Phew, I did it. Since it was one of my earliest scene I sketched for my storyboard I wasn't sure if I could depict the electricity in a cool way. Seeing it now, it was a good decision to use colors for the last pages. Oh man, you can't imagine, how excited I am to close this chapter soon. Only 2 pages to go and there is still a lot of 'exposition work' to do. But it will be also much more fun to draw for me since new characters will appear. At this month's end and with only 3 pages left the curtain for the prologue chapter will finally fall. While celebrating this big milestone I also want to promote the second chapter since shit's getting serious for our protagonists and I would really appreciate every little additional support to spread the word then.

Phew, finally done. Took a bit longer than expected. To be honest, I'm torn. Next week the last step before my BA graduation begins. The final design project where I have to develop a vertical slice. But not the exam itself but the uncertain future after that is what makes me feel anxious. For the project I plan to combine it with this patreon site since the main content is art stuff and similar to my general manga style.

Page 77-78: Infiltration[Draft]

We reached the pivotal point of the first chapter and are really close to the end. These pages doesn't contain much glowing light in the dark so it shouldn't be too hard to color them.

Page 76 [HD Page]

Coloring took a bit longer for this page as expected. I realized how less I know about lightning and I definitely want to deepen my knowledge about it.

That was also the reason why I didn't want to show a sketch for the first colored page after a long time, because I wanted to suprise you with the appearance of that girl. If you think she looks familiar to you, you're right. She already appeared at the beginning of the prologue chapter.

So now we get a little hint about Manati's reason for deactivating the manadome. But since her crew is totally confused about her explanation there must be still something odd about this cause. Page 73-75 [Draft]

For a better suprise effect I won't tell what's exactly going on on this pages. My hope is that with last scene the readers will finally feel invested in the events on the ship and the fate of the characters.

Page 72 [HD Page]

So that wraps the whole situation and motivation of both protagonists up for now. The last 8 pages will present the final scene which will also introduce the cliffhanger to chapter 2. Whew. I can't wait for the completition after almost 2 years.

Oh yeah, I finished the german translation of my manga and uploaded it on a german manga webhoster. But the admins have to proof my content so there is no access currently. I'll make an separate announcement, when the chapter is ready.

Redraw of Act 1 (First 40 Pages)

Phew, it took a lot o time, but it's finally done. I redrew the first 40 pages to keep the screen tone, lines and general birghtness consistent. Also did some correctures, like the looking direction of some characters.

So finally we got some details about Taya's tattoo. It always change its shape by the way, but I will come to that fact in the manga later. Hope it doesn't feel like an infodump. Already looking forward for the last pages and the next chapter although I had to change a lot to wrap some scenes up for a better pacing.

Whew... we reached the 70 pages mark, my dear friends. \o/

Have to admit, that this page was exhausting. Also because I did loads of homework stuff in parallel to the lining. Somehow I don't like how the composition turned out. The challenge here was to give a clear picture of the surroundings. It's somewhere on the ship which also have an open view to the ocean. Therefore the sky must be shown but it's hard to choose a tone which don't appear to dark, because there are already a lot of dark t...

The last two pages before the last scene. This dialogue wraps up their motivation for taking part on this whole trial. I am really excited to hear some reactions after the final dozen pages.

[Old & New][Preview]Evolution of Tsulin

It's time again. I feel nostalgic again when I'm seeing this. Back then in the early 2000s my style was heavily influenced by Arina Tanemura (you may know her through her shoujo manga works like Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne or Fullmoon wo sagashite) and that's why Tsulin and many other characters had such big eyes. Somehow it's funny that I already came up with her slit-eyed appearance during 2009. I also remembered what a pain in the ass it was to draw all the side-part-hairstyles from different angle...

So many details... This page took way too long. Winrow's design alone is connected to a long checklist of details I have to consider regarding his design. And as I said in my earlier post I also spent too much time to reproduce the old lost expressions of my deleted layers.

So far by now you might have noticed those colored symbols which can be seen whenever one of the character uses their Ultima. Those signs are called magic seals and can be described as a basic magical phenomenon caused by the focused circulation of mana spheres.

That feeling when you want to work through that specific on page... I am glad enough that I reach the scene were taya's tattoo will be explained. The following page makes it clear that the thorns are easily to burn by Chaudine. On the next one Chaudine makes fun of Taya since she is the only participant who can't use magic due to her seal which is a huge disadvantage.
