Rad Venture Major Update

Hey Patrons!

After updating to Unreal Engine 5.3, we've finally decided to take the huge leap in converting our game world to World Partition instead of using the legacy level streaming method.

This means that we'll be able to hold most of the game world in one map in the engine and it will hopefully help the game run better and make level traversal more seamless.

Next Build Update

Hey Patrons!

Here's a quick update on when the next build will be released.

We've been working hard and have nearly all of the game's levels greyboxed and as you've hopefully seen, we've started created the level geometry and props for Headline Street.

Youmacon is coming up in early November and we'll be participating and bringing a new build with us featuring both Shiver Swamp and a more completed Headline Street.

Headline Street - Sewer Level Geo Progress

Here's an update on Headline Street's sewer section. We've been working hard the past week to create the level geometry for it. We usually start by creating the rooms and big platforms, then going in and fleshing it out with smaller props and stuff.

Headline Street Props (So far)

We've been workin hard on getting assets made for Headline Street, so here's a look at some of the props we've made so far!

Like, half of them are black and white cuz they're only going to be featured in that level. But, others can be used elsewhere, so they're in color.

It's been an interesting challenge getting values right to make them look and read good in a black and white level.

Synergy Train Laser Room WIP

So, one of the laser traps we're trying out is a laser room, which is inspired by the laser room from Resident Evil 4.

This is just a test version of the room, but I think it can lead to some wild and frantic patterns for the player to dodge.

Synergy Train Greybox Screenshots

The high-speed Synergy Train is finally getting a greybox!

This is the 2nd boss level (similar to Synergy Silo) and will have Rad frantically platforming his way to the front of a high-speed train.

We're pulling out all the stops when it comes to designing this level and you'll need to be quick on your feet to survive.

Like the Silo's main theme bein missiles, the Train's theme is lasers, so we've got plenty of lazy traps and obstacles to dodge and weave through.

ARQ is an incredible freelance artist who's worked on many different projects, including the IDW Sonic comic!

All Levels So Far

Hey Patrons!

Just wanted to say thank you for your support so far!

As of this week, all of the main levels have been greyboxed! To celebrate, here's a few images showing all of the levels we've worked on so far, in screenshot and top-down map form!

Next month we start greyboxing the boss levels, meaning we'll return to Synergy Silo and fix some things, then start on Synergy Train and the final levels of the game.

Augmented Reality Arena

Hey Patrons!

Not sure if we shared this yet, but we decided to cut one level and instead include a new level that consists of obstacle courses and combat arenas called the "Augmented Reality Arena"!

You can find it under Webster Inc., where the lift used to be.

We have a lot of cool plans for this area. It will be split into separate sections with multiple sub-classes of levels as well as difficulties.

Ducktor Wizard Outfit

Hey Patrons!

We've got some fun stuff planned for the Dungeons and Dragons inspired level, Collectalot. One of which is giving Rad companions while he explores the level, including Ducktor and Redux, with their own classes!

Ducktor is playing as a wizard, so we gave him a neat cloak in his colors along with a spell book and magic staff!

Rad Venture Development Update

Hey Patrons!

Thought we'd update y'all on how development is going on Rad Venture.

We are almost done greyboxing all the main levels in the game! We're finishing up Collectalot and then it'll be on to boss levels. Going by our current Roadmap, we should be done with all the main level greyboxes by the end of July.

We also had to cut a level, but don't worry, cuz we're replacing it with an Arena/ Obstacle Course level taking place in Ducktor's lab!

New Level Greybox

Hey Patrons!

We've started working on the greybox for the next level, Collectalot!

Rad, Stanley, Ducktor, and Redux decide to have game night at the Vistabell Library and partake in some good ol' fashion medieval roleplaying!

Rad, Ducktor, and Redux will become miniatures on a game board as you explore the world Stanley created! Everyone will be dressed in appropriate attire for the adventure. Rad is the party's Thief, Ducktor is the Mage, and Redux is the Bard.

Page Updates - Updated Textures, Alt Outfits, and Animations

Hey Patrons!

Here's an update on Page. We've modeled two alternate outfits: Gangster and Swimmer, which will show up in Headline Street and Royal Reef Resort respectively. 

We've also updated their textures slightly, adding teal streaks on the sides of their heads.

We also added the crossbow weapons and made some attack animations for each.

New Enemy - Page

Hey Patrons!

We're FINALLY making a new enemy!

This here is Page! They're kinda like a little helper robot for Iris and Lilac. They're compared to like uhhhhh Servebots from Mega Man Legends or Eggpawns from Sonic.

They're going to have two weapons: a sword and a crossbow

They're also going to have alternate costumes depending on the level they're in, which you can see on the middle right of the concept sheet.

Royal Reef Resort - Greybox Progress

Hey Patrons!

We're working hard on the greybox for the next level, Royal Reef Resort!

For a sneak peak at the flow of the level, Rad is going to have to explore an indoor waterpark and shut off 3 generators located at the bottom of different water slides.

To reach each slide, you'll have to complete different platforming challenges to reach the slide entrance.

This level also features Rail Grinding and various other interactable gameplay objects.
