When I'm drawing a portrait I start with the eyes, they have to be as close as possible to the model; but when I'm coloring, I leave the eyes for last, since they affect my perception of the face, once the eyes go on the likeness is there, and any mistakes I make are going to be more difficult to acknowledge and correct, so I try to get the likeness without the eyes first, so I know the features are right... the hair goes last cause is a lot of repetitive steps and is annoying π€£π€£

I always work on the neck and face first and then move on to the body, I feel like they have to match since they're next to each other, unlike the chest or the stomach, I'm not super concern to match the further parts of the body, Also a bit of variation on the skin tone makes it look more natural, but the neck has to match or it looks like when you put the wrong head on a doll π

I tried to keep the mustache simple, since I tend to over render facial hair, and I really like how it looks, I use the same technique with the eyebrows since they're so big. Oh and notice the gray hue in the bottom half of the face, kind of mimicking the 5 o'clock shadow.

Mr. Selleck has such an interesting face: dimples, pointy chin, crooked nose, high cheekbones and wide jaw (usually handsome faces have one or the other) round eyes (and pretty) thick lips and thicker facial hair... I thought it was going to be more difficult, but apparently, the more structured the face, the easier is to render. π

Have you noticed that Tom Selleck and Jason Momoa kinda look alike? the eyes and eyebrows especially, and they both have that snarky smile... IDK sometimes when I'm drawing I find these weird similarities π

I'm starting to love the way body hair looks in the Line art, makes me wanna push it even further, it always gets a lot more subtle in the colored version.

The fun thing about this file is the 3 different swimsuits in separate layers that you can turn on and off π
, and a bunch of adjustment layers to get the perfect color balance.

Another thing that I feel is very 90's is the classic Red Speedo, but that's more Baywatch than Magnum... anyways I kept it as an alternative version.

Was it a 90's thing? I think the trend is coming back so maybe I'll get one lol

So I wanted to give this illustration a very retro vibe, some of my favorite Adult Magazines have this late 80' s early 90's design, and of course I bulked Mr. Selleck a little but is part of the fantasy, what do you think of the tan? looks retro right?

As a kid I remember watching Magnum P.I. (re-runs) with my mom and she would always comment on how hot Tom Selleck is... honestly, it went over my head for a long time, I didn't see it lol. But recently I've found some old photos and even watch a couple of episodes and damn! it really fueled my imagination, I had to give it a try and practice on the body hair technique.
As always thank you for your support and I wish you all a lovely day πππ

Since I have a long to do list of various characters and portraits, I'm not making the Justice League series all at once, I'll be adding characters very slowly until eventually is completed, if you want to help me decide the next one go vote on this month's poll π

They supposed to be fur textured brushes but they look more like ostrich feathers to me, I've have used them to paint grass and scrub on some backgrounds, but my favorites are the soft round brushes, I use those all the time, very good for that polished, blended look that I like so much on the skin.... I've gathered them over the years and now I'm passing them to you, use them wisely ππ

the Final file was very simple, I remember my old PC not being able to handle it, so I had to merge a lot of layers together... And is surprisingly clean, considering that I didn't plan to show it to anyoneπ€£π€£π€£

Looking back, I think the lines are too thin for such a large portrait, it looks nice and polished, but it looses a bit of impact when you look at it from the distance π€π€π€

Just to show off the amount of details I posted this close ups like 3 times π
not a lot of people cared, MΓ€nnlich means masculine, this unknown model gives me such a straight dude energy, without been necessarily sexy, this was more of a real study than an erotic work.

This throwback is from March 2018, based on the fine work of Russian Photographer Sergey Vofoto, at the time I was obsessed with this type of lighting, it seemed so difficult for me, but eventually I got there, not sure how, but I did lol π
fun fact: I spent more time on the hair and beard than anything else.

I really like this pose cause the arms make sense right away, some muscles are not very easy to understand in different positions but this looks right and anatomically correct and surprisingly quick to color.

I think Jason is half Hawaiian so his tan is very golden and has a slight sepia tone to it, unlike Caucasian skin that goes more to the orange/rosie side when tanned; so I kept it very monochromatic until the very end, then I went back and added a few color variations for realism.

I was happy to add so much details in the Inking step, cause I didn't have to elaborate that much during coloring. Also, I tried to deal with the beard and the hair in the same way or it looks weird, and if I make one too detailed, I have to make the other one match... so I kept it a little simpler than I'm used to.

I secretly love full beards cause they make coloring the face so much faster, of course coloring all that hair will take way longer than a clean shaved face π

This illustration relies heavily on the coloring and textures, so the lines are a bit simple and straightforward we have the background, the subject and the tattoos, so is clean and simple π

The last image shows the cutout of the water effects, first I planned how it would be placed and then added all the color and textures... figuring it out on the way.
