Chapter Three release - Ensign version

May I  present Chapter Three of Heavy Five for your entertainment.

I apologise in advance for the file size but I have something in place to make future releases  not dependant on loading the whole game and so this should be the last "meaty" one.

It's the "At least I beat Cyberpunk?" update...

Yep, it's here!

2,048 still images; 79 animations made up of over 9,000 renders; Guns! Girls! Gadgets! Bewbs and even sex! (I know, right? In my game? But true!) Mysteries, new lore, new characters, one hell of a scene with Chris, combat, a multitude of paths and branches and of course some truly terrible jokes.

My apologies for the absence from Patreon of late. I know, I know, it's an awful habit of mine and one that is shooting myself in the foot. But so many times in t...

It's the "One way or another..." update

Hello, and apologies for the radio silence of late which was rather enforced by circumstances.

I fried the CPU and killed the PC during the polishing work. A somewhat blunt opening but I can't really think of a better way to put it.

I've been without it for a couple of weeks (hence my complete absence from everywhere) as this one wasn't cheap. The fault is mine ofc. Not only because of the sheer punishment the PC has been taking of late (which must be, if we include r...

The "Left or Right" update...

Thank you all for the recent responses to the poll.  Given both the delay and the results, I got off my arse and worked out how to do it so you can choose (and for the system to remain stable!)

The complexity came not from having both screens but from getting it all to work with the way I have to do screen handling on this module.

It's been tested and works perfectly so...that's something at least?

It's the "Release when?" update....

Hi all.

The final version, less one module (more on this in a mo), has been out to testing since last Thursday but, as you may have guessed, despite a lot of effort, including five days solid graft, I haven't got it signed off past the QC checks.

Let's start with the good news, however. The reception of it has been positive. Massively so. The script is tighter, the game is funnier, more intriguing, and also significantly lewder than, not only the previous chapter bu...

I need your opinion!

Guys, I need your help.

On the domme path with Chris I need a GUI for your ease of use as per the example above with Becca.

What I can't decide is whether it should be on the left hand side of the screen as above or the right.

(yes I know you know what the right hand side is - it'...

I'm still tweaking Chadder's section and making it more intelligent and responsive (but more on that later) but part of this module needed some random images. I thought I'd share a few...

The "Screw it - call it 8,000..." update

Whilst I'm ensuring that nothing falls over, the render side of things is quiet so....

...I've whomped up a few further animations to supplement Chadder's domme path. Nothing complex and more arty than anything (I need to keep them simple at this stage to get them done as speed is of the essence) but I figure I may as well make the most use of the time and resources available. Besides it gives some variety down that route and solves a nagging worry that people would get bored.<...

It's the "sneaky peek" post...

I'm wary of sharing too much at this stage, especially with the release being so close, but you deserve something so....let's talk about hidden content.

Last time ofc we had Channel Seven's little show, this time I've gone for something slightly different.

As you may have picked up playing the game, the world of H5 still relies upon the use of hard copy materials a lot. Largely as a back up in case of systems going down and, ofc, paper based materials never run out of batteries - ...

It's the "7,000 renders!" update...

Seven thousand renders. In ten weeks. On one machine. Crikey...that's a lot!  But that's what I've made. I know I may not be all that good at this "being a dev" lark, especially when it comes to PR and marketing but let no one say I'm not putting the effort in. :)

Alrighties, so my moment of glory out of the way, where are we?

Well it's done. Finished. That's where. *grins*. All that's left at this stage is the remaining quality checks and bug testing. ...

The "making things shiny" update...

Hi all.

Not a massive amount to tell you other than I'm doing what I can to make everything as polished as I can for you all. Seems only fair, right? :)

Since I have some render capability at the moment as I squish bugs and check flags (Holy sweet Lord, I have a lot of flags and switches...) I decided to replace the still images of Sarah's attack and defence rounds in her VR game with small animations.

Nothing earth shattering but they add a little bit and just gene...

Sneaky peek stuff

Not that much I'm willing to share at this stage as we get closer to the game coming out but I don't see any harm in showing off the Bored Pilot covers at any rate :)

It's the "Getting close" update...

So just over seven weeks on and how are we doing?

4,500 renders made, over 40,000 words wrote, all bonus work done and sections of the game have started to be passed out to the testers is how :)

So, not too shabby for a ditz with a single machine.

Sorry for being a bit quiet of late but this is the part of the development where, not only is it a slog, but there ends up being little I can show off. Either because it's coding or corrections (which doesn't make for an...

It's the "mini-game" update

Oh boy.....Rock Paper Scissors is looking good.

...and not just looking good but looking "animated" good. Becca's choices and the consequences of if she loses, i.e. dancing and stripping each round, are all animated. I am -really- pleased with this.

"Well, that's all well and good, Notty, but I don't get the bonus stuff so why should I care?" I hear some of you saying.  That...

It's the "Shiny shoes" update...

Hi, hi :)

Nothing wildly exciting to show or report as I've been mainly script writing and running animation frames since my last update.

That said the script is largely there now, although no doubt it will get tweaked as the renders come out for it. On my writing generally, as you'd expect with a game like this, the whole story/game is ofc plotted out to the end. It would have to be. Something like H5 I can't make up on the hoof and, sadly, is why the opportunity for me to give P...

Quick update

Not much to report as an update at the mo. Mainly had my head down in writing and just saying "I typed some words!" isn't terribly exciting. That said...

As you know/suspect we get to play around and explore Ophion from the next chapter and I've been doing some scene checking to ensure that the base landscape used in Three works going forward. It does. :)

Sarah likes it at any rate.

It's the "Just a quickie" update

Hi guys, sorry for so many posts of late but just a couple of additional quick ones as I'm hitting the script in full next week and tend to go into a bit of zombie writing zone until it's finished (bouncing around inside my character's heads for the dialogue needs a lot of focus at times).

First off, the diagnostic database design is done.

It took a little while as it needs to work for those players who want to deep dive into the power problem and yet also work for those ...

A lot to cover this week, including some dry but important stuff on the matters of taxation. So...off we go.

It's the "It's an another update" update

Hi hi :)

Firstly, can I thank you all for your kind words and feedback. It's brought me great joy to see how well received the last update was. What has surprised me a little has been how much playtime some of you have managed to get out of the Chapter, with over five hours being the norm and in some cases even into double figures. Again, for a game with no repeating grind that's really not bad.

But, enough about the past let's talk about Chapter Three.

First off I've comple...

McGruder preview

Hi and I trust you're all enjoying the weekend.

A proper update in a few days but some of you will have heard Annie mention the infamous Lt. McGruder. I've received a couple of questions over whether she will actually be in the game - and the answer is a very solid yes. For some of you... a lot depends on the choices you've made and will make.

Now, McGruder I was always a little unhappy with design wise, not so much due to her physical character but due to the props available to m...

Hi Hi :)

So, after the post launch excitement, back to more regular weekly updates. Last week, perhaps understandably, I didn't do a great deal other than deal with messages etc but I did do some shopping...(and no, before some of you ask not just for ciggies and jaffa cakes).

The most obvious purchases were the new/final assets for the VR levels which I shared on Sunday. It's comforting to know that I don't have to worry about design gaps going forward. But perhaps the m...

The "Wot's next?" update.

I hope you have enjoyed Chapter Two (or indeed are still enjoying it). So far I've only had two issues reported, neither of which are of any huge consequence so I'll fix in the Chapter Three release. A slight problem on the night time map if you haven't arranged to meet anyone leading to an odd graphical quirk and the intermission screen sometimes being missed if the player clicks too often or too quickly at the credits page.

The former I'll fix by just dropping the empty...
