Alright cat and kittens (am I right? Eff off Carol Baskin I wrote about kitties all morning I'm allowed) who will it be this month?
We had a bunch of characters requested from short stories by the Mad Post Doc folks, and it occurs to me that some of you may not have actually read all those stories since a couple are a decade old and a couple are brand-stinking new, so here's a list of where to find them, if you want to make an informed choice. Or just play whack-a-mole with the toggle b...

On Cats, Dogs, Gingers, and a Most Excellent Rack
I was with one of my best friends in Chicago for the better part of August, before the Backening, so I thought I would present to you HER denizens rather than mine. (you know this friend! Hello, beautiful Cat patrons! This is Delightful Assistant popping in to let everyone know that unfortunately, Cat's back is much worse than we thought. She's going to need quite a bit of medical care, including traction.
So, September Things will be delayed, but she has not forgotten (and neither have I, which is important because I am in charge of The Schedule)!
Please continue to contribute to the Audiography if you haven't already and the Open Discussion post is ready fo...

Moving right along with Space Oddity this month (yes, this is my monster deadline, if you were curious) and a brief note on transporters. I'm pretty proud of this one, honestly, and it was super fun to write. (PS: yes, the chapters are all still Eurovision song titles! I considered going with lyrics this time, but titles are fair game always and lyrics can get dicey so on we go. I have like nine pages of amazing titles in my research file!)

Hi everyone!
I do apologize for some essays being delayed--as far as deadlines go, August-October 2021 is pretty much the most intense period of my whole career. I am pretty much drowning in pressure and while that's not an excuse, it is rough to do everything all at once--and on top of that, I injured my dumb back about two dumb weeks ago by having the audacity to sleep after 40 like a dummy. It has not yet come right, because the toddler do not give a fuck (not true, he has "kissed it...

This month, y'all wanted to hear from the titular Mechagirl from The Melancholy of Mechagirl.
Well.
Trouble is.
I started writing the postcard in poem form, since, you know, it was a poem.
And then it kept going. And could never fit on a postcard. And is also now a full-on sequel to MoMG. Do poems have sequels? I don't know, but this one does. Ten whole-a...

I thought we'd do something fun and goofy for this month's edition of Audiography, especially as we move into August and all the summer crops are ripening and ready to MONCH.
Give me three of your favorite songs either about, involving, referencing, or otherwise tangentially related to...food!
The songs doesn't have to be about food necessarily. It could have a fruit in the title, or be from a movie with a lot of food in it like My Dinner With Andre or Chef <...

As I'm doing some housekeeping around here, I wanted to put up a fresh invite to the Discord server for new patrons or anyone who hadn't seen yet that it exists.
And not only does it exist, it's WONDERFUL. Somehow we have managed to, very smoothly, kind of recreate the internet as it was back in the mid 00s? It's kind and nice and yet still full of memes and discussion and silliness and support and occasionally analyzing, without participating in, drama from around the rest of the net.<...

What shall I review this month?
Since I was home with family for a month I have quite a few more options than usual in the "read, played, watched" categories! Once again, my judgment is in parentheses so you can see what to expect.
What's on the slab, guys?

Late Night Half-Broke Pasta Carbonaramen
I was once mostly top ramen by volume. Most of us were, unless we have had very cushy lives indeed. But this cheap af staple can be made exponentially more delicious—and only a couple of bucks more expensive—by kind of reverse-engineering the much better sauces of a nice ramen house.
You can also skip the Italian pasta part and just do this with your standard ramen for the noodles and toss in some veggies or a soft-boil...

So here’s the thing about Schitt’s Creek.
I love it. I really do. I have come around and I have all the feels about all the characters (except Roland) and have gotten so deep in the weeds with it that I won a trivia contest by being able to pull how much money Twyla won in the lottery directly out of my ass. While dressed head to toe as Moira Rose. I am all in on Schitt’s Creek. I understand the instinct we all have to beg and coax and bargain with our friends to watch it...

Who would you like to hear from this month?
Source material is in the parentheses, and remember, these options are chosen by the Mad Post Doc and up tiers each month.
Here are the choices suggested so far. Now, I want to say that any details in these will be classified as loose canons--if I were to go back and write a new Fairyland novel one day I will not hold myself precisely to what is said by A-Through-L in a postcard. I will try! But if a plot emergency comes up, ...

Last month was so amazing, you guys! We created a huge summer playlist that I'm still discovering new music from.
So here we go with the fourth theme!
In honor of my book coming out July 20th (drumroll, please):
July's Audiography Redux theme is: The Past is Red
Post up to three songs in the comments that fit the theme. This is a really open ended one - interpret it as you will.
No judgment or rules, any genre, any era, just make sure...

So I’ve been thinking about death a lot lately.
Like, a lot. More than the usual a lot, which is a lot anyway.
STRAP THE FUCK IN, COMPAÑEROS, IT’S GONNA BE A CHEERFUL ONE.
And also I just finished watching Bo Burnham’s Inside, thus I am so emotionally in ruins somebody should just put an explanatory plaque on me and start charging tourists admission.
Just @ me next time, Bo, fuck.
Well. So. And. This is the moonscape of my life.

While my friend Cylia was here, we made a terrifying amount of food together. It’s what happens when two people who love cooking on their own GET A BUDDY.
We basically cooked our way through most of Chrissy Teigen’s cookbook Cravings. And whatever you think about her as a person, she makes a mean cookbook.
But I honestly think this is what we liked the most, out of everything we baked, fried, whipped, boiled, or simmered.
As in, when we finished the two sandwich...

Well, as straight as I can be.
I’m still not quite over Eurovision being over.
WHAT a year.
It was always going to be an interesting one, but I didn’t expect it to go so hard on my heart. We had the Devil, a PUA angel, Mata Hari, Ukrainian techno-saint spring planting song with green feathers, a giant dancing middle finger, Maltese Lizzo, sad Bulgarian dirt, a radical feminist Russian icon in a massive dress-cage, Serbian Pu...
