It's the overexcited midweek update!

I know, I know. I don't post for ages and then I end up being a pest - but, this is exciting! Well I thought so, at any rate. :)

So! The power plant. The old original one was awful but I reworked it back in October and it was OK. Much better at any rate. 

Anyhoo, so I'm playing around with the new plant repair mechanics and I decided I wasn't that happy with the rejigged plant room as it didn't really give me the options I wanted for you to explore - so I redid it! Again. Yep...

D Force!

Whenever I say that, I can't help but find the theme music to "He-man" pops into my head...

But I digress. In moaning away at my problems last week I forgot to mention successes. And to these I would add that now I have some "oomph" in the PC I can also use D Force. And I love it.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with what D Force is, it essentially allows me to get fabrics and material to act naturally with gravity etc.

Good grief! It's a weekly update!

It is indeed! Well new year, new habits and all that, no?

Actually, having fouled up horribly in November by not doing  updates, even if those updates would have been rather dull ("Still rendering!"), I've decided to learn my lesson and do a once a weeker regardless.

Naturally, I haven't a lot to say in respect of what I've done on Chapter Two so far so instead I'll tell you what I'm going to do this week instead. It'll be interesting at least to see what I manage to achieve ...

Remaster mission report

(aka "Just what the chuffing heck went wrong?")

First off it's worth noting that the time spent October onwards wasn't just on Chapter One (thank God!). Before I even started work on One the real work went into redesigning all of the locations and reskinning all of the characters. With over twenty characters and over forty locations this took, as you can image, some time. But I wanted to have everything nailed down from the start. Largely this went quite well but it di...

Chapter One remaster... is released!

Guys, sorry for the silence, I swear remaking the Vanguard to Hi-Def damned near came close to killing me.

However! It is done! And it looks...lovely. I'll do a full mission report on the past month or so in a separate post in a day or so but for now please enjoy.

It's four times the render size of the original (and at a smaller download size!) and now includes more paths, more game play, animations and....

... the ability to choose your characters gender and skin colour, wh...

They're not terribly well posed as they were really to see just what the new machine could do, but I thought I'd share just to show you how far I've come in the past month or so.

Sorry for the recent batch of quietness. Partly due to RL work and partly as I didn't have anything really new to say other than....I'm working on it still. But news!

Almost there...

Hi hi.

Just a quick note. I was hoping to get One out yesterday but I'm still missing a few renders. Having set them all to batch render over the weekend I have some 330  in the bag but I'm around 80 short. Although the majority of One's renders come out quite quickly on occasion I still find some of the more detailed ones are taking longer than I planned. 

During the remaster testing I did the average was around 15-20 minutes for One renders but on occasion I'm finding ...

Thinking of a way to say thank you...

Y'see I can get my girls made into actual figures by the wonders of 3d printing. 

Still trying to get my head around the logistics of how to get it delivered if I went ahead with it (especially the privacy aspects from your side) but I'm intrigued by the idea of having a draw of patron names out of the hat for those who have ...

Might be Sunday for Chapter One but more likely Mon/Tue as I need to make sure the animations run smooth and get some music for them etc. Will totes shush now until One is released. But it's close :D

Chapter Four animations

Well, Sarah seems pleased that we have them. Then again, I haven't actually told her what some of those animations might involve...

Anyhoo...... I'm going to be quiet for the next few days as I and the hamster just focus on chapter completion now. However, there is one thing that I am mulling over which is, as the header says, the animations for Chapter Four.

I have six adult scenes in that chapter and, realistically, I can't animate them all - well I could, but that would delay F...

Short version

By a whole series of cheats, cuts and plain good luck in faffing with things I'm able to add high quality animations at a minimal file size. Not hugely important for One or Three but there was -that- scene in Two plus there are a whole bunch of adult scenes in Four that will now hugely benefit as instead of the still images I had done, I can now add to them a...

To Discord or not Discord?

I'm not a fan of it, I'll confess.

Largely due to the logistics in that being a brit I suspect I'm on a totally different timezone to a lot of you, add to that the rather more "live" nature of it than, say, a forum and it could be a recipe for disaster.

However, recipes for disaster are rather my stock in trade, so...

So you know how I can't do animations...

As some of you know I've tried animations before, both using Renpy frame by frame (which wasn't great...) and also by trying full video which damn near broke me over the file size. (a single video ani was coming out to a quarter of the existing game size).

But since I'm in remastering goddess mode I thought one last try before I fully gave up on this until I had more powah....

Let's talk about Amanda...

One of the things I've been trying to do during the remastering is keeping the characters as much the same as possible even when giving them new detailed skins etc. On the whole I've done pretty well and you shouldn't at any point go "Who the hell is that?" with chars looking the same mid to long range, then having extra detail up close.

The only one I've failed ever so slightly on was Walker.
