Bases & Businesses FREE Sample

As fantasy roleplaying game characters advance in level, they should also advance in station within the game world. While magic swords are enduring rewards that technically increase a hero’s power and influence, they tend to lose their novelty quickly. For game masters and players who want to truly invest in their world, there is no better reward than a base or a business. These shops and strongholds serve not only as physical seats of power and places of respite, but they also allow loot-laden adventurers to spread their wealth, attract hirelings, and raise their status in other helpful ways.

*This supplement provides simple rules for building and maintaining four types of bases and forty businesses that grant unique 5e character features adaptable to any d20 fantasy RPG. Each base is linked to a core character archetype and includes both a sample location map and a table of nonplayer character hirelings ready to drop into your game.

This limited tier includes all previous rewards with one special reward: The Monthly DCC RPG Campaign! Please note, higher tiers do not include this special reward by default, but you may be able to join from a higher tier if there are open slots.

The Campaign: Every month you'll play one session of an ongoing Dungeon Crawl Classics campaign in the DYING EARTH setting. With up to five other players, you'll explore "a far distant future in which the sun is slowly going out, and magic and technology coexist." This foundational fantasy setting was cited by Gary Gygax as part of his inspiration for Dungeons & Dragons, in the infamous "Appendix N" of the 1979 DM's Guide. Created by author Jack Vance (perhaps best known for creating "Vancian" magic used in D&D, and inspiring the anagram name "Vecna"), this classic setting has now been officially licensed by Goodman Games, and brought into Dungeon Crawl Classics!

Each session is about 3 hours and takes place on the 2nd Saturday of the month at 8:30 PM Eastern US time, using Foundry VTT (free for players).

The Game Master: Professional game master Mica "foxy" (they/them) has been GMing for over 10 years with Pathfinder, D&D, Mutants and Masterminds, Dungeon Crawl Classics, Mutant Crawl Classics, and Paranoia. Most importantly, they are a dedicated fan of pulp action adventure, horror, and the Appendix N literature that inspired both D&D and DCC. In their own words, "I love presenting classic sword and sorcery and sci-fi/fantasy storytelling worlds for my characters to interact with and explore." Mica has coordinated online and in-person sessions with Goodman Games for years, and we're excited to have them leading this campaign!
