Slow October

Hello Patrons!

Just wanted to stop in a say this will continue to be a bit of a slow month for fresh art, as I had Catalyst call in finals on some critical Battletech assignments. Somewhere into next month those will be done though, and that signals pretty much all of my client work being off the table, meaning way more patreon focused art time :)

Udzima Military Hub WIP

Time for another sketch. This one will end up going into my book, and I'll likely add in some background detailing to the piece to make it a full page sketch.

Elemental Diya

Hello patrons! New art for you guys today.

I always enjoyed how a few of my old armor studies came out using a particular process, so I went about it that way again. Had fun with this one.

Nayora Sharp (considering changing that name) wearing her Elemental armor Diya. Likes to utilize an extra set of arms formed from friction shielding. Along with that comes strong ion/lightning attacks, and a pair of big revolvers :)

Layout Tinkering

Hello fans!

Today I got myself reacquainted with InDesign and delved into the files my layout guy had worked on for me. I made a few tweaks to the master pages and tested out building in a few more unit pages. Nothing pretty yet, but I'm getting the hang of it.

I don't want to jump the gun and say I'm back into full layout progress yet, but it's on the horizon finally.

Mountain Colonies Refined

Between some remaining Battletech work I polished this up a bit more. Feeling good about it where it is, without jumping into color.

This type of colony setup could be built upon precious resources located underground, or could be in an ideal location to seed better atmosphere. Maybe the current plant life wasn't there when they landed, etc.

Youshu Landing Complete!

Phew! I looked back at my old files and I've been working away at this piece for a bit over a year, but it's finally finished!

Apologies about last month patrons. I picked up a "side job" (turned into a full time job) working freight, and in the transition missed an update.

Need a Hand?

Finally back in action! Here's a sketch for you guys.

I have this idea pass through my head every once in a while, so tonight I decided to put it to the canvas.

Imagine having a little arm buddy that can help support you. Drop the mag from your empty rifle and it speed loads a fresh one without you having to break posture. It could even draw and fire your sidearm, or apply basic first aid if you go down.

And of course, can give you a high five.

Another WIP Shot

Been a while since I first started this piece off. Decided to sit down to it tonight and chip away a little.

This state of progress shows a bit of how I handle background work these days. I start with some rough brush work for basic values and color, then over that I use photo sources (applying a highpass filter to each photo turns them into a nice texture overlay). Two Book Sketches

Here are two sketches that are going into the book, mostly done months ago, but touched up tonight for layout. The mech especially got a bit more polish than required, as I like the design (maybe a miniature of it one day?).

With these ready I'll be posting a PDF book update soon, including a new font size test for feedback. I'm going to check over all your pledge totals again so that anyone who has accumulated enough to qualify for book access can be added to the recipient list.
