“Many Doves will be born. So much so that the Amalgam will never remember every face and every name. What is the loss of a Dove that has lost its feathers? A Dove that can no longer fly? A diseased dog, that has been given a cure, only to spit it out and bite the hand of its practitioner, ought to be put down. Do you not agree?”
“Is this how Act X swindles people? You loaded that question. If you weren’t what you are, then I’d put you down myself.”

Res crunched the numbers in her head.
I destroyed two. Each leg segment has 12,500 HP. Its DEF is at just 1,000 for both ATT and MAG ATT. I can hit three times as much as that. So how come it seems like I’m doing much less damage? Could its RESIST be working against electric-based attacks? I doubt it. It might be the same reason why its light is invulnerable.
She’d have to resort to melee once her MP had run out. She could not solely focus on shooting them down either...

Res smiled to herself as the swirls were absorbed into her body, forming paint splats along her apparel.
Total silence befell the army within a hundred-meter vicinity. Every Missionary in their ranks had been dismantled in an instant. The Exarchs had all but been disabled due to her long-range attacks.
They had nothing but the Heralds and their Scripts to guide them. The Script demanded they hunt the twins. It did not describe what to do between. So when they were faced with an in...

Act X’s forces swelled in size after reinforcements arrived through the leg of the Milinid. The remaining 2,000 became 8,000. The number was still much too low to be considered a threat.
However, Res was the only one capable of preserving the life of the Acolytes. Acedia and the Mimic of Amalgamation focused solely on incapacitation. Unlike the Hired Arm, neither could use any of Frost’s Skills, so they could not use [Starlight Barrier] as a platform to lift the injured or use Heali...

Glitter fell from the sky.
It had no origin.
It materialized from thin air and fell like the ashes of a volcanic winter. They dissolved into motes of string as they touched the earth. A beautiful, four-winged entity stood in the distance. She stood over 3 meters tall and possessed six elegant arms that were draped in a hauntingly pale dress.
Fluffy mounds of light blue fur grew from her shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, and other bony protrusions. A scarf made from the same ...

Suddenly, an array of colorful swirls that were textured like brushstrokes appeared thirty meters in the air. They began spinning like sawblades, and they were shortly thrown into Act X’s ranks. The colorful sawblades shredded countless legs before disintegrating.

Five thousand Acolytes marched into battle knowing well they were no more than cannon fodder. They were the kind to die and smile as the boots of a superior trampled over their body. As long they contributed, however miniscule, to the cause then they were satisfied.
It was, after all, their purpose.
Five thousand were considered a small army. Small armies in Elysia were between 5,000 – 10,000 soldiers strong. An intermediate army of a run of the mill nation could have a...

The return to reality left them nauseous. Joy instantly heaved and clasped onto the closest person, her chin dribbling with bile. The group suddenly appeared in the center of an enormous stage.
It resembled a stadium. The marble floor was excessively large and staggered, with various platforms and ledges scattered throughout the stage. Others were held in the air with strings, and further beyond the stage – which was easily ten kilometers long – were the recessed seating areas meant...

Raoul was taken aback.
That was a Mother Black Bird, a powerful Phenom of Contempt and one of the few creatures that surpassed the level 140 limit. Their beaks were known to crush metal armor like the shell of a peanut, and their talons could send a claw-like aberration that could level an entire street.
They were also documented to be the cause of various freak storms across Emvita over a hundred years ago, thanks to their powerful wingbeats. A squad of Black Birds was enough to ...

The fog that shrouded the world behind Raoul and the others disappeared when the twins finally joined them. Orth and Thras didn’t utter a single word about their dream. The two idly stood a meter away from Raoul and gazed off into the horizon with vacant eyes.
Raoul didn’t dare ask what they saw. She knew how to keep to himself. How a single memory was enough to send one spiraling into despair. If he was smart, then she wouldn’t even acknowledge them.
Res gave him a scrutini...

The floating landmass split into two halves.
The half they were on started to tilt to the side, sending chunks of rock rolling down into the sea. They were so far up that it was impossible to witness the surface of the sea break. It simply vanished, swallowed by the sea.
Frost used [Shortform Warp] with Jury still cradled in her arms. They reached the top of the sliding half and leaped to the other side. Cracks formed beneath her feet, and she came to realize that they were breaki...

The end of the dream did not return them to the real world. A long, somber silence stretched for what felt like hours as Jury revealed her encounter with another Archetype. Evelyn, the Archetype of Attachment, and Michaela’s 2nd Apostle.
The two hadn’t moved from their place as chunks of the cocoon endlessly fell from the amalgamation of gears above. Cer stood around beside them, kicking debris as she listened to Jury’s recount, all the while eyeing distant, poised strings.

Cold.
The first thought that came to Jury’s mind when she regained control over her body was that it was cold. The absence of warmth and the darkness surrounding her took her back to a place she had once called home.
The Black Forest. That starless place’s misery returned to her as she tried to feel out the darkness. Hands reached into the unknown, clasping at air as a choked voice called out for the one person she wanted to see the most.
“Frost!”

She did not believe a Beholder, even in their prime, could hold a candle to a Glimmer. Thinking about it now, Beholders carried technology from a Star, unlike Glimmers which possessed Gifts of their own.
It was an oversimplification. Jury ...

Blood spilled down her chin. She followed the trail, finding a hideously twisted spear had skewered her. Another impaled her right thigh, her left arm, and then, her stomach.
The spears ceased abruptly. A silent scream rang from within the recesses of her mind, muted by her lust to judge Frost for what she was. She lunged forward, and with the heel of her boot, slammed the rod embedded in her chest deeper.
