The Lycanthrope Club - An American Werewolf in Japan, Chapter XV

Despite everything that had happened to her - being shot, transforming into a werewolf, being shot again, fighting Yakuza, traveling to Tokyo and fighting Yakuza again - Junko could not help but grimace with unease as she gazed up at the brightly lit edifice across the street. This was a different kind of challenge.

"Seriously?" she said, looking over at Masae, who had also been staring at the building.

"Yes, seriously," said Masae. Like Junko, she had donned her school unif...

The two ambulance drivers carefully lifted agent Ito. The agent had been strapped into a stretcher, bandaged and fitted with a respirator but was fully awake and looked more confused than anything else. Nevertheless he laid there patiently as the drivers slid him into the vehicle and shut the door. Junko and Masae watched silently from the steps of the porch. Apart from the ambulance there were four other vehicles parked along the road adjoining the house - two police cars and two slick black...

***I DID NOT DRAW THIS***

Illustration of Junko Hayashi from The Lycanthrope Club: An American Werewolf in Japan courtesy of Chris Sealy. It seems that young Junko has gone full ninja. Is she infiltrating a criminal compound? Is she assassinating a brutal military dictator? Or maybe's she's just cosplaying.

The Lycanthrope Club - First Night

Author's Note: This story directly follows The Lycanthrope Club: Book II. It recounts Melinda and Phillip's rendezvous in the Pinebrook Nature Preserve on Phillip's first night as a werewolf. Until now it has only been available on print editions or full-color PDF editions of Book II. It is now available to Patreons here.

It gets a little...R-rated at places but nothing you couldn't get away with on HBO. Enjoy! View Post

The Lycanthrope Club - An American Werewolf in Japan, Chapter XIII

Junko gazed impassively down at the pile of splintered boards and groaning bodies through the haze of dust. Somewhat to her surprise, two of the yakuza promptly rose to their feet and half-ran half-stumbled out of the house through the door leading to the back yard. Another, after dislodging his foot from wooden beam, took a single, shaking step towards the front door and then stopped when he saw Junko standing in his way. He uttered a soft whimper, turned and limped off, following his comrad...

Masae's grandmother approached the front door with trepidation; she wasn't expecting any visitors and whoever was there was knocking frantically and noisily. She gripped the knob, cracked it open and peered through.

"Grandmother!"

Masae was at the doorstep with a pleading look on her face. She was supporting someone by the shoulder.

"Masae-chan?" she said, opening the door all the way.

Junko, Taro and the security agent were there with her. All of them were red-f...

Gregory McCloud sprinted down the unlit corridor. He could barely see where he was going but didn't dare slow down. He caught glimpses of classrooms, lockers and notice boards on either side as he ran but paid them no heed. He had to get out. The hallway ahead suddenly ended in a T-intersection. Greg skidded to a ne...

2019 Story Request - The Lycanthrope Club: The Interview

"Well, I hope this is what you meant by message, and I guess I'll take this opportunity to request something I've proposed at other points in time - the story of the creation of the US military's first werewolf unit. I imagine the startings of such would be very interesting. If you do follow this suggestion, something worth keeping in mind is that if anyone got cold feet before conversion, the military probably be able to let them leave the program - after all, if someone tried to claim t...

Accepting Requests from Patrons!

Dear Patrons,

As a bonus reward to all of you for your support I will be accepting story requests!

Message me a synopsis for a short story and if I feel it has merit I'll write it and post it here, free of charge! Ideally, the stories should be self-contained narratives in the 2,000-4,000 word range. The plot can be about anything, but I do not generally write anything too smutty or something that just panders to a fetish (at least not intentionally). That's not say I'll shy away ...

Masae silently regarded the headstone. It was a simple rectangular column no more than a meter high made of dark speckled granite set on a stone base. Characters were chiseled on the column's weathered surface - the name of Masae's grandfather, his date of birth and his date of death. Masae's gaze drifted downwards, noting the dirt that had accumulated on the north face of the headstone and the empty flower vases below. She slowly lifted the long-handled ladle from the wooden bucket at her fe...

TransTravels - A Short Story

Adrian scowled as he scrolled down the list of vacation packages. Each one had an accompanying image, brief blurb describing the destination and lodgings and, regrettably, the price. He clicked the 'next' icon on the bottom of the screen but nothing happened. Adrian blinked in surprise then realized he had reached the end of the list. Again. Issuing a sound somewhere between a groan and a sigh Adrian closed the website and found himself staring at the Google homepage.

"Goddammit," he mu...

Like most large cities Tokyo was not homogenous. It was vast, yes - one of the biggest metropolitan areas on the planet, and the most populous - but when the average non-native thought of Tokyo they would envision one or two famous or panoramic districts such as Minato or Shibuya. Yet Tokyo was a city of many parts, many wards and many neighborhoods, not all of them glamorous or even that densely populated. This point was hammered home to Junko as she walked along the street in western Tokyo....

Hajime absently tapped the smoldering tip of his cigarette on the ashtray. A few errant cinders bounced and briefly flared on its grimy ceramic surface. He then raised the cigarette to his thin lips and took a long drag. All the while his gaze remained fixed on the pair of monitors sitting on the desk before him. Their dull grey glow was the only thing illuminating the cramped and windowless office. Tiny, faint reflections of the screens could be seen Hajime's sunken, bloodshot eyes.  View Post

Slight Delay to this month's chapter

I lost a full day of writing to a nasty migraine and another helping out an old work friend so the next chapter of An American Werewolf in Japan won't be up tonight. I should have it wrapped up by Saturday (2nd of February).

I may post a patron exclusive mea culpa illustration commission this month to make up for the delay. In fact, are there any illustrations you - my patrons - would like to see?

Thanks again for your support! I really appreciate it.

This is a work in progress. Additional updates will feature new rules, fixes, clarifications and fluff.

Junko quietly passed through the main building doors and slowly walked down the short concrete steps leading up to the school. Other students were leaving as well but not many, certainly not enough to constitute a crowd; every five or six seconds a student or perhaps a pair of students would emerge from building and walk off. One quality they all shared, apart from their school uniforms, was fatigue. Their eyes were sunken and dull, their gait slow and sluggish. Nearly all were silent; those ...

Junko tore the plastic wrap off yet another polystyrene tray and swallowed its contents, not even pausing to read the label; it was meat, and that was what mattered. Given a choice Junko would usually pick sweet over savory but now she'd trade a thousand parfaits for a roasted chicken. Licking her lips, she reached over to grab another package from the backpack. As she pulled it out she noticed it was her last tray. Shrugging, she ripped the wrapping off and gobbled the glistening cuts of pink f...

Junko idly wondered what time it was as she and Masae made their way up the hill. She reached down for her coat pocket only to realize she wasn't wearing her coat. Or anything at all apart from Taro's long sleeve shirt, which was currently wrapped around her furry hips. Sighing, she peered up at the sky through the swaying branches and caught sight of the full moon. A small smile formed on her lips as she gazed at the glowing pale sphere. There was something oddly comforting about the moon now. ...

Consciousness returned to Junko in fragments. She became aware, in a vague, abstract manner that she was lying somewhere. She couldn't be in bed or even her room; the surface was too hard, its texture unfamiliar. She shifted her body and felt something soft, almost plush press against her shoulder and hips. Perhaps she was in bed after all. Junko turned her head and opened her eyes to check the time. Instead of the dimly glowing digits of her bedside clock she was met with the sight of a worn wo...
