I rarely get to render water in my illustrations, so when planning this Mermay piece I was the most excited about adding this effect, you can still see through it... but not really lol 

I hope you like this fanart. Aquaman has always been one of my fictional crushes, and Jason Momoa takes that to another level, definitely the best casting decision ever, it wasn't easy to get all those tattoos right, in the movie they're not that consistent and that body kept distracting me 😅😅...

Chief Hopper Commission NSFW

Such a departure from my traditional subjects, this became one of my favorites real fast... I think I'm not afraid of drawing body hair anymore and the dad-bod really boosted my imagination lol and the client loved him so I'm happy!

I'm still working on commissions and the rewards for next month, so I'm taking next Tuesday off, I'll be back in May with an awesome Mermay surprise!!

Once again, the highlights bring everything to life, and when the mustache goes on BAM! it looks just like him, cause yeah, I still had my doubts 😅😅😅

In the show they lean in a little harder with the dark circles and rough look, so it was a little of putting at first, but as I continued to blend and add more shading it starts to make sense, I won't lie, I did had to go back a couple of times to fix the eye bags, but they look good in the final version.

This month's figurine is a portrait of Eddie Eduardo (gingereddie) my favorite ginger ever, he's cute, muscular and a real nice guy, like many redheads he's covered in freckles, so here I'm trying this new way to make freckles with the halftone effect... looks kinda cute, I think 😅

Lion-O Lineart

So in the 80's a leotard was good enough to fight monsters, I always described it like a Roman soldier meets Space Stripper, you know like powerful but exposed.

Since I didn't want to have some fur texture all over the body (not really my style) I created some furry areas from the early stages to imply that he's hairy all over like I would do with an actual Lion... I think it works 😜

Lord Lion-O of Thundera

Hello friends, I hope you're safe and ready for a new Illustration, Is kinda of hard to stay positive during challenging times but I'll do my best to keep you inspired. This month I present to you my version of Lion-O from the Thundercats Animated series.

I took inspiration from the original 1980's cartoon and the Sideshow's collectible figure. The Claw Shield ended up looking like the Infinity Gauntlet lol, But I think it goes well with the armor. The armband could be a gift from Panth...

I used to watch Thundercats every Saturday morning while eating Froot-Loops in the living room, I loved the animation style and how "anatomically correct" was the character design.

Back in the day I was convinced that I should have the minimum amount of lines on the face, I wanted to create all the features with color only... The result is a very strange looking drawing, and because of the beard being added later, half of his face is empty lol... anyway, you live and you learn.

Now this is a different one, I didn't merge the adjustment layers back then and the file was LARGE but I merged the background so I can show this to you, the final adjustments are very important too.

This is an example of the layers I create as I go, I separate individually some muscle groups to shade them individually, not all the way tho... At the end I go back to adjust the overall feel of the body with more shadows and highlights.

so I struggled to find a lot of progress shot of this one, it was such a long process that I probably just didn't care about documenting the steps, But you can see some examples of the separation of the muscle groups and the kinda strange beard treatment I was doing back then 😅😅
