Survival Skills

Animals do the things necessary for their survival because they want to, it feels right. Migrating birds head to the south because they want to go, salmon swim upstream to mate in their birthplace because it feels like the right thing to do. People do charity and help each other for the same reason. You're supposed to.

mutual hobbies

I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to learn how to properly gather nettles, how to cook them into food, and how to make nettle tea (which I had read is very healthy, also good for washing your hair). A softer world

I went to pride alone last year. I look quite young, and I guess I was seeming a bit lost, so the social worker concluded that I must be one of her babies, and gently herded me in before I had the heart to say I’m 24.

I was quite alone when I first started out at 14. I’m glad these kids don’t have to be.

An ancient animation

I found this old animation I drew somewhere around 2010 and forgot all about. I had completely forgotten I had made a lumpy fox -animation test nearly ten years before starting the comic!

Care and self-care

Sorry for the poor quality of this one, it's an older one from I was just starting out and I'm pretty sure I did something to damage it... I've posted all of the four-panelled ones on Instagram but figured I'd pepper some of the older, longer-length comics here as well, since they don't really fit Insta as a platform.

Morbid

For the longest time, he thought "You are my sunshine" is simply my favourite song since I'm always humming it. Really, it just starts playing in my head when he's around.

Cheering up

Showing him a few of the comics I've made helped a bit.

I've found that the way to make a comic is encountering something in everyday life, and  exaggerating it just enough for it to be funny. You take a real situation, a real emotion - say, wanting to cheer up a sad partner, and frutiless attempts to offer something to help that's probably not helpful - and just tune up the silly side of it.

Sound Sleeper

I give him little kisses when I shift around in bed, in case I woke him up, but instead he'll now kiss me in his sleep.

Gratitude

I didn’t actually expect anything to come of this, but I am so happy truly enjoy my work. I’ve been researching finnish folklore for a different project, and some of it has grown on me.
