Claire Tease Poster
I needed a short mental break from animating, so I created a teaser poster for my next loop.

4k versions of the Jill set.
I'm really satisfied with how this Jill set turned out. I still haven't played the REmakes because I was busy trying to finish these posters up. And it's late for Valentine's Day.
I've been mainly doing model work since finishing up Morrigan's animation. I've compiled a list of all the thing I needed to fix as I worked on the model plus advice from Icedev and Rigid3d. Pictures of the old version are on the left, new on the right.
Some of these fixes were already implemented by the time you got to see it in the animation.
I hadn't implemented any subdivision surface modifiers on any of the clothing. Rigid helped with that by setting edge creases on the cloth...

Alternate versions and 1080p for the Morrigan animation.
Since Morrigan only has one outfit and no extra skins from the game, I didn't have a lot of options here. The extra versions just have her stripped down.
I just managed to sneak this one out for January. I started it late in the month, so I wasn't sure if I could do it in time. The animation actually went really smoothly. I've made note of all the things I need to update for the model. The majority of fixes come down to weight painting issues for the clothes.
Rigid3D also further improved the shaders for the model.
I'm not sure how many of you are artists, or at least dabble with Blender, but I'm uploading the blend file for the Morrigan model. I've asked a few artists to help test the model as well, but I figure patreon is still good for a limited release in case anyone is interested. What better way to showcase what I've done than let you play around with model yourself?
For those who just want the update notes, I've done a whole range of shapekeys for facial expressions and lip sync since last ...
2021-01-14 22:50:29 +0000 UTC View PostThe main project I've been working on has been continuing with the Morrigan model. It's been a while since I've worked on it, and I've learned some stuff along the way to help improve the model. There's also quite a few new characters that I would like to use in Blender and working with Morrigan serves as a good warmup.
For starters, I fixed up the corrective shapekeys around her neck and shoulders. I figured out how to do this when I worked on the Cassandra model. Next, I transfe...
2021-01-08 00:35:10 +0000 UTC View PostBack at it. It was a decent enough rest. Lost power on Christmas for part of the day so that messed with plans. I was sick the day after Christmas too. My sleep schedule is still pretty fucked. It was still good to have a break though. I'm ready to work on stuff, but it's probably going to be a slow start until the new year. I just want to give you the update that I'm warming back up.
I hope everyone had a great holiday!
2020-12-30 21:26:02 +0000 UTC View PostI hope everyone has a great holiday whatever they celebrate! I'm going to take a short break for Christmas. It's a different approach than last year when I crunched almost everyday except Christmas itself to finish The Promotion and then burnt out hard. I don't feel like I deserve much of a break for all the goals that I have failed to achieve this year, but at the same time I also don't think forcing work will be any more productive. Planning and building my new PC was pretty stressful and s...

4k versions of the Miranda poster set.
This is what I have salvaged the project into.
2020-12-21 23:05:12 +0000 UTC View PostI've given the project another go, and I like it enough that I don't want to give up on it. That said, I'm salvaging it into a poster set rather than an animation. The complexity of the poses doesn't really make it easy to animate any of them, but they are really nice for posters. I've settled on my favorite four posters from the group to finish. In an ordinary project, I would say that four posters is about an equivalent amount of work to one animation. Two posters are nearly finished, and t...

I'm posting this to all patrons rather than just as a WIP because it's more of an update than anything. I don't think I've felt this stifled creatively in a while. I wanted this to be the focus animation once I got my new PC up and running, but it feels like I'm forcing it. I've worked on only this for over a week, tried and retried so many poses, and hate pretty much all of it. I've posted 6 different poses just to show you some of the madness. There's more poses and iterations that have bee...
2020-12-12 22:33:01 +0000 UTC View PostAs I mentioned on Twitter, my PC is finally up and running. Long story short, the CPU wouldn't seat in the motherboard socket properly but now it does. It took about two weeks to sort out this mess, but I should be back to work now.
Ideally, I'd like to get a couple animations out this month to make up for it. The Miranda/Batarian animation will be the priority. I haven't decided on another. Having a PC that can actually play recent games could broaden the range of things to try. I've o...
2020-12-03 21:11:07 +0000 UTC View PostPar for the course, I guess, but the PC build hasn't worked. I've ruled out as much as possible, and I'm waiting for a replacement motherboard. The PC wouldn't even turn on. Although RGB lights and USB ports seemed to work, no other components, fans, or LEDs would power on. I've tested the case power button, PSU, and GPU with my other build and they all work. The motherboard is really the only problem left. Other components could be faulty, but I can't tell when the motherboard is doing nothi...

Poster commission set with FemShep and Batarians.
First up, a PC update is in order. The last parts to my new PC are being delivered. Everything should be here next week. It's been months of research and stress. For those interested, I've gone with an RTX 3070 and a 5600x. It's not quite what I planned, but it's the best that's available. Quite frankly, it's a huge upgrade over what I have, and I'm not really upset over the money saved by not buying higher tier parts.
I'll need some time next week to put it together and make sure every...

Alternate versions and 1080p for the Claire animation.

Happy Halloween? I didn't make my personal deadline for this animation, but only by a few hours rather than a few weeks this time... After working too much on the Jill animation, I may have over corrected and started a little slow with this one. All in all though, it took about average time to make for a loop of this length.
It's also not quite the audio I was hoping for. I had to make due with the limited resources available online. Downloading the entire game on my surprisingly slow i...

I didn't mention the winner of the poll earlier. Claire won! Excella came in a surprisingly close second place. Now that I've finished up with the extra commission project for this month, I can focus on an animation with Claire. I'm gonna shoot for something much more modest around 5 seconds this time.
Of course, I say modest as I make a couple of rather frivolous posters just to announce the winner...

I wasn't entirely sure if this would be too much Resident Evil after the Jill animation, but I felt like I wanted an easier workload with models that have rigging I'm more familiar with. Rigid released Claire and Ada months ago, but I haven't had the time to really try them out. To keep with the RE theme, there is also an Excella model by Mavixtious.
Resident Evil does seem like a good fit for ...

I wouldn't normally post commission related WIPs, but since this aligns with my other goals I think it makes sense. I had already wanted to do some model work, and with a commission that required some, I decided it would be good to give it a try.
I was able to quickly re-familiarize myself with the process for head swapping models as I did with Morrigan. More importantly, I've been able to surpass it in quality too. For all the effort that went into the Jill animation, I think I really ...
2020-10-01 20:11:02 +0000 UTC View PostI initially thought up this plan a few weeks ago when I still expected the Jill animation to be complete in August. This doesn't change things much. Mostly, it messes with what I'm going to do specifically for the rest of this month, and it has also slightly changed the priority on some things.
There's basically three separate categories I'd like to break everything down into. First, I'd like to get back into modelling work. Second, I'd like to do at least one short loop every month. Th...

It's finally done! Jill is voiced by Chloe Angel. I think the animation is good, but I am not sure it was worth the 100+ hours I ended up putting into it. At the very least, I feel like I learned a lot about model editing as that took much of the effort. Feedback is appreciated.
