Druidic Cultivation | Twenty-Six

The sun set shortly after Feng Jiao collapsed, then rose again, then set, and rose once more. Throughout this entire time, Jiao lay upon the floor of the crag forest fighting off the venom that was wrecking its way through his system.

The grey-banded mamba’s venom was a yin based poison, cold and deadly. As it ravished Feng Jiao’s bloodstream, he did his best to purify it faster than it could propagate. Within his toxitus meridian, a small black snake could be seen formin...

Still alive and back on a regular sleep schedule for a couple weeks.

Feng Jiao steadied his weight on his back foot while trusting forward with his spear, hoping against hope to catch the mamba off guard before it managed to collect its wits.

In all fairness, the snake hadn’t yet collected itself and did not dodge the spear that was aimed at its back. Unfortunately, Jiao’s strike proved largely ineffective as his spear glanced off the rock-hard scales of the ...

A few hours later, the sun was at its apex in the sky, signaling the beginning of the youth competition. Many of the children who’d been at the announcement that morning had chosen not to appear for the entrance time, likely dropping out of the competition due to fear of dying to beasts. It was one thing to test one’s mettle against the other kids of their generation and another thing entirely to expect to win by taking down a beast many times stronger than oneself.&nbs...

Feng Jiao squinted at the back of Feng Nian as he waltzed away with his friends. From his previous attitude, Jiao was genuinely surprised that the kid had left their quall at that. Most often, the arrogant children who got smacked around would refuse to back down until they had at least one broken tooth. Feng Nian’s withdrawal actually made Feng Jiao feel more concentrated than he would had the child drawn steel on him.

Still, from his actions it seemed like Nian did not ...

Another update, 'The energy of heaven and earth' is now refereed to as ether, otherwise known as Quintessence. "the material that fills the region of the universe above the terrestrial sphere". Typing out the energy of heaven and earth felt a little too wordy to me and the context is the same. Ether is the heavenly energy present that hallowed artists absorb and then refine into Qi, the energy of earth.

Apologies for the ramp down in chapters this week, I work a weekly rotating sc...

Feng Jiao’s trip down the mountain was largely uneventful and he made it back to his house in no time at all. His mother, who was hanging laundry to dry in their backyard, was the first one to spot Jiao as he swaggered out of the forest in his torn and decaying clothing. Although she couldn’t sense how strong her son had become, she could tell that he’d gained much from his two-month camping trip.

“Your father has been waiting for you, go see him after you get...

Drudic Cultivation + Announcements | Twenty

First and foremost, I want to thank you all for continuing to support my hobby while I work full time. I missed a couple days and for that I'm sorry. That being said, I saw endgame yesterday and it was a good movie.
I have "revamped" the roles on my patreon. Don't worry, I'm not gonna put a pay wall like "X dollars for Y chapters ahead" or anything like that, that'd only pressure me to write more. Instead I have added duplicate roles for anything past a three dollar pledge but person...

Our young hero is developing his own style of fighting.

* *  *

A tree trunk exploded into millions of splinters as a young man dodged a massive furred first. Most of the animals had long since fled this part of the mountain, wanting to avoid the two monsters who were doing battle at the break of dawn. It wasn’t often that one of the forest kings was challenged but, without a doubt, there was always collateral damage if one stuck around. Unfortunately for the many splintered...

“Friends, family, and guests. I hope you’re all enjoying this feast that we’ve thrown together, but if I may have your attention for a moment I’ve got an announcement to make.” Matriarch Feng spoke to the crowd, silencing the ongoing conversations and drawing eyes to herself from all around.

“It looks like everybody has been eating their fill and enjoying themselves, but I’d like to remind us all why we’ve gathered here today. Two generations ago, m...

“Over here, Little Brother Feng!” In a familiar situation, Feng Jiao was once again beckoned over my a young girl to sit near them during a campfire. This time, he recognized the person calling over to him, unlike when it was Duan Cao calling over to him, so he rushed over with Duan Cao in tow.

“Big Sis Jing, I’ve told you to call me Jiao.” The girl beckoning to Feng Jiao was none other than Wang Jing, another of the girls who’d pledged the God Tree Grove with Feng Jia...

With his locus meridian now opened and connected to his diantan, Feng Jiao was able to increase the speed at which he absorbed the energy of heaven and earth through the acupoints in his legs. He experimentally absorbed the energy through those acupoints and realized that not only was he absorbing faster but he was also refining it to Qi much quicker than before. With his diantan now connected and hungry, he also no longer got that too-full feeling that he’d gotten used t...

“That’s my little Ash’er! I’ve known you’d be amazing since your birth, my little firecracker.” Feng Jiao’s mother ruffled his hair as his sisters played around them. Although his sisters were only six and four years old, they too were excited for Feng Jiao. Their village had only been established two generations ago, by Granny Xiaoke’s mother, and Feng Jiao was the first grade eight tal...

As the caravan of carriages pulled toward the front gates of the Crouching Grass Village Feng Jiao could see numerous families lined upon the walls. There were smiles upon every one of their faces as they awaited the return of their children and their results.

The carriages entered the village and pulled off to the side, toward the stables and coach yard. Stablehands ran out to assist with the undressing of the sethra, a scaled oxen-like animal that was docile enough ...

The trip back to Crouching Grass Village was far less stressful than the trip to the city had been. Not only had most of the disciples who’d attended the martial tourney left with their sects, causing there to be far less bodies in the caravan, but all of the tension from the children who were nervous about their martial spirits were no longer worrying. However, whenever there was sunshine the...

And so the cultivation is about to begin. Also went back to last chapter and tweaked Aideen's personality just a bit, I think it either helped with the tone shift or made it much worse, but I'm happier with it either way. Big thanks to all the new patrons in the last week!

“I might have a little bit of ancestral knowledge about that sort of thing, but it all tells me that I am way too good to sign a spirit contract.” The cute little girl bunched up her face and stuck her tongue out again. “Then again, if a strapping young man like yourself were to offer, I guess the least I can do is hear you out. What’s your plan?”

“Junior Feng Jiao greets honorable Senior.” The God Tree Grove elder’s eyes had tracked Feng Jiao since he stepped out of the crowd. End day one of the new book venture, decided on the temporary name above, please suggest something better if you've got it.

The next three years of Feng Jiao’s life went by in a flash, with no events of interest happening to the young boy. He’d developed well, standing slightly taller than other boys his age, but had a girlish figure. He knew it was deceptive because he’d gotten in his fair share of fights with the other children and usually came out on top, his thin and wiry fra...

Feng Jiao was reborn as a young boy into a relatively wealthy family. This was something that took the young boy a minute to figure out though. He’d first assumed it was yet another illusion like the hell that he’d been trapped in since he died upon his mountain top. Just a new dream to torture him with, a new landscape for his nightmare.
He’d cycled through a b...

A woman’s scream broke the eerie silence of the night. It wasn’t the first scream but everybody located within a mile of the residence from which it originated truly wished it would be the last. For the last few hours, every few minutes, a woman’s scream would sound out and startle anybody who heard it. Birds left, animals burrowed, and crickets fled. The fellow humans knew that the scream didn’t mean danger, but was coming from a woman giving birth.

Technocide // Chapter 19

This story is a little weird to upload to patreon  whenever there are 'Boxes' to be displayed. Sorry about that.

Brook and I half ran, half limped, for hours in the dark forest, slowing only to retrieve my handmade spear from where I’d stashed it. We didn’t know what direction we were running, and didn’t really care at this point, we just needed to gain some distance. In the black forest it was nearly impossible to tell the time and I could onl...

By the time we’d crept up on the tent my gut was screaming that we were making the wrong choice. Before I could say as such, Brook crept low and slipped into the tent from the back, disregarding the entrance which was facing toward the rest of the camp. I thought to myself, why would they keep their loot so far away from the center. Only having a singular guard did not make any sense to me, my apprehension was rising.

I could feel that I had notifications from...

Manning

“Manning, how are we looking?” Ash, my bonded dungeon companion, asked from where she was sitting with her feet in a pond. She didn’t ask because I was up to anything, but because she was a bit bored. Ever since the raid on Annahmia, the dungeon town that sprung up after we settled down here, was raided a couple weeks ago, we’ve had little to no visitors. Ash, being a dryad, didn’t usually get bored. Trees rarel...
