Swamp Bivouac, Expert

I'm back! This is the Swamp Bivouac (25x30), a little campfire in the swamp that'll be perfect for battling bugs and swamp critters of all sizes. Personally I'm a fan of oozes, so I'd hide all kinds of them in the water for your players to accidentally stumble upon, maybe even sneaking up on them while they camp. Yucky and effective! Otherwise, I think you can never go wrong with roving swarms of bugs to fill in combats in the swamp, perhaps indiscriminately attacking warm-blooded enemies as ...

Twisting Path

Hello again, everyone! This week's map is the Twisting Path (11x16), a mini forest map with hilly, rocky terrain for your players to scramble over. As always, I like to imagine a creature standing at the top of the hill chucking projectiles down onto the players as they climb, but considering the scale of the map (which is the size of 2 sheets of printer paper if you've forgotten) I'd think the combat might not be an arch mage throwing down meteors. Instead, maybe this one is more on the scal...

Twisting Path, Adept

I'm back again with a new one, the Twisting Path (11x16), a small forest map with a single winding path among craggy ledges, perfect cover for small creatures trying to climb without being seen. And, with that in mind, your alternate version of this map features Fey colors instead of my typical forest palette, prompting magical encounters with fey enemies in these woods. Or, you know, wolves or spiders, those are good too.

Twisting Path, Expert

Hello once again, everyone- this week's map is the Twisting Path (11x16), a classic forest map in miniature. One of the nice things about making these little maps is that I can focus in on the finer details and give each area closer attention. Looking back at my old maps, there were huge chunks that were just about empty, just grass or a few scattered rocks. I think these maps were large for the sake of being large, they could have been a fraction of the size just as easily considering how ma...

Icy Crevasse

This week's mini-map is the Icy Crevasse (16x11), another snowy one for you. This one is a small, frozen cave, or maybe a crack in the ice that your players have fallen down into, fortunately landing here onto this level instead of falling even further.

I tried to draw the two exits of the cave to look a little ambiguous as to whether they're actual exits or just terminate off screen, so hopefully you won't feel like you have to build off of this one in either direction if you don't wa...

Icy Crevasse, Adept

Welcome back, Adepts- this is the Icy Crevasse (16x11), my next mini-map! This one features a small cave with a massively dangerous crack down the center, but due to the scale you probably won't have to worry about accidentally slipping in, right? Rather, I expect something will be emerging from the dark depths below in response to your party's presence, so it's not all good news.

Your variant for this one is the Void, a stony recolor with some concerning particle effects. And yes, I ha...

Hello there folks, this is the Icy Crevasse (16x11), and your variants are Volcanic and Cracked! The Volcanic one will be great for giving you another extreme environment to slot this map into, and if you want you can easily fill this room with even further environmental challenges, like toxic gasses from the vent or dangerous heat.

The Cracked version is included as an earlier stage of the regular map, letting you surprise players who maybe aren't so careful on thin ice, or perhaps all...

Snowy Ruins, Adept

Hello again, Adepts- this is the Snowy Ruins (16x11), or maybe the Desert Ruins if that's more your speed. I wanted to give painting snow drifts another try since I've been toying around with drawing with fewer outlines recently, and so a map like this felt like the perfect way to practice.

  1. I made a few small changes after this initial sketch, for the sake of the flow of the map. P...

Snowy Ruins, Expert

Hi there, Experts- this is the Snowy Ruins (16x11), a straightforward snowy winter map featuring some old brick walls and a bunch of snow. But since that's a bit plain I figured I'd make a Grassy version for you so you'd have even more chances to use this map alongside the Desert one that the Adepts are also getting. It's simple, but I hope I gave you enough variants of it that you could find opportunities to make use of it!

Abandoned Wagon

Hello again, everyone! This week's map is the Abandoned Wagon (16x11), a lovely simple forest map with lots of lovely little details which I'm very happy with. And on top of that I got to draw something from the side instead of just from above, so I guess this map was a little treat just for me, which is nice sometimes. If it were up to me I'd probably make maps out of all the little forest/village locations in Skyrim, Guild Wars 2, and Witcher 3 that stick in my mind, but I'm pretty sure ver...

Abandoned Wagon, Adept

This one is the Abandoned Wagon (16x11), a simple road ambush map! Would you believe that I hadn't made this map before, it feels like one of those quintessential RPG maps that surely I should have drawn years earlier. Well, better late than never I suppose, here's your waylaid wagon with room for goblins to hide in the bushes.

  1. So, the concept- a nice and wide road winding through a so...

Abandoned Wagon, Expert

Hi again, Experts and Masters! Your map this week is the Abandoned Wagon (16x11), which I suppose looks less abandoned than assaulted in your variant, the Bloody version. But you know maps like this come up very very often, it was one of the first combats I ever created for my homebrew campaign. Now that I'm thinking about it, I think I drew an early version of this map as practice when was first considering making a Patreon.. I should try to find the files for that, it would be interesting t...

Wrecked Cabin

Hello everyone, this week's map is the Wrecked Cabin (11x16), a tiny forest building map that's perfect for plopping down in front of your party when you need a quick point of interest that develops the location's story but also doesn't necessarily need voiced NPCs. You know how it goes, sometimes your session moves along a little quicker than you expected and you get the feeling that a combat would round things out nicely- this map will work in a pinch when in a forest or near a village with...

Wrecked Cabin, Adept

Hello again, folks- this is the Wrecked Cabin (11x16), a small map focusing on a small cabin with some issues, mainly the missing pieces of the floors and walls. Your alternate version has a fair bit of blood splatter as well as some grim lighting and effects, perfect for using this map for spookier encounters, so go nuts!

  1. Nothing crazy with this layout, I just wanted to make sure that...

Wrecked Cabin, Expert

Hi again, Experts- this is the Wrecked Cabin (11x16), a small destroyed building map set in the forest! I expect this will be nice for sprinkling in campaigns when a little more content is needed- abandoned buildings are great for filling in the gaps without introducing new characters. I'm also considering making one like this for cities, a destroyed inn or house would probably be similarly useful, or maybe even more useful. Anyway, I'd love suggestions for buildings I could destroy, whether ...

Sky Altar

Welcome back again, everyone- this week's map is the Sky Altar (11x16), a thinly veiled excuse for me to paint some nice fluffly clouds! But seriously, it's been a minute since I've made a floating island map, and even longer since I've made one I was happy with (have I ever?), so I figured one would make for a perfect mini map considering how isolated the environment is and how easily you could improvise the surrounding terrain if someone or something strays outside the border.

Sky Altar, Adept

I'm back this week with yet another mini map, the Sky Altar (11x16)- a small cluster of flying islands featuring some strange looking ruins. And by that I mean they're strange because I've drawn them at an angle, which is something you'll almost never catch me doing. I'll talk about that more below!

Your alternate variant of this map is Astral, with strange space-y colors and a fun nebulous background. Don't ask me how plants are growing here, but if your players push for answers just s...

Hi Experts- this is the Sky Altar (11x16), one of those maps that you'll need to catch a lift to and from. And then when you arrive you'll say something about how it sounded bigger in the brochure. Anyway, try not to fall off.

Your alternate versions of this map are Cloudy and Propless! I figured this Cloudy variant would cover a lot of bases if you didn't like the pleasant partly cloudy background- just about anything could be under that fog, even other sky islands. And, you know, prop...

Boneyard Cavern

Alright, I'm back again! This final map of the month is the Boneyard Cavern (11x16), a small cave map featuring many bones and a big ol' pit. You could cram plenty of wolves in this here cave, just about any medium-sized predator, or maybe even somewhat dexterous large-sized beasties. I'm talking about your umber hulks, gricks, gray oozes, and darkmantles, all kinds of nasty things lurk in caves just like this and would love to have your party for dinner. Make sure to bring a gift for the hos...

The final map of this month is the Boneyard Cavern (11x16), a nice little cave with big rocky ledges. a few shadowy corners, and whole bunch of bones. At least in the regular version, your bonus one has 0 bones, in case your enemy of choice doesn't leave any scraps or leftovers from their kills. Or maybe you've have other plans for this cave that doesn't involve fighting plain ol' beasts and you need a blank slate for, say, druidic rituals, camps, or other encounters I couldn't even guess at...

Hi folks! This is the Boneyard Cavern (11x16), a simple little cave that's chock full o' bones. If your party stars a necromancer then they'll feel right at home, I assume, unless they're picky about where their bones are sourced. Maybe a necromancer already calls this place their home actually, in which case that's just an extra set of bones for your competing necromancer when they kill and still their competitor's bones unless that's a faux pas with necromancers or something. I'm getting of...

Dead End

I'm back again with a new map, the Dead End (11x16)! I think this tiny map makes perfect use of the space, showing you nothing beyond this little dead end, keeping the combat nicely contained. And, you know what, that's about it- it's a dead end in a city featuring the sort of forgotten junk you might find tucked away there. If your party is made up of trash pickers they might find something of note here, otherwise you're most likely to get cornered by a street gang or something.

Dead End, Adept

Hiya, Adepts- this is the Dead End (11x16), another little city map that makes good use of the limited frame since the subject here is a typically tiny space anyway. If I were making this map a year ago I probably would have tried to make a large series of city streets outside of this dead end, or maybe a series of smaller, branching dead ends winding off of it. I imagine those wouldn't have felt quite as tidy as this one or as satisfying, so I'm going to say this is the best version of that ...

Or maybe they could wind up here after getting lost in a city, only to realize they wandered into the wrong neighborhood?

Little Market

Hi folks! I'm back again with my newest mini map, the Little Market (16x11). This bite-sized market features just a handful of little stalls but I don't doubt some players will find there's plenty to work with here.

Also, I wanted to try lighting an urban night map so I whipped up a bonus variant of this one with some friendly, inviting lighting. I haven't tried adding firelight to urban maps before so I struggled a bit with the levels, but I think it looks pretty nice!

Narrow Alleys

Hello again, Patrons! This week's map is the Narrow Alleys (11x16), a tiny but detailed urban map. This time around it's a dirty little back alley that's showing many signs of decay, with mossy roofs and rubble sitting in the streets, it's the perfect place for your party to pick a fight with some street toughs and soon after find themselves fighting everyone on the block. Or maybe they could start a fight here and quickly find all the locals have disappeared into their buildings.
