Savind and Sharing Morphs for DAZ Characters

Here's a quick Early Access treat for ya'll, in which I'll show you how to save a morph you've created for a DAZ character, and I'll explain where it's stored so that you can safely share it with the world.

Enjoy!

Sneak Peek at DAZ Studio 4.12 - Scene Files

As promised, here are the scene files I've created in this week's 3D Shenanigans stream. You can watch it here: (I'll add the URL as soon as YouTube give it to me).

In total I've included three files:

  • IK Prep.duf - that's just the cylinders in a row, unrigged
  • IK Rigged.duf - same cylinders, but with IK applied. It even works in 4.11
  • Timeline Demo.duf - the cube with applied variations of interpolation (if that makes sense)

If you have any new di...

In this quick tip I'll show you a neat trick to enter the same value into multiple text fields in Blender. Works for keyboard input as well as using the mouse to adjust multiple sliders.

As always, enjoy!

Smooth Dollying in Blender

This is a new format I'm launching on my channel, a sub-5 minute quick tutorial that's somewhere between an animated GIF and an out-of-context tip. I've recorded three of these so far, and wanted to share them with you. Here's the first one, about smooth dollying in Blender.

Let me know what you think of this new format. Should these have a recognisable thumbnail? Should they go on a separate channel?

Going Shopping - Scene Files + 4k Render

Here are the scene files for Friday's Clothing Boutique stream. I've included both the prep version and the stream version for your enjoyment. I've tried fixing Tamara's expression but had much better luck during the scene's preparation. You can watch the stream on YouTube or on Vimeo.

Aside from the scene files, I've also included the two renders that...

Dancing Chewie - Hairy Animation Scene Files

Please find attached the Carrara scene files for the recent "hairy animations", the latest of which we've built in this Building the Fluffy Disco Kimokawaii stream. In it, Alien P and David have suggested the colours for the fluffy thing above. To make it a handsome looking clip, I've added the animated clouds and slightly changed the camera positions.

In total you're getting several files:

Strand Based Hair / Glitter Ball - Scene Files

Please find attached the latest assets from the Strand Based Hair Stream. I've embedded the Glitter Ball video above, which I'm showing in the beginning. You can watch the full stream here

In the file below you'll find both of those terrible hair props we've made (pre and post simulation), as well as the file for the above Glitter Ball. The latter is entirely made with primitives and default shaders, so should w...

Noise Assets (Video, Audio and Stills)

Here's a compilation of the Noise Assets I've been proposing for so long. The attached ZIP file contains a VHS-style video track, an audio file of noise with bleed-through voices and songs, and some stills you can use in all your creative productions. Add a little kaputtness to your productions and stand out from the jungle of things that are "too perfect" .

Commercial use is allowed and encouraged :-)

Andromeda Animation - Scene Files

Here are the scene files for everything we've generated before and during the stream from yesterday. Since it came out so well, I've re-rendered the animation we've built in 1920x1080 with 1000 iterations per frame. I felt it was a little fast, so I had DAZ Studio render this in 60fps and imported it into Photoshop at 30fps, thereby slowing it down a little. It adds to the space walk effect :-)

The attached ZIP file include the following:

Sunset Stream - Scene Files for DAZ Studio

Here are the scene files for last week's Sunset Stream (3D Shenanigans #17) - you can watch it above or on YouTube

I've included both versions: the "prep" version I made for the thumbnail, and the "stream" version I'm making during the video. Even if you don't own the products I'm using, it'll allow you to examine every dial's parameter to create the effects in your own scene.

Happy rendering :-)

Animated Fog Overlay (HD Version)

As promised in my live stream from last week, here's the HD version of an animated fog overlay I've built in last week's live stream. This version is one minute long, in 1920x1080 at 30fps. Commercial use is permitted.

I've also included a couple of PNG stills from this video, in case you don't need the animation. Both the video and the PNG have transparency, so you can easily overlay them with your favourite editor or...

Jay plays SUBNAUTICA (6)

I thought I'd start notifications for my live streams here, in addition to the regular YouTube notifications. I hear those can be fickle. Patreon notifications are fairly reliable in the mobile app, so whenever I go live, I'll let you know here a little ahead of time.

So for today, come dive into the Jellyshroom Caves with me! Let's see what we can find, today at 10am EST (in about half an hour from now). http:/...

ezcap261: 1080p 60fps capture for $80? Really?

I've just finished editing a new video this morning that I wanted to share with you, a few days earlier than the general public will get it. Here's what I've been up to over the last 30 days. It's been highly productive, even though what I have achieved was not quite in line with what I had set out to do. It's always interesting for me to see how unpredictable creativity is.

SUPER SURVIVOR - The Podcast Tales

Dolly Zoom / Vertigo Shot - made with DAZ Studio

I've just finished recording two new DAZ Studio episodes, in which I'll explain how to create this animation. It's a Dolly Zoom, also known as Vertigo Shot or Jaws Shot, because both Alfred Hitchcock and Steven Spielberg have used them for dramatic effect in their respective movies (among many other film makers).

September has been an incredibly productive month for me, and I'm excited by the fact that I'm not exhausted as a result. September felt as busy as this post reads, but it didn't feel as if I had to compromise on quality or that all important "me time". In a nutshell: I feel like I'm "in the flow".

Let's take a look at what I've created over the last 30 days.

Created in August 2018

This August, I've created 9 tech articles, uploaded 16 videos, narrated and edited my book BROKEN BOWELS (twice), created/revived five podcast feeds, created logos for them, overhauled one of my websites, and took on a part-time job with Instacart.

It was a very busy month, and a lot has happened. Looking back over this extensive log entry alone, it baffles me somewhat...

I'm nearly finished, and provided ACX, Audible, Amazon and iTunes are happy with the files, I'm expecting it to be released sometime in August.

Audio Books are are becoming very popular, and I can imagine that fellow patients could pass the time lis...

I'm giving you a choice of two direct download options, one will work on Kindle devices (including the Kindle App for iOS and Android), the other on most other readers and tablet devices.

Created in June 2018

Last month I've been flat out writing the last chapters of my book "BROKEN BOWELS - Tales of a Super Survivor".

In total I've written a whopping 109.944 words in June.

Not all of them made it into the final cut mind you, which by the way has an astonishing word count of over 132.000. That's nearly three times as much as I had originally set out to write.

This month I've decided to start this list at the beginning of the month and add to it as I go along, rather than trying to retrace what I've been doing (like I did last month). The latter approach takes forever and is prone to losing something I did in the process.

Starting this list early means I can easily add to it, and even schedule the date of publication. It works great both for scheduling as well as a victory log.
