Andrea's expression tells me she's feeling guilty. Outwardly, she looks calm. I know the difference, having worked with her for many years. Small Fry - Chapter 3

I tend to be a pretty heavy sleeper. Noise, light, and temperature rarely wake me. I didn't even think that motion would do it, until I feel the floor begin to shake. I stir, slowly, blinking as my eyes adjust to the light. I'm in a bed that isn't my own, in a place that I don't recognize. That might be cause for alarm, if not for the fact that I hear Andrea's voice in the room, mumbling something to herself.

Hey guys, I hope you're enjoying MG and Small Fry. Due to life issues, I haven't been able to write for some time. Rather than rush a chapter of MG, I'm going to take a break for a week to catch up. I've only taken one other break week since I started uploading way back in September, so forgive me. Chapter 37 will be out on April 19th instead of April 12th. Thanks for understanding.

Chapter 29

My eyes light up as my final’s grades appear on my laptop screen. I must hand it to my professors for delivering the grades so quickly. It's hardly been a week since the last of my exams.

"Straight A's, even in that one class I thought for sure I'd get a B in!" I cheer, my clasped hands pressed firmly to my mouth. I can't contain my smile! I'd be jumping for joy, if not for the city of people nearby who probably wouldn't appreciate the resulting earthquake.

"I'm going for a walk. Does anyone need anything?"

"We're good, Mom. Do you think you'll be out long?" My daughter asks me, cheerfully. 

The eagerness in her tone is hurtful, though she doesn't seem to realize that. Thankfully, Mark is far better at reading the room.

"That last exam was surprisingly easy." I laugh. "I almost regret studying so hard."
