dungerums

Reivyn took a deep breath of the fresh air as soon as they stepped out of the caverns into the bright sunlight. Due to how the Dungeons worked, it was perpetually sunlight in the open air area of the Dungeon, and the marked difference of the sunlight and cool breeze helped to wash away the gloom that was practically sticking to Reivyn and his Party.

Larissa ran ahead and spun around with her arms out as she basked in the open air. She twirled around a couple of times before d...

The hallway was clogged with a shambling horde of eight Revenants, six more laying on the ground behind the surging mass, never to rise again. Various weapons and pieces of rotten equipment were strewn along the ground in the wake of the undead.

Reivyn looked through the doorway that had opened up after they defeated the boss room. Their was a clear demarcation as the color of the floors and walls were a dark, dark gray as opposed to the earthy browns of the cave system on the first floor. The walls and floor were made of brick and were clearly man-made.

The ambient lighting was dimmer and only extended to twenty feet into the distance. A warm wind blew into Reivyn's face as he stood at the precipice. The air w...
