After the disaster with the demolitions company, I was about ready to pack my things and head home. If I didn't leave on my own, I figured they had every right to exile me. Do they still exile people? Oh, whatever. The point is, I was feeling terrible, and even worse about the repercussions of my accident. Would I be fined for the damages? Would I be locked up? Hello all!

I am pleased to announce that the Jobs short story you voted for will have its first chapter released next Monday. It took me ages to finish it, but I feel it is almost ready. Thanks for being patient ❤️

As usual, Patrons will get a chapter early every week. The entire thing is only 5 chapters. It’s my first attempt at a “comedy” so go easy on me!

"Is that really necessary?" Nick questions me, curiously. "I just don't get it. Like, why?"

"Because." I tell him as I lean close to my bathroom mirror, applying my mascara. He does not seem satisfied with my answer, quietly judging me from within my earring. "Does a girl need a reason to wear makeup?"

"Well, usually? I thought you guys did it to look pretty." 

"Exactly." I tell him, finishing one eye and moving to the next.

Improving this Patreon

Hi guys, I hope you are all having a good week. Thank you for bearing with my break week. I hope this (very) special chapter makes up for it.

Chapter 49

My phone makes a ding as it sits on the edge of my desk. My eyes glance over at it, only to return to my reports as I finish reviewing them. A minute later, I place my pen down and check to see who messaged me. While I try not to make this a habit, stopping work to chat with friends, there is a chance it could be urgent. My personal and work numbers are one and the same. A friendly 'How are you?' from Ori sounds the same as a 'I need you in City Hall now' from Mayor Rin. 

Chapter 48

"These designs are amazing, Miss Orina! I have no doubt they will be a hit." Sonia beams.

"Miss Orina, will they be one-hundred percent cotton?" Terry asks me.

"Thank you, Sonia, and yes, Terry." I tell my interns as we walk through the office. "That age demographic is ideal at this time now that we have so many children in the city. There will be plenty more soon with all the couples getting married."

"Love is in the air!" Sonia laughs. "Ahh...

Chapter 47

"Lou, dear. Come tell me what you think of this." I call to him in his bedroom.

The sound of short, rapid steps announces his arrival. The young boy runs into my leg, falling over onto my lap. I lean back in my chair to allow him space to move. He fidgets somewhat until he is upright, leaning his head back against my chest. I point to the sketch I have been working on for the better part of the afternoon with a hand, wrapping the other around him fondly.

I never gave Jeannine a detailed physical description in the story, so we went with Thea's take on what she felt was fitting. The city itself took ages to design. My eyes slowly blink open as an annoying ray of sunlight peeks through the blinds right onto them. I groan and look around through squinting eyes.

June Hiatus / MG Update

Hi guys. I'm posting this to inform you all that I will not be uploading any content during the month of June. I wish circumstances were different, but I am currently going through some things that are taking my attention away from writing. This DOES NOT mean that I am quitting. I am only going to be taking a break. I fully intend to complete MG, as well as other short stories that I have promised. But to do that, I have to take care of myself and my priorities first.
