I'll admit, I wasn't fully prepared for just how grim this chapter was. It sort of came up naturally when I looked at the context. I've spent the entire book so far stressing that Katrina can't survive on pig's blood, but she's also clearly alive and well four years after the Change. She has a lot of pent-up trauma, is scared to be close to people, and seems intensely aware of what might happen if she loses control.

Rough Draft - Suddenly A Succubus Ch. 27

(V2) I've added more to the opening scene, giving us more time to explore the immediate aftermath of the ritual. I still montage through the week of media coverage, as that's pretty much inevitable, but I think this gives a little more connective tissue between last book and this one. I added a few extra lines at the start of the scene where Tessa and Amara are hooking up, as well.

The whole opening scene of this chapter is a great example of the quieter, more slice-of-life style content that comes naturally when I'm trying to flesh out my chapters. My initial outline didn't have this section, didn't have the sex scene with Nick, didn't have Amara giving Chloé a half-truth about her and Nick.
