“Are you inspired by Calvin and Hobbes?” It’s a question I’ve heard more than a few times in my career. And for me, the answers is always an emphatic YES! One of the interesting things about drawing a comic strip is watching the art style drift over time. on the left is a panel from one of the first Crabgrass strips and on the right is a panel from a strip completed only this week. The differences aren’t huge. In fact they are mostly from the neck up, but they are pretty glaring to me, Curtis’s hair has gotten lumpier over time, while Kevin’s has gotten more angular.
