Molly - tails and tongues

Something "simple" done for my character Molly, who up until now had never been featured in their own picture. A technical experiment as well; getting her hair to do this was a new challenge, jumping back and forth between DAZ Studio (for the posing and rendering) and Blender (for manipulating her hair model).

Anyway, hi! Molly's just being playfully friendly and showing off a bit, nothing special. Enjoying the view? :P

I've almost never featured her in a scene of her own, but Chelsea is perhaps my favorite of all my characters. She's got a simple, down-to-earth look, yet still sporting a dramatically long tongue just to drive home her Paeran-ness.

quickie update (I've been sick)

Title kinda says it, but apologies for the lack of activity at the end of the month there. Long story short, hung around a bonfire a little too close and inhaled too much smoke, and brought myself down with a cold for this past... about a week, now? I've lost track of time.

Chelsea birthday wip1

So today is my birthday! And I've been taking a brief break from those other projects to make a bit of a present for myself. A simple concept that's turned a bit more complicated, but still going relatively quick.

Probably not finishing tonight (and I don't really want to be spending my whole birthday working on a picture anyway), but done soon! So long as I don't complicate it any further, of course. I... I'm probably going to complicate it further.

Molly profile (update 2018)

One of many character updates well overdue! This time featuring Molly, a character I don't believe I've given a scene yet.

Molly's character is a bit of a mystery, to me. I simply haven't figured out everything of her personality, yet. I know she very much has a preference for other ladies; she's gentle but indulgent, perhaps a bit less prone to eating all of her little playmates and playthings. And I know she's more relaxed, despite having a bit of a peppy appearance...

June Update #2! (projects progress and new stuff)

A few updates to follow up on the last update!

First out of the gate... I've been continuing to have ups and downs with sleep schedule, which has been an issue for me for a long time now. At the moment it's going good! It can flip around in the span of a few days sometimes, but currently I'm loosely following a sunrise-sunset schedule, which is hugely helpful for me. Super-early mornings are generally my most productive times, it's quiet and calm and I'm still a little sleepy so it's ...

It's early in the morning and my art block is briefly absent, so here's a rough start on a picture that's been floating in my head lately ^^

I described a bit of this in the previous update, but to refresh! Momiji is going to have 4-5 tiny people in the scene with her: one being squished against her tongue (thus the finger position), one caught in her cleavage, and the other two-three in her opposite hand, which I'll bring up into view as I keep working on things.

Renders done! Just a whole lot of postwork to come, next.

What you're seeing here is 3 separate renders of the same scene, different lighting in each. It's tricky to get the lighting and colors to look just right in DAZ, so my preference is to just render a few shots, then combine and edit in Photoshop.
Examples: the far-right slice is a much brighter lighting, but since some of the scene's lights don't cast shadows, there's some areas lit up (mostly the gums) that simply shouldn't...

Update - June 2018

Slow progress, but a bunch of things happening! I'll try to keep things short.

We'll start with a follow-up to the most recent update, the subject of upgrading from DAZ Studio 3.1 to 4.10 version. In short, it was a bust. It *is* possible to migrate some things over, but it's tedious, time-consuming, the newer program actually loses some features I've come to rely on so it's actually slower to work with. It's simply not worth it, and so I'm sticking with what I have and the vague hope...

Character profiles

By the way! I'm intending to do something (semi) new, writing up a more detailed bio and introduction for a character of mine, Senka (since more info on her was requested a little while back).
That'll probably come in the next few days - give or take, since I don't know how much free time I've got - but after that, I think I might like to delve into details of a few more, as well. Plain text, trying to cover more of the characters' personality, where they fit into Paeratopa, a bit of lore rel...

Update 2 - May 2018

An update on top of an update!

So, on to the update. I've been taking this month to re-install Windows onto an SSD I'd bought last year, and it's been a few days of trying to get everything back to how it should be (I still have the old HDD with Windows on it, so I can just switch them around to boot into my old setup when needed; it's just a little inconvenient).

So far so good... ish. My original intention had been to, as part of the reinstallation process, scoot my work from the old D...

Momiji's icecream wip1

Adding this to the "stuff I might work on" pile. Just a rough setup at the moment, but I had this picture in my head of Momiji licking an icecream cone that's maybe just a liiiittle too small compared to her, but looking super happy about it anyway. (in my head, Momiji would be enlarged as she usually likes to be, the icecream would just be normal-sized or close to it.)

Potential for another friend to be sitting next to her doing the same, but at a smaller scale; and/or someone sitting next to...

Getting rolling a little slowly, but rolling all the same! It may take a little time before I hit that point of having multiple projects to show off at once.

Update - May 2018 (priority shifting)

Hello, hello! Let's jump right into this one.

I've been having a lot of ups and downs for a while now, trying to figure out exactly what I'm trying to achieve with... well, everything. It's tricky, trying to make a business of creative work, that odd juxtaposition of "you can't force it" and "well actually, that's your job". I haven't been handling it all that well, but it's a learning experience.

Early start on May's project, perhaps? I have a few other random ideas floating around - and a doc with a bunch of suggestions to draw inspiration from - but for now, this is (relatively) simple and I really, really like how these usually come out.

As the title suggests, it's Teena this time 'round! The fangs are a bit of a giveaway as well, though for the most part her mouth isn't too different from many others. I haven't quite settled on the exact viewing angle and pose and all that just yet...

Belated monthly update! (still April, at least.)

So... I haven't too much to mention, in actuality. But a few plans/changes that do bear bringing up.

First off, smaller projects! I feel like I've said this a dozen times before, but I've been reminded again of just how relaxing it can be to work on a non-gigantic project. I've no intention of stopping on those either - a big project can be really rewarding to finish - but for my own sanity I've gotta let myself slip in...

Final stretch! Actually, it's rendering while I type this, there's not a whole lot to it. Did a bit of my usual obsessing over details - should her arm be bent at a 34-degree angle, or 33? - but managed to get past that relatively quickly, thankfully!

This was a fun one, I need to do more like this. Not the theme, necessarily, but the simplicity of it, no need for 7 characters all in one scene or backgrounds full of clutter. I'll still do those of course, but I just need to learn that not ever...

I actually wasn't planning on this one, but after putting a bit of work into trying to make the pizza slice here into a proper, morph-able prop, I got carried away and just started playing around with it. mini-update - food models

Sooo this probably isn't very exciting to many of you, but it's something I'm excited about! Mostly because these sorts of 3D models have been my white whale for a long while; making detailed models of organic shapes (i.e., not easily constructed out of cubes and planes and spheres) is a lot more difficult than I could handle, and it's only more recently that I've had the opportunity to create and purchase models of this sort.

Updated and finished! Tweaked the lighting and I'm much happier with it now.

Sharing treats can be difficult, sometimes. You can't just split one treat two ways, and taking turns means someone has to just sit there and watch while the other has all that fun...

Finished...ish! Mostly finished. I have a few "minor" tweaks to go through still, but everything else is finished enough to post here.

I'll save the full description for the finished-finished piece, so! As a quick little summary of what's left to do, it's just an updated render (changed the light direction and made a little fix to the shape of Charlotte's tongue), but that lighting change messes up some of my postwork, so I'll have to go through it tomorrow and fix that up. Only one last thing to add to this scene, and that's the background (very simple, since as you can see, very little of it will be in-view). In this particular instance, I'll likely be grabbing the background from the last project I did with Charlotte - since that's intended to be her own room - and fix it up if need be before just throwing...

March mini-update

I'd like to briefly apologize for this month's Jasmine + Charlotte project being late (again), I was a little too(?) optimistic about how quickly and easily I'd be able to finish it up. Now, it shouldn't take more than a couple of days still, but same as the last time I had a project run late, I'll try to make sure and send the finished file out to any patrons who were processed for March but left before the image was completed.

That's all! It is close to being done, but the last bits...
