The Best Free Plugins for Jungle in 2024

Good Sunday everyone! Just a quick link of my new YouTube video up here :)

I've gone for max production value in this one with all the edits/animations & sfx. I'm really trying to challenge myself to take the theme and storytelling as far as I possibly can with the vids. I hope you enjoy the trip up to space. πŸš€

There will definitly be a part two to this series i'm working on next week. I've also had quite a few people ask for a 'behind the scenes' video where I show my proc...

Patreon Production Tips 3 - Panning

Hello everyone! Let's dive into the week with some more production tips. This time going over some of my favourite panning tricks.

Panning on FX - Here anything goes like random panning, side to side panning, all kinds of panning movement can work great on FX.

Panning on Drums - Certain elements like breaks often want to be stable and fairly down the middle even though this isn't a hard and fast rule. Generally elements with ...

Making a Jungle Track Inspired by 90s Video Games

Got my head down this week & managed to get this one finished before the weekend. Time to enjoy the last of the summer sun tomorrow before the long winter hits! β˜€οΈ

If anyone has any questions about the techniques in this video please fire away in the comments.

Also, if anyone is intrested in playing this I managed to get it running on a M1 mac with relative ease following this guide - 2024-09-20 18:00:27 +0000 UTC View Post

Just a quick update from me ♨️

Sorry for being a bit slow this month getting the video's out. πŸ™

Last monday just as I was about to start my week, I had a bit of a nightmare and poured boiling hot water directly on my hand! πŸ€•

It was certainly one of the more stupid things i've done in life & I can't really give you a good explanation why. I was honestly simply attempting to pour water down the sink and my hand got stuck in the way. πŸ˜‚

It set me back a little bit last week but were now back up ...

Important Drum Techniques Part 1

Today I'm diving back into the deep pit that is my Apple Notes library! πŸ“

I started note taking about 8 years ago as a way to try and make sense of the unbelieveable amount of information there is to learn in music production. πŸͺ

I'm sure you've all felt the mental strain of jumping from sound designing in a project one minute, to diving down a YouTube rabbit hole of mixing and mastering guides and then onto some random music theory and jazz composition video. 1 hour later yo...

How to Chop Drum Breaks for Beginners

In case anyone missed it, here is a little refresher on the basics of break chopping. There are actually loads of different ways you can prepare and slice your breaks before you even get into the programming or processing.

I've covered a lot of these techniques in various video's but it's nice to have them all in one place for everyone to see. ✌️

Individual Slice Techniques

(1) Equal Slices

  • Slice the break at even intervals to include all ...

Patreon Production Tips 2 - Crashes

Yo, I’m back with some more production tips! This time we’re diving into crash cymbals and a few other transitional elements. It may seem like such a simple topic but there are a few tricks I use all the time I thought were worth sharing.

Processing - Reverb, Delay, RX950, High Pass Filter

RX950 - Pull down the bandwidth or filter to roll of the high frequencies till the crash fits with your drums & breaks.

Patreon Production Tips 1 - Loop FX

I thought it would be a fun & useful idea to start a production techniques series here on Patreon. πŸ₯·

It’s often hard to implement tips & tricks you learn in a video when there’s too much information being thrown at you. I hope this will be a good way to breakdown a lot of my content into more digestible chucks!

This one is about Loop FX:

  • Play with loop start/end.

  • Pitch envelope amount & shape.

I actually had other intentions for my YouTube video this week but got so stuck down this rabbit hole I had to make a video for anyone experiencing the same problems! 🀯

I've got a Patreon exclusive video lined up for next week as well as two videos for the main channel on shortcuts & workflow. One in Logic X and the other in Renoise.

Beyond that the next big project is going to be something with Playstation Jungle in mind. I love having a theme I can run with and have reall...

Optical Techniques (Notes) πŸ“

Hello everyone! Just a quick one from me today to start off another month. πŸ“†

Even though I've spent much of my time over the last few years teaching others & making YouTube videos, I still have this unquenchable thirst to know everything I can about music production.

I think we've all been caught in the trap of watching too much content and not making enough music. To counter against this bottomless pitfall into self loathing & doubt, these days I try my best to test ou...

90 Jungle Techniques - Distorting Hardware

I'm sure some of you are like me & find these more experimental techniques absolutely fascinating. πŸ§¬πŸ‘¨β€πŸ”¬

The core of all this is essentially smashing the inputs into various bits of equipment from mixing desks to samplers to guitar pedals and resampling the results. You can also repeat processes like the Aural Exciter or Gain Functions in the EMU to mangle them even more.

What you often get is extremely distorted sounds that can then be layered with the original sour...

Lemon D & Dillinja: Bass Production

Part 1 Drums & Breaks - https://youtu.be/S0Azt2MCI3I

The first two parts of this series are now up on YouTube. This is really a fleshing out of all the ideas I started in the Patreon video I uploaded here a week or so ago.

I've also actually just had a moment of inspiration for adding another part to this series. πŸ’‘

The title is going to be something like 'Lemon D & Dillinja Part 3 - Abus...

Lemon D & Dillinja Style (Heavy Bass Samples)

This is now open to all tiers as I feel it falls under project related samples :)

I've been (not so) quietly working away at a Lemon D/ Dillinja Style project for my next YouTube vid!

I'm trying to get it as polished as possible before doing the tutorial as I think its important to get this one right. I'm close with a lot of the sound design on the bass & drums so with a few more elements this tune will really start to come together over the next few days.

Lemon D Drums and Breaks

Yo hope everyone is pumped for the weekend! I've got some heavy handed drums & breaks processing for you in this one. πŸ₯·

Dillinja and Lemon D are two legends of the DnB & Jungle scene and have some absolute slammers between them which still tear up raves today. This legendary duo have remained largely untouched on the internet with barely a single remarke or recreation attempted.

This is partly due to a lot of the mysticism surrounding their techniques. Apart from word o...

Music Theory for Jungle Producers 🎼

I thought I would link this here just in case anyone has any questions they woud like to ask on the video :)

Jungle & electronic producers in general often push against music theory as something that isn't necessary to make great music in this genre. Whilst this is absolutly true, I do think the essentials I go through in this video can really help you even if you still prefer to use your ears more than tools like mixed in key.

These concepts of course all apply to Hip-Hop, UK...

Fracture & Neptune DOA Notes

Most of you can probably tell by now that I'm big into the workflow & research side of making music!

Notes are a huge part of this for me and are something I've kept up pretty consistently over the years, trying to learn every last bit of information I can about dnb & jungle production. πŸ“

There are some great threads on DOA with the Paradox one being a strong favourite. It helped me enormously for my YouTube video series deciphering his somewhat cryptic production sty...

Mr Majestic 90s Style Jungle Production

Here is fun vid of me making a track using the most recent sample pack for the higher tiers. πŸ’Ž

I love starting with samples as the basis from a project and then using little synth motifs to bring everything together.

This track is about 80% finished by the end of the video, I'm going to work on it this weekend for that last 20% and hopefully get it on Arcologies next jungle mixtape πŸš€

Have a great weekend all! ✌️

The Power of Sample Managers: Tips and Tricks for Producers

Thanks to Daniel C and Kris for suggesting this one. 😊

Right from the start of my musical journey i've been obsessed with collecting samples of all kinds, from psychedelic folk music to ambient library music. Organising all of this in a sample manager can seem like a daunting task at first and is something I know a lot of people put off or don't view as entirely necessary.

I come from the other side of the fence, where I can clearly see how much my work in Audio Finder has h...

Photek Snare Roll Technique πŸ₯· (Patreon Exclusive)

I have always wondered how Photek had made those delicious snare rolls in his tracks like 'The Rain' https://youtu.be/KzJOCPXqlvw?t=138

I knew it wasn't as simple as velocity rolls and probably had something to do with looping in his EMU e4. The solution I've found involves looping part of the snare hit and controlling it's decay with an envelope. This can be used to fine tune the roll.

Good day everyone. 😊

I thought I would jump in here and do a little post to help you through the mid week grind!

Firstly, I want to say how much I've been loving Amigo. There is a lot of hype around this plugin at the moment which is great to see. I've been using it for about a week or so non-stop.

Whilst it's not doing anything truely gamechanging in terms of sample rate/bit-depth/pitch interpolation. It does sound very clean against similar plugins like decimort. Most o...
